In an interview with Upprox, Alan Taylor explained that he ultimately didn't like directing Thor: The Dark World as while he was given total creative freedom during filming, the movie was then changed in post-production, an experience he wishes to never repeat on someone else. This was the reason why he didn't return to direct Thor: Ragnarok, with Taika Waititi taking the directorial reins.^[1]
