- "Good is not a thing you are, Kamala. It is a thing you do."
- ―Sheikh Abdullah to Kamala Khan[src]
Sheikh Abdullah is the imam at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City.

Lecture at the Masjid[]
- "Thank you, sister Kamala, for reminding us that it is important to share your voice. Though perhaps except during my lecture."
- ―Sheikh Abdullah to Kamala Khan[src]
During a lecture he delivered at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City, Abdullah heard Kamala Khan and Nakia Bahadir talking to each other and gently reprimanded them. As Khan replied that she did not enjoy the fact that the women's area was so far from him, Abdullah expressed his satisfaction that Khan was present at the sermon but reminded her of the rules at the mosque. Abdullah then reminded the crowd that there would be an election to appoint new members to the mosque's board.[2]
Eid Al-Adha[]
Abdullah later had the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City host a party to celebrate Eid Al-Adha, during which he was seen talking with Yusuf Khan and Rasheed. As the night came, Abdullah and the rest of the crowd noticed Hameed hanging by the curtain after nearly falling from the minaret's window. Abdullah then watched in anguish as he watched Night Light rescuing Hameed. Due to Hameed falling anyway, though with far less damage than if Night Light had not stepped in, Abdullah rushed to see him and comforted him, telling him that an ambulance would come for him.[2]
Damage Control's First Visit[]
- "Return when you have a signed warrant. Excuse me, Ms. Agent. Next time, remove your shoes."
- ―Sheikh Abdullah to Sadie Deever[src]
Abdullah was present at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City when a group of Damage Control agents led by Sadie Deever arrived looking for Night Light. Abudllah denied that the superhero was operating from the mosque, joking to Deever that he could use someone with flying abilities to help him look after the building. As Damage Control planned on searching the mosque, Abdullah was assisted by Nakia Bahadir into refusing to let them proceed due to Damage Control not holding a formal warrant. Abdullah thus instructed the Damage Control operatives to leave, and asked them to remove their shoes the next time they would visit the mosque.[3]
Aamir's Wedding[]
- "Just thought it would be cool to have a superhero who actually fights for us. But I don't know. Maybe she's just making things worse."
"I doubt that boy from the minaret would agree." - ―Kamala Khan and Sheikh Abdullah[src]
Abdullah took part in the mehndi at the Khan Residence prior to the wedding between Aamir Khan and Tyesha Hillman. As Ruby and Kamala Khan inquired about the Damage Control's inspection of the mosque, Abdullah did not look too worried about it, stating it was no big trouble. He then talked with Kamala about Night Light outside the house. Abdullah, who did not know that Kamala was Night Light, expressed gratitude at Night Light for saving Hameed and, as Kamala asked how to convince people she was good, Abdullah reminded her that people were to be judged on their actions, not their nature.
The next day, surrounded by their respective parents, Abdullah celebrated the wedding of Aamir and Hillman at his mosque.[3]
Damage Control's Second Visit[]
- "If you're abetting a potential suspect, no one will be on your side, Sheikh."
"I don't need anyone on my side. 'I'm not even concerned if God is on my side as long as I am on His side. For God is always right.'" - ―Sadie Deever and Sheikh Abdullah[src]
Abdullah once again had to deal with Damage Control, as they this time were looking for Kamran. Abdullah welcomed the operatives, and tried to play for time, offering Sadie Deever and her men some cookies prepared by Rasheed. Abdullah remained sure of his good right in front of Deever, even quoting Abraham Lincoln to her even though she believed his words came from the Quran. While the operatives were searching the mosque, Abdullah provided Bruno Carrelli and Kamran, who were hiding thanks to Nakia Bahadir, with caps and gave them some guidance, reminding them that they were not forced to treat Damage Control as enemies even though the operatives did.[1]
Learning of Ms. Marvel[]
Abdullah was among the crowd that witnessed the fight between Ms. Marvel and Damage Control after being alerted by Zoe Zimmer on social media. He watched in horror as the Damage Control operatives fired their weapons at Ms. Marvel, before turning impressed by her powers and how she used them to save people from a car that Kamran had inadvertently projected onto the crowd, which could have killed Abdullah along with many other people. Abdullah later helped the crowd shield Ms. Marvel against Damage Control, enabling her to flee from the scene.
Abdullah later recounted the incident on his TikTok account, playing with the filters, and invited his followers to celebrate Ms. Marvel's victory at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City.[1]
Personality[]
Abdullah is a very jovial and calm individual, as demonstrated by his ability to remain light-hearted even in the most tense situations such as when the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City was visited by Damage Control. Abdullah deeply cares for his followers and wants the mosque to be a safe space for them. He is also willing to help others and provide them hospitality, such as when he helped Bruno Carrelli and Kamran hide from Damage Control. He also acted as a counselor to Kamala Khan by the time she doubted herself after discovering her abilities, reminding her that people were only to be judged according to their actions. He was also adamant to Kamran that he should not treat people as enemies just because they did the same with him, showing that he was an advocate for peace even in the worst situations. Abdullah withheld his own principles by never acting hostile towards Sadie Deever whenever she barged into the Mosque and disrespected their traditions, though he did take the chance to make the occasional snark reply to her remarks.
Being a seasoned religious leader for his local community does not preclude Abdullah from embracing more modern practices. As such, he owns a TikTok account he uses to remain in contact with his youngest followers. Abdullah is also quite open-minded, listening to Khan's complaints about the difference of treatment between men and women at the mosque, but at the same time is attached to traditions as long as they feel justified to him.
Facilities[]
- "We received a report of an unidentified enhanced individual operating out of this mosque."
"Operating? Out of here? I'm afraid not, ma'am. But if you do know of anyone who can fly, please send them my way. Been looking for someone to clean out the rain gutters." - ―Sadie Deever and Sheikh Abdullah[src]
- Islamic Masjid of Jersey City: Abdullah was the person in charge of this local mosque in New Jersey, where he welcomed many followers such as the Khan family or Nakia Bahadir. Abdullah viewed his mosque as a place of hospitality and was determined to defend it against those who would threaten the mosque's integrity such as Damage Control.
