Alamo is a city located in Nevada, United States.
History[]
Project Helius[]
In conjunction with the United States Air Force, S.H.I.E.L.D. established a secret base in Alamo, Nevada called Area 51. The facility served as a scientific research facility and facilitated Project Helius in which S.H.I.E.L.D. attempted to create a fusion reactor. However, the scientists were unable to find a sufficient power source for the reactor, and the project was scrapped.[1]
Raid on Area 51[]
With theories rampant online about what Area 51 was hiding, a massive raid was planned on the facility with over a million people signing up. In reality, only a few dozen actually showed up. This raid and it's failure was reported on by J. Jonah Jameson of The Daily Bugle, who said that the real aliens, were the superheroes.[2]
Alternate Universes[]
History Altered by Chronicoms[]
In an alternate universe, a S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived in Alamo in 1955. The team was attempting to track down Chronicoms who went there to manipulate Project Helius at Area 51. Phil Coulson and Jemma Simmons posed as Gerald Sharpe and Peggy Carter respectively, which allowed them to gain access to the facility.[1]
There, they interrogated project leader Pascal Vega and the rest of the scientists in an attempt to figure out which one of them were Chronicoms. However, before they could figure it out, Daniel Sousa arrived and caught Coulson and Simmons and arrested them. This led Daisy Johnson to infiltrate the base as a CIA agent. Once she talked to Sousa, released Coulson and Johnson to finish their hunt.[1]
The Chronicoms attempted to power Helius to wipe out S.H.I.E.L.D., but were confronted by Melinda May and Yo-Yo Rodriguez, who managed to distract them long enough for Coulson and Simmons to fire off an EMP Generator rendering Helius useless to the Chronicoms. Coulson then fought the Niles Lindmore Chronicom and defeated him. Coulson was then interrogated by Sousa, but Coulson remembered that Sousa was supposed to die that day and claimed to be his contact. They then left Alamo to deliver a package to Howard Stark.[1][3]
