The Abidjan Operation was a mission orchestrated by S.H.I.E.L.D. and undertaken by agents Hawkeye and Black Widow in Abidjan.
Background

Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff formed a partnership, and became some of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents, as Barton was the one who recruited Romanoff into the agency. Throughout their partnership, they were sent on numerous missions together.[1]
Operation
S.H.I.E.L.D. tasked Hawkeye and Black Widow to participate in a mission, as part of STRIKE Team: Delta, sending them to Abidjan, Ivory Coast. During a shootout at the specific coordinates 5º 20' 27 N, 4º 01' 41 W, they were recorded via S.H.I.E.L.D. satellites, and was saved in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files. The mission was included in the Avengers Initiative documents, as both Hawkeye and Black Widow were potential candidates for the Initiative.[1] They were able to successfully complete the mission, not requiring an extraction plan.[2]
Aftermath
When Loki initiated a war on Earth and took control of Clint Barton's mind, S.H.I.E.L.D. used all their resources to find them. When Phil Coulson was bringing in Natasha Romanoff, Agent Stephen Morton was looking over the files from Barton and Romanoff's mission in Abidjan.[1]
