Synopsis[]
Tyrone is faced with a hard decision when presented with an opportunity to clear his name from an unlikely source. Meanwhile, Tandy is letting her anger get the best of her as she becomes frustrated with a possible dead end to her investigation into the sex trafficking ring.
Plot[]
Tyrone Johnson blames Tandy Bowen for having allowed James Connors to escape from the Dark Dimension. Tandy then leaves to see her mother Melissa, but upon talking with her, they end up arguing over Melissa risking to fall back into her old nefarious habits and her choice to stay with Nathan Bowen even though he was an abusive husband. As for Tyrone, he goes to see Brigid O'Reilly and asks her for assistance, but O'Reilly refuses, as she is still too shaken by her near-death experience and believes that she is no longer fit anymore.
Tyrone thus decides to find Connors on his own. By drawing a vévé, he is able to teleport to the location where his brother was murdered by Connors years ago. As it happens, it turns out that Connors was already there waiting for him. Much to Tyrone's surprise, Connors offers to help him put himself in prison, notably by providing him with pieces of evidence that Connors retrieved himself like the weapons used to kill Johnson's brother and Kenneth Fuchs. Connors explains that his stay in the Dark Dimension changed him, but Tyrone has a hard time believing him.
Unsure about what to do, Tyrone brings Connors to his father Otis. Otis is nearly willing to kill Connors on sight, but decides to hear his story as well after tying him up to a chair. Connors warns the Johnsons that the pieces of evidence he provided them with will not be enough, as his uncle, Senator Asa Henderson, will cover for him, just like he did after the killing of Billy. Connors informs them that if they can retrieve a secret file hidden by his uncle, they will have enough leverage to remove this obstacle.
Tandy meets with Andre Deschaine, who suspects that she was involved in the rescue of kidnapped girls. Tandy decides to investigate on the kidnappers, but since she cannot meet with the victims, she goes to speak with Lia Dewan to get closer to her as she had a traumatic experience with a former boyfriend. Tandy asks Dewan to accompany her to a meeting with Tyrone, who she presents as her boyfriend even though the details she gives are more based on Liam Walsh. As Dewan watches them from afar, Tyrone tells Tandy about Connors' return, but notices Dewan and figures out that Tandy has been using him without telling him, which angers him and prompts him to leave after an argument.
Tyrone returns to his father and discuss what they should do with Connors. Although they both are distrustful of Connors, they decide to follow his idea to infiltrate into a Promenade Society building. Tyrone is able to steal a set of keys from Henderson, and requests O'Reilly's help to cause a distraction. O'Reilly, who has found her courage back after going back on Mayhem's trail, fakes a bomb threat to evacuate the building, enabling Tyrone to enter. However, Tyrone fails to retrieve the file at the location given by Connors.
Angered, Tyrone returns to Connors and grabs him before teleporting them both into St. Theresa's Church, where Tyrone violently accuses Connors of having lied. Upon touching Connors, Tyrone has a vision of the night Billy died, which still haunts Connors, who genuinely wants to be held accountable for his misdeeds. Upon realizing that Connors is sincere, Tyrone decides to bring him to another person he feels is the only one who can judge the fallen Detective: his mother Adina, who is now separated from Otis.
Tandy uses her argument with Tyrone to get Dewan to talk about her former boyfriend, Eric. Tandy goes to Eric's growhouse, where she is confronted by Eric and some of his friends. Using her Lightforce-based powers, Tandy is able to fight them off and interrogates Eric about the kidnapped girls, but does not obtain much information. Upon leaving the growhouse, Tandy encounters Dewan again. However, it turns out that Dewan actually ambushed her, as she actually is an active participant in the human trafficking operation in New Orleans. Taking advantage of Tandy's surprise, Dewan tases her and has her kidnapped in an ambulance.
