Following his rise to power, Hitler approved the formation of Johann Schmidt's HYDRA, a supernatural sciences division that became a partially independent paramilitary organization.[1]
HYDRA's Betrayal[]
Becoming increasingly aggravated at HYDRA's focus on retrieving the Tesseract at the same time that Captain Carter and HYDRA Stomper were slowly eliminating the Wehrmacht's presence across Europe, Hitler sent General Roeder to demand that Schmidt move his resources to Berlin. In response, Schmidt proclaimed himself a "god", betraying the Third Reich and killing Roeder.[1]
