Doctor Abraham Erskine was a scientist who created the original Super Soldier Serum and was forced to use it on the leader of Hydra, who ended up becoming Red Skull. He defected to the United States of America and chose Steve Rogers to be the subject of the perfected serum and becoming the first of their super soldiers, but he was assassinated before witnessing how Rogers became Captain America and defeated HYDRA agent.
