Wilson Fisk is inaugurated as the 112th Mayor of New York City. He gives an inaugural speech, which is more popular than expected among young voters.[1]
On The BB Report, BB Urich interviews a man about Daredevil's disappearance, to which the man says that he does not miss him and that he should not return.[2][1]
Urich interviews a man, who says that when the strong protect the weak, they begin to prey on the weak.[2][1]
In the mayor's office, Sheila Rivera briefs Fisk on all of his meetings and appointments of the day. Fisk interrupts and asks about his desk, wondering if Fiorello La Guardia sat at the same desk. He eventually redirects his attention to the meetings, asking if they can be pushed to another time, but Rivera emphasizes the importance of a mayor establishing his connections. Rivera says that Vanessa Fisk's resistance to being a part of his narrative is hurting his political agenda. Wilson says he and his wife have things they need to work out and asks for leeway, and Rivera accepts.[2][1]
Murdock listens to Ayala's heart beat with his superhuman senses and learns that Ayala is telling the truth, but still knows he is hiding something else. Ayala denies this, so Murdock listens again. He then tells Ayala that they need to prepare for his arraignment and promises to defend him, and Ayala notices Murdock is blind, making Murdock laugh.[2][1]
Cherry talks to his former partner and obtains the police report for Ayala's case.[2][1]
Wilson Fisk and his team sit in traffic while Rivera covers their plans to receive the key to the Brooklyn, but Fisk argues about expediting change in New York City. Rivera advises Fisk to learn about his responsibilities during his first one hundred days in office. Fisk notices a big hole in the street causing the traffic, so Fisk steps out of his car against Rivera's advice. Fisk speaks to the foreman, demanding that he fill the hole immediately with his approval as mayor, which gains an audience around the traffic to record and praise him. As they return to the car, Rivera reluctantly approves of Fisk's actions.[2][1]
McDuffie reprimands Murdock for wanting to defend Ayala due to how busy Murdock & McDuffie is, but Murdock states that Ayala was being beaten by the cops. Cherry adds that the police say it was an unprovoked attack due to there being no victim during the arrest, and that Ayala's case will make Murdock look like he is siding against the NYPD. Murdock reminds McDuffie that they made a promise to work on the hard cases when starting their partnership firm, so McDuffie finally relents and agrees to take on the case. While Murdock wants Cherry to talk to Ayala's wife and find the assaulted man on the subway, he also asks Cherry to look into Ayala's story for anything that does not track.[2][1]
Murdock and McDuffie approach the New York State Supreme Court Building, where they are surrounded by reporters questioning their decision to defend Ayala, who they believe to be a cop killer, but Murdock states that Ayala is innocent. They refuse questions about Ayala's family and about Fisk watching the trial closely. Meanwhile, Ayala is brought out of his cell for his arraignment.[2][1]
Murdock and McDuffie sit in the courtroom and note the strong NYPD presence. When Ayala is brought out, Powell whispers about Ayala murdering Shanahan. Murdock checks on Ayala while the prosecutor, Benjamin Hochberg, enters the courtroom. The arraignment begins with Ayala's charges being read. Hochberg says that Ayala should be denied bail, and the presiding Judge Jerry Cooper approves. Murdock tries noting that Ayala has no criminal record and serves as a community pillar, however Cooper is unconvinced and ends the arraignment, disheartening Ayala.[2][1]

Daniel Blake meets BB Urich, who gives him his phone number. Urich does not tell Blake that she hopes to use him to get an interview with Wilson Fisk[4] and investigate his potential involvement in the death of her uncle, Ben Urich.[5][6]
5th[]
BB Urich and Daniel Blake walk through New York City Hall to meet with Fisk. Urich tries explaining that could benefit in their career from a friendship. Outside the office, Blake takes Urich's phone and tells her to take it easy on the questions she asks, so Urich teases Blake by calling him an idiot. Buck Cashman lets Urich in and tells her that she has five minutes to interview Fisk.[2][1]
Fisk and Urich sit down for the interview, with Fisk complimenting her about The BB Report's coverage on his mayoral campaign. He asks about her name "BB", to which Urich reveals it to be her real name given to her from her uncle, Ben Urich. Fisk admits to knowing Ben and calls him a good journalist. BB tells Fisk how NYPD Commissioner Phil Gallo turned down three interviews regarding Fisk and that one of her sources says Gallo is poised to resign. BB advises Fisk to get Gallo on his side so the New York City Police Department can back him. BB tries to ask about Fisk's wife, but is dismissed and escorted out of the room. Fisk recognizes that people underestimate BB and decides to use that as an advantage.[2][1]
Heather Glenn hosts a book signing event to advertise her book, and talks about a future book where she plans to cover people who project curated versions of themselves to mask their true selves. However, she says that she is still in the early stages of the book.[2][1]
As she signs book after the event, Glenn is met by Bastian Cooper, who asks her to become his therapist, so Glenn gives him her email address. Next in line is Buck Cashman, who gives Glenn a book to sign and thanks her.[2][1]
Wilson Fisk arrives at Kel Shanahan's funeral. As he attempts to leave, Phil Gallo notices Fisk and confronts him, and antagonizes him for killing people. He criticizes Fisk's choice in becoming mayor in exchange for his criminal enterprise, but Fisk wants to resolve their issues. Gallo is uninterested in resolution, declaring that he wants to ensure a short term. He proceeds to mock Fisk trying to rewrite his legacy despite being a monster, and finishes by calling him "Kingpin" before walking away, leaving Fisk agitated.[2][1]
Kirsten McDuffie and Cherry speak with Soledad Ayala to convince her to come to Hector Ayala's trial, but Soledad is worried about her husband walking away free. Cherry notes on the consequences of being charged with killing a cop and how the New York City Police Department will do everything they can to get Hector punished, but assures Soledad that McDuffie and Matt Murdock are the best lawyers to defend him. Cherry offers to get Hector's suit for court to explore his bedroom while McDuffie continues trying to convince Soledad to appear in court. Soledad lectures McDuffie on married life while Cherry searches around the bedroom, where he eventually discovers a box containing the White Tiger Suit and the Amulet of Power.[2][1]
Meanwhile, Murdock and Heather Glenn have a date at a restaurant. Glenn voices the prospect of going to Belize together and flirts with him as they fantasize about the vacation. Murdock receives a phone call from Cherry and learns what he found.[2][1]
At Rikers Island, Matt Murdock confronts Hector Ayala about his identity as White Tiger and chastises him for not telling Murdock about his vigilantism. Ayala explains that he was not wearing his White Tiger Suit or Amulet of Power when Kel Shanahan was killed. Ayala defends his actions, claiming that people are going missing and Daredevil is not around anymore to protect anyone, but Murdock warns that it is a matter of time before the District Attorney's Office finds out his identity too and says that the only way he can win Ayala's case is to know every way he can lose it. Ayala winces in pain and reveals to Murdock that he is getting beaten during his stay at Rikers Island, so Murdock assures Ayala that he will help.[2][1]
Fisk begins a meeting with Gallo, who says he will be resigning that night and not helping with the transition to a new commissioner. As he goes to leave, however, Fisk notes that he had Cashman visit D'Angelo's, where he took photos of Gallo's mistress and their secret child at the restaurant. Using this as blackmail, Fisk turns down Gallo's resignation as well as multiple benefits to the New York City Police Department. Gallo agrees to stay as commissioner, but warns that Fisk will regret it. Gallo leaves, and Cashman compliments Fisk's move, but Fisk says it was the secret child he kept hidden that made his plan work.[2][1]
Matt Murdock meets with Benjamin Hochberg and Jerry Cooper, moving to suppress the information that Hector Ayala is White Tiger. He argues that Ayala was not wearing the Amulet of Power during the incident and claiming that the reveal will create a biased opinion from the jury. Hochberg claims that Ayala's vigilantism would suggest a pattern of behavior. Ultimately, Cooper is persuaded to suppress the information surrounding White Tiger or any acts of vigilantism.[2][1]
A woman is interviewed by The BB Report, who talks about criminals running free while the police have their hands tied, and that she is afraid because of it.[2][1]
Matt Murdock meets with Cherry at a pier, where Cherry informs him that he could not find Nicky Torres and doubts that Hector Ayala was telling the truth. He confronts Murdock about this case holding relevance to him due to his past life as Daredevil, but Murdock insists that it is about Ayala. Cherry stresses the need to prove Ayala is telling the truth and tries complimenting Murdock for the man he is currently, prompting Murdock to leave.[2][1]
Murdock stands outside a church and listens to the service going on inside.[2][1]
Connor Powell exits the 15th Precinct Police Station after finishing his shift. Murdock hears this and begins tailing Powell, eventually leading him to Powell's apartment building. Murdock receives a phone call from Heather Glenn telling him that she will be busy with an important client session and will not be available on their scheduled date, and Murdock agrees to move the date to another time while Powell watches a soccer game.[2][1]
After signing a non-disclosure agreement, Glenn welcomes Wilson and Vanessa Fisk to a marriage therapy session. Vanessa explains that she and Wilson ran a complex business together until Wilson disappeared. Wilson explains that his recovery process prevented him from with Vanessa, leading Glenn to ask if it was best for Vanessa. Wilson and Vanessa overlap their voices before Vanessa speaks, saying that she took over the business and found that fulfilling. When Glenn asks about it being fulfilling personally, however, Vanessa reveals that her reason for coming to therapy is so she can figure out her feelings about Wilson's return, and Wilson states that he is in therapy to ensure that he does not lose his wife.[1] Glenn asks if they want to save their marriage or dissolve it.[2][7]
Murdock overhears Powell receiving a phone call that mentions finding someone at an address given over the phone, prompting Murdock to call Cherry and instruct him to go to Fort Tryon Park.[2][1]
Murdock arrives at the Nicky Torres' Apartment, knocking on the door. After convincing Torres to let him inside, Murdock explains that they must escape from the two men coming to kill him so he can testify as a witness in Hector Ayala's trial to prove his innocence. However, Murdock overhears the two men arriving, so he tells Torres to meet Cherry at Fort Tryon Park as Torres makes his exit through the fire escape.[2][1]
Connor Powell and his colleague Williams enter the apartment and find Murdock, who informs them that Torres is already gone. Powell shoves Murdock to the wall while Williams confirms that Torres is not in the apartment. Powell and Williams beat Murdock when he claims not to know where Torres went. Williams decides to kill Murdock, but before he can, Murdock disarms him and breaks his arm, knocking him unconscious on a table. Powell charges at Murdock, only to be thrown into the refrigerator and slammed down on the ground. With Powell unconscious and rekindling his violent tendencies, Murdock screams.[2][1]
Torres tells Ayala's defense team what happened when Ayala rescued him.[2][8]
Matt Murdock enters Hector Ayala's prison cell at Rikers Island. Ayala tells Murdock about the coqui that live in Luquillo where he used to live and recites the whistle the coqui sang, explaining that the coqui uses the whistle to call out to their love. Murdock assures Ayala he will walk free and be reunited with his family.[2][8]
Hijacking at Red Hook Port: Two men from Viktor's faction of the Five Families drive a truck through Red Hook Port, but are stopped by Devlin demanding for the two men's keys and wallets. The driver of the truck turns them over, but the passenger is resistant to Devlin's demands. Devlin has the passenger and driver shot before collecting the truck.[2][8]

An elderly man is interviewed for The BB Report and says that he is not afraid of the violence in the city and will fight back when someone invades his privacy.[2][8]
Another man is interviewed on The BB Report giving his thoughts on New York City's chances of surviving a fight between good and evil and the infighting between both sides.[2][8]
Wilson Fisk eats breakfast with Vanessa Fisk in the Gracie Mansion. They discuss Vanessa's past as an art seller and how she misses, but are interrupted when Sheila Rivera comes in to inform Wilson about the hijacking at Red Hook Port. Wilson says they will handle it appropriately so Rivera leaves. Vanessa warns that without a head to organize the Five Families, they will turn on each other until one faction is left standing goes after Wilson. However, Wilson rejects getting involved with the criminal world.[2][8]
Matt Murdock washes his bruised hands in a bathroom, where he is soon confronted by Connor Powell about their fight. He threatens to report Murdock's interference to a judge to throw him off Hector Ayala's case, but Murdock threatens to report Powell's witness tampering, causing Powell to back down and allow Murdock to leave.[2][8]
Cherry enters the warehouse where Nicky Torres is stashed. He offers Torres a bag of cocaine so he can relax before going to testify as a witness for Ayala's defense.[2][8]
During court, Powell is placed on the witness stand being questioned by Benjamin Hochberg about his background in the New York City Police Department and his involvement with the arrest of Ayala. Powell claims to have been finishing up a routine sweep with Kel Shanahan in an empty subway station right as they were confronted by Hector Ayala, who Powell claims assaulted them without provocation and pushed Shanahan in front of the train that killed him. Powell reminisces about his and Shanahan's friendship, and Hochberg ends his questioning.[2][8]
Murdock jokes about Powell's black eye and gets Powell to reiterate that there was no one in the subway that night. He asks about Nicky Torres, who Powell claims not to have met. Murdock states that Torres has worked as a confidential informant for Powell and Shanahan and asks if they had a meeting. Powell again denies knowing Torres, so Murdock ends his questioning. One of the police officers in the court gallery whispers to another saying Torres cannot testify, which Murdock hears.[2][8]
Cherry and Forrest Tam prepare to deliver Torres to court, Cherry riding in a van while Tam notices Cherry's gun. Torres comes out and is ushered to follow Tam instead of Cherry, using the van as a decoy to throw off any pursuers.[2][8]
The next court session is about to begin, which makes Kirsten McDuffie nervous and Murdock tries to reassure her that Cherry and Torres will arrive.[2][8]
On the road, Cherry notices a police motorbike following him.[2][8]
Cherry sees the police motorbike getting closer and makes a sharp turn. When the motorbike passes the intersection, Cherry believes himself to be safe until he is intercepted and stopped by the motorbike in front of him, which is being driven by Powell.[2][8]
Cooper calls for the defense's witness, but Murdock and McDuffie are not ready.[2][8]
Powell confronts Cherry and tells him to get out of the van.[2][8]
McDuffie asks where Torres is, and Murdock becomes worried.[2][8]
Powell forces Cherry to open the back of the van, revealing that it is empty.[2][8]
Torres enters the courtroom and sits at the witness stand. Murdock begins his witness examination on Torres, establishing that Torres lives near the subway station where he was attacked. Torres explains how he was recruited as a confidential informant for the NYPD. When Murdock questions where Torres was during the night of the attack, Torres becomes quiet and looks to the police officers, claiming to have been at his house the entire night. Murdock becomes outraged at Torres lying and shouts at him until Cooper urges him to stand down. Murdock reluctantly chooses to withdraw Torres as a witness to the case.[2][8]
At Vanessa Fisk's request, Buck Cashman arrives to meet with the leaders of the Five Families at Red Hook Port. Cashman negotiates with Luca, Viktor, and Carlo to end their gang war after the hijacking and orders Luca to deliver $1.8 million to Viktor as restitution for the hijacking, frustrating Luca. He retorts by telling Cashman to have Wilson Fisk talk to him personally, and insults Cashman by calling him the mayor's errand boy. Cashman, however, says he does not just work for the mayor and takes his leave.[2][8]
Murdock, McDuffie, and Cherry debate what went wrong that caused Torres to refuse to testify. McDuffie suggests proving Torres was a confidential informant on the record, but Cherry explains that Powell kept no paper trail. With no other choice, Murdock declares that their only move left is to put Ayala on the witness stand to testify to his side of the story and hope the jury believe him.[2][8]
Wilson and Vanessa Fisk wait for Heather Glenn to return to therapy and begin conversing about Vanessa's dealings with the Five Families. Vanessa insists she does not want to see the Five Families fall apart. Wilson says that chaos must reign for a new peace to arise, which Vanessa takes as a slight against her involvement with Adam. Glenn returns to the room, so Wilson and Vanessa stop before their argument escalates and Glenn resumes the therapy session.[2][8]
Hector Ayala sits on the witness stand and is questioned by Matt Murdock before the court. Ayala tells what happened the night he rescuedNicky Torres. Murdock states that Ayala could have ignored Torres being harassed, but says he did not because Ayala is a hero who saves people before ultimately revealing Ayala to be White Tiger to the entire courtroom, much to the shock of everyone and Ayala's horror.[2][8]
Judge Jerry Cooper takes Benjamin Hochberg and Murdock to his office and furiously chastises the latter for requesting to suppress the information of White Tiger only to reveal it in the court, but Murdock states he had no choice after Torres refused to testify. Cooper, realizing it would be pointless to strike the revelation from the record or declare a mistrial, agrees to continue with the trial as planned, but warns Murdock that Ayala now has a target on his back.[2][8]
A man is interviewed by The BB Report regarding his opinion on Ayala's trial, saying that Ayala should be given a fair trial, though he doubts Ayala will be given one due to his Puerto Rican heritage.[2][8]
Murdock sits with Ayala in his prison cell to talk. Ayala says that Murdock should have been asked before revealing his identity, and Murdock states that it was a last-ditch attempt to keep him out of prison. Murdock tries telling him that he would not be able to be White Tiger, but Ayala insists that White Tiger is who he is and it is a calling he cannot ignore. Murdock says there are other ways to help and claims that Ayala will come to realize that he will not miss being White Tiger if he were to try.[2][8]
Kirsten McDuffie recites a police report submitted by New York City Police Department officer Lucas Barlow about when White Tiger helped detain a suspect who was assaulting Barlow. Murdock shows off more police reports filed by officers Reyes, Wong, Morales and Grant, all of whom were assisted by White Tiger, and Murdock states many people view White Tiger as an ally rather than an enemy.[2][8]
Ayala sits on the witness stand where Murdock asks him questions about why he risked his life to help all the people he saved, and Ayala responds every time by saying that it is the right thing to do.[2][8]
Murdock gives his closing statement to the jury, telling the jury that Ayala attacked Connor Powell and Kel Shanahan without using the White Tiger Suit and the Amulet of Power, and that Ayala regularly risks his life as White Tiger to save people and help the community. He declares Ayala to be a man of integrity incapable of murdering Shanahan and ends it by calling Ayala a hero regardless of whether he is wearing the suit or not.[2][8]
Hochberg gives his closing statement to the jury, explaining that doing good things in your life does not necessarily make one a good person, using Ayala as the prime example in his analogy. Hochberg gruesomely describes what happened when Shanahan hit the oncoming subway train in and claims Ayala was the one responsible and should not be exempt from that simply because he does good deeds. He notes that, unlike Ayala, the police save people without masks. He finishes by saying that real heroes do not need to hide.[2][8]

DJ wakes up for school. He rubs his eyes and yawns, groaning as he puts on a purple sweatshirt. DJ takes his bag and drags it behind him lazily as he goes to school.[12][13]
3rd[]
DJ wakes up excited for school, shouting that it is the day and leading to his brother shushing him. DJ's mother reminds him to brush his teeth, leading DJ to struggle to get the words out as he brushes. DJ's cat, Bast, meows in confusion.[12][13]
DJ and his classmates express excitement for Hero Day
DJ gets on the bus and again excitedly states that it is the day. The bus driver asks what day it is, leading the entire bus to shout that it is hero day. DJ admires the costumes worn by his classmates.[12][13]
DJ's school goes on a field trip to the Smithsonian Institution, where Sam Wilson is delivering a speech before his plans to later deliver Solar-Battery Drones to underprivileged neighborhoods near Washington, D.C. As Wilson prepares to give a speech, DJ excitedly shouts for him, admiring his favorite superhero. Wilson begins a speech, leading DJ to shush the people around him. Wilson reminds the children watching his speech that being a hero is a choice made and that there is no right way to be one aside from doing what is right. He assures the audience that anyone can become a hero.[12][13]
Wilson's speech is interrupted by an explosion, which is joined by the appearance of several soldiers wearing advanced technology that augmented their abilities as they crash in. The soldiers defeat the guards near by and steal the drones, rushing into the museum. The explosion pushes a tree over as Wilson shouts for everyone to remain calm. Wilson throws his shield to the tree, pushing it out of the way of DJ and the other civilians that the tree was going to fall on. The crowd cheers for Wilson as he rushes into the museum, leaving his shield behind.[12][13]
The shield rolls to a stop at DJ's feet, worrying DJ. Believing that Wilson needs the shield to be a hero, he tries to find someone to bring the shield to Wilson. He asks his teacher first, but she is distracted getting DJ's classmates to line up. He asks the bus driver for help, but he screams and runs away. He finds a nearby tourist, who panics because his underwear caught fire and does not notice DJ. DJ decides to take the shield to Wilson himself, picking up on his back and struggling against the weight as he goes into the museum.[12][13]
DJ finds Wilson inside, tying a soldier up and demanding to know who they work for. The soldier sneers at Wilson, refusing to answer. As DJ attempts to approach Wilson, another explosion happens, causing a large gap in the floor as it collapses. People get trapped on the collapsing floor, so Wilson takes a door and places it across the gap, allowing the tourists to cross safely. The tourists all run to the exit, except one man who is distracted talking on his phone. The man nearly steps into the gap, but DJ places Wilson's shield under his feet, allowing the man to use the shield as a bridge across the gap.[12][13]
DJ carries the shield toward Wilson, seeming him capture another soldier and demanding to know who their leader was. The soldier simply shouts the name of their organization, SERPENT, as Wilson ties her up.[12][13]
Wilson sees an older woman trapped under a fallen museum display and rescues her. The woman calls out for her dog as he rescues her. The dog stands on top of a Bucky Barnes display. As smoke fills the room, the dog sneezes and falls off the display. DJ slides across the floor on Wilson's shield and catches the dog, who climbs into DJ's hood. DJ nicknames the dog Barky Barnes and continues to follow Wilson. He sees Wilson heading toward the rood and demanding to know who the soldiers are.[12][13]
Reaching the roof, DJ sees a confrontation between Wilson and the remaining soldiers, including the unit's leader. The leader of the unit shouts that Wilson is trapped without a shield to protect him, leading DJ to decide it was the time to act. DJ shouts for Wilson and rolls the shield over to Wilson. Wilson picks it up and uses it to incapacitate the soldiers, tying them up.[12][13]
Wilson walks over to DJ and starts to scold him, asking if he was hurt and demanding to know what he was thinking, but DJ is honored by the lecture. DJ introduces himself, saying that he thought Wilson needed the shield in order to be Captain America as it was part of his uniform. Suddenly understanding, Wilson softens and kneels in front of DJ, empathizing with DJ helping someone he thought was in danger. He tells DJ that appearances are not what defines a hero, but rather what is on the inside. DJ asks if even a smaller person can be a hero, so Wilson gestures to his classmates, the man who nearly fell in the gap in the floor, and Barky Barnes' owner. The tourist who's underwear was on fire continues to panic as his clothes continue to burn.[12][13]
Wilson tells DJ that they were the people he saved rather than Wilson, commending him for seeing people in need and helping them. He tells DJ that neighborhood will get the solar-battery drones because of him, saying that a hero looks like DJ. DJ hugs Wilson, who asks where DJ got his hoodie. DJ says that he made it, so Wilson asks if DJ can make one for him, saying that his suit gets itchy.[12][13]
The final session for Hector Ayala's trial begins with Ayala and the jury entering the courtroom. A juror declares that Ayala has been found not guilty for all charges. The court erupts in celebration as Ayala cries in happiness and Jerry Cooper declares Ayala a free man. Ayala then hugs Matt Murdock and Kirsten McDuffie for their efforts before turning to Soledad Ayala, who smiles in relief.[2][8]
As they leave the New York State Supreme Court Building, Murdock, McDuffie, and the Ayalas are swarmed by news cameras and reporters covering the verdict results, but Murdock simply declares he is grateful that justice has been served.[2][8]
Murdock has Heather Glenn over at his apartment to celebrate his successful trial. Glenn comments on Murdock's victory, and Murdock responds by explaining how he and Foggy Nelson promised to drink a bottle of O'Melveny's they kept whenever they won a case, so he pulls out a bottle for him and Glenn to drink themselves. Murdock becomes melancholy when talking about Nelson and how he enjoyed the good moments, so Glenn raises a toast to Murdock, his victory in Ayala's case, and Nelson.[2][8]
Now home, Ayala talks with Angela Del Toro and tells her not to rely on others for things she can do herself.[2][8]
BB Urich interviews Wilson Fisk, who claims that Hector Ayala's trial verdict was a miscarriage of justice, and affirms that the jury was wrong in their decision since he believes Ayala to have murdered Kel Shanahan. Fisk states that vigilantes are a threat to the rule of law, and calls them cowards.[2][8]
Ayala, despite being told he cannot continue being White Tiger, suits up in his White Tiger Suit. Ayala puts on his mask and sets out into New York City at night.[2][8]
Fisk insists that vigilantes are not heroes.[2][8]
White Tiger hears a woman scream in the distance and tries running to the source.[2][8]
Fisk proclaims his intent to keep his promise, citing Ayala's acquittal as a reason he needs to keep it. He states that the rule of law must prevail.[2][8]
At the morgue, the coroner collects Hector Ayala's belongings. Matt Murdock is debriefed by the coroner regarding Ayala's autopsy, stating that the bullet and casing used by the killer were not found at the scene of the crime, which makes Murdock suspicious.[2][7]
Angela Del Toro, Ayala's niece, appears in the morgue and demands to see Ayala's corpse, but Murdock stops her and takes her away to talk in private. Del Toro believes corrupt cops of the New York City Police Department murdered Ayala for getting out of jail, and goes on to vent her frustrations and hatred towards the NYPD for getting away with murdering her uncle. Del Toro cries and hugs Murdock, who tells her that they have to believe someone will find Ayala's killer.[2][7]
Meanwhile, Muse carries his latest victim through a train tunnel. He watches a subway go by.[2][7]
15th[]
In the early hours, Daniel Blake and BB Urich attend a party at a club with Cece. Blake tries to avoid drinking more and wants to leave, but Urich says he needs to relax after how hard he has been working for Wilson Fisk. Blake states that he loves Fisk and tells Urich about the plan to meet with CleanGreen Haulers later in the afternoon and to start restoring the piers in New York City in order to get around union contracts.[2][7]
The group leaves the club to get some food, but Blake is still insistent on leaving to get some sleep, so Urich summons a taxi for Blake to take home.[2][7]
Arrest of Leroy Bradford: Across the street, Leroy Bradford is placed in handcuffs by officer Wilcox after he is caught eating caramel corn that he stole from the local bodega. San Miguel and Wilcox eat the caramel corn, which Bradford claims they cannot do. Wilcox claims he paid for the boxes they were eating, leading Bradford to insult San Miguel. San Miguel and Wilcox put Bradford inside the police car to be taken to jail.[2][7]
At 5:47 a.m., The BB Report publishes an article regarding the planned union busting which dubs Fisk "Mayor Garbage."[2][7]
On the rooftop of his apartment building, Murdock receives a phone call from Kirsten McDuffie, checking on Angela Del Toro's visit to the morgue before telling Murdock he is needed downtown. Murdock assures her that he has set up meetings with several banks. McDuffie directs him to meet with Bradford to take on his case, and Murdock agrees.[2][7]
Wilson and Vanessa Fisk sit in another therapy session with Heather Glenn, who wants to discuss Vanessa's affair with Adam. Vanessa says she did not know when Wilson would return, which prompted her to seek out a relationship with Adam. Vanessa speaks highly of Adam and likes that he was not involved in crime. Vanessa becomes tense talking about Wilson leaving, and connects it to her own father leaving for weeks at a time.[2][7]
When Vanessa says she could not end the affair, Glenn asks if Wilson did anything to Adam. Wilson admits to confronting Adam and denies knowledge of where Adam is. Glenn says forgiveness is the highest form of love and implores the couple to have an answer to the question of wanting to preserve their marriage or dissolve it by the time of their next therapy session.[2][7]
As they leave, Glenn stops Vanessa to speak in private. Glenn expresses worry in Wilson's vague answers regarding Adam and concern for Vanessa's safety, believing Wilson to be abusive towards her. Vanessa assures that Wilson would never harm her and takes her leave.[2][7]
The BB Report interviews a man regarding Wilson Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Campaign. The man says that he loves vigilantes and wishes he could have been a vigilante himself.[2][7]
Murdock arrives at Bradford's jail cell to collect him, but Bradford mocks him for being a blind lawyer.[2][7]
Murdock and Bradford sit in a visiting room to discuss Bradford's charges. Bradford claims to have not done it, but Murdock reveals that there were active cameras at the scene and they have several witnesses. Bradford asks why the arresting officers were not charged with eating the food and suggests blaming a Skrull. He mentions Bradford's previous charges presenting a problem in getting Bradford released and advises Bradford to take a plea deal. Bradford demands that Murdock get him probation.[2][7]
Murdock approaches Sofija Ozola about Bradford's case and asks her to narrow his sentence down to probation. Ozola rejects the offer, suggesting keeping him off the streets is the better solution, but Murdock argues that deterrence does not work, commenting on Ozola's Latvian. Ozola is charmed by Murdock enough to give Bradford a 20-day prison sentence. Murdock presents a philosophical argument that it is the same sentence as probation, prompting Ozola to give him the final offer of a 10-day prison sentence, which Murdock accepts.[2][7]
On his way back to Bradford, Murdock encounters Connor Powell. Murdock suggests Powell felt embarrassed by Hector Ayala winning the court case enough to have him murdered, believing Powell to be Ayala's killer. Powell forces Murdock against the wall with his badge, telling him about how he wears the badge with honor due to his family and swears that he did not murder Ayala. Murdock hears his heartbeat and realizes Powell is not lying. Powell goes on to threaten Murdock about him assaulting a police officer, and Murdock counters by telling Powell to bring more officers the next time they fight, causing Powell to retreat.[2][7]
Wilson Fisk and his political team go to Red Hook Port to discuss restoring to bring industry back to New York City. Sheila Rivera urges Fisk to be patient, noting the high crime rates and suggesting that he start smaller. Fisk asks for solutions, so Rivera says they need to ask the public advocate to put it on the docket. Fisk agrees, and while Daniel Blake and Rivera leave, Buck Cashman cautions Fisk about the leaders of the Five Families presenting a problem for him.[2][7]
Murdock returns to Bradford and informs him about how he got him to serve a 10-day sentence at Rikers Island, upsetting Bradford. Murdock demands gratitude, prompting Bradford to discuss his abuse by the system and losing his benefits. He says he wanted to taste good food after eating from dumpsters and notes that keeping him in jail costs five times more than the caramel corn. Bradford eventually relents that it does not matter, upsetting Murdock.[2][7]
Fisk sits in Lincoln Middle School, where a student choir sings We Built This City for him. Blake gets a notification that the Red Hook Port Revitalization Project was leaked on The BB Report due to Blake informing BB Urich about Fisk's plans and tells Rivera. Matt Murdock waits at New York Mutual Bank for a meeting with Steven Aldrich, overhearing conversations from other people in the bank as he fiddles with the broken horn of his Daredevil suit. Yusuf Khan greets Murdock, explaining that Aldrich is unavailable. Khan tries offering a candy to Murdock and gets a message from his daughter Kamala Khan. Murdock learns Khan is from Jersey City, prompting Khan to talk about Jersey City as the gateway to the United States and the home of Ms. Marvel. Khan shows a custom-made Funko Pop! figurine made in Ms. Marvel's image, and realizes Murdock cannot see it, so he gets back to business.[20]
Khan notes that Murdock & McDuffie talk about Murdock & McDuffie's willingness to take on clients who cannot pay despite being over-leveraged. Murdock explains his motivation for defending everyday civilians, saying they serve a vital function in the city. Although Khan is sympathetic to Murdock, he rejects the loan.[20]
The power in the bank goes off, and Devlin's crew announces the robbery, gathering the people inside as hostages, and subdue any retaliators. Meanwhile, Khan slips away to Aldrich's office in an attempt to alert the authorities.[20]
Murdock talks to Kirsten McDuffie over the phone to inform her about New York Mutual Bank's rejection. He uses his superhuman hearing to learn about the bank robbery going on and tells McDuffie to call 911 before running back towards the bank.[20]
The crew secures all the hostages, and Khan fails to call the cops due to the phone line being cut and gets captured by Blue, who brings Khan out to join the hostages.[20]
Murdock walks back into New York Mutual Bank, pretending not to know about the robbery until he is caught by the robbers. They force Murdock with to join the hostages next to Khan, who is concerned about Murdock's return. Murdock hears the heartbeats of all the people in the room, noting that the hostages' heartbeats are rapid while the robbers' heartbeats are calm.[20]
Devlin addresses the hostages, warning them not to make any moves against him or his crew. Murdock advises Devlin against killing hostages to prevent his armed robbery charge from turning into a murder charge. Devlin realizes Murdock is a lawyer and has Red punch Murdock in the gut to silence him. Devlin asks for Aldrich, but no one amongst the hostages answers him.[20]
The robbers learn of the police's arrival and begin demanding the bank manager to show himself. Devlin directs his attention to Khan, who reveals he is assistant bank manager and that Aldrich is not at the bank. Devlin asks if Khan can open the bank's vault, and Khan lies by saying he can. When the robbers see SWAT arriving, Murdock overhears Devlin assuring his crew to stick to Luca's plan before telling the hostages to keep their heads down.[20]
Devlin and Red go to a private office nearby, where Red worries about how the police could have been informed so quickly. Devlin prioritizes on sticking to Luca's orders, telling Red to stay with the hostages while Devlin handles the police outside while Blue takes Khan to open the vault, which Murdock hears.[20]
Khan admits to Murdock he cannot open the vault Murdock assures him and advises against revealing the truth, instead telling Khan to stall for as long as he can when Blue takes him to the vault.[20]
Outside the bank, Captain Rodriguez is met by Detective Angie Kim, who informs him that she is in charge of hostage negotiation as an officer reveals a phone call with Devlin. Kim speaks to Devlin, who notes his familiarity with Kim's negotiation tactics. Kim states that Devlin and his crew are surrounded and threatens that he will end up either arrested or dead. Devlin demands that the NYPD give him three armored vehicles and gives Kim a deadline of less than 30 minutes to deliver the vehicles. Kim asks for two hostages to be released in exchange.[20]
Devlin and Red return to the hostages to decide who they are going to release. Devlin forces Belinda and Murdock to their feet to go, but Belinda begs to have her husband, Keith, set free with her, and Murdock tries to offer his freedom. Devlin asks for Murdock's name and is surprised to hear he is Irish. Murdock explains he was raised in an orphanage, amusing Devlin. Entertained, Devlin agrees to let Belinda and Keith go free together. Devlin then has Blue take Khan to the vault.[20]
The NYPD witness Belinda and Keith exiting the bank to safety.[20]
Johnny Santini discusses the robbery to Selene, finding it pointless due to the vault only containing safety deposit boxes. Selene notices that Murdock is standing and asks Murdock to sit down, but the robbers spot him. Murdock says he needs to use the restroom, and Red agrees to take him, but aims his shotgun at Murdock's forehead to remind him not to try anything.[20]
Meanwhile, down at the vault, Khan tries stalling for time by telling Blue the history about the vault and the bank.[20]
Murdock is guided by Red while he listens to Khan stalling and enters a stairwell.[20]
Murdock collapses his cane as he descends the stairs.[20]
With his patience wearing thin, Blue threatens Khan to open the vault.[20]
Murdock removes his tie and uses it to attack Red, engaging him in close combat. He disarms Red, and when Red attempts to shank him with a knife, Murdock knocks Red into the rail guard, causing both of them to stumble down the stairs. Red cuts the tie, and Murdock causes Red to drop the knife.[20]
Khan claims that getting him a snack would calm his nerves, but Blue continues threatening Khan.[20]
Murdock hears the shotgun teeter off the edge of the stairs, prompting him to catch it while putting Red in a chokehold with his legs, rendering Red unconscious.[20]
Khan claims the combination lock to the vault changes regularly, leading Blue to realize Khan does not know the combination. Murdock knocks Blue out from behind and takes possession of his radio as Devlin asks for an update. Murdock fakes an Irish accent to disguise himself and claims to be working on opening the vault.[20]
Murdock works on unlocking the vault, telling Khan they cannot go back to the lobby without the item the robbers came for. Khan expresses his doubts about Murdock opening the vault and mentions how he gave Kamala a piggy bank to instill in her the value of saving. To pass the time, Murdock asks if the piggy bank worked, but Khan says he is unsure and can only try to impart his wisdom to the next generation.[20]
The lock combination clicks, and Murdock successfully unlocks and opens the vault. Khan, surprised, asks Murdock what kind of lawyer he is, and Murdock quips about being a good lawyer.[20]
Outside the bank, Kim assures Devlin that the vehicles are on their way and they need more time. Devlin becomes impatient and taunts Kim about Saint Patrick's Day. Devlin proceeds to stall for more time by demanding a joke from Kim, saying he will spare the hostages for another three minutes if she makes him laugh, so Kim asks her colleagues if they know a good joke.[20]
Khan tells Murdock the 1,273 deposit boxes in the vault the robbers are looking for, and informs Murdock that there are only two keys to open the boxes. Murdock finds a key on Blue's body belonging to the deposit box they are looking for.[20]
None of Kim's colleagues know a joke to tell, so when Devlin says it is time, Kim begins a joke about a priest and a four-leafed clover.[20]
Yusuf Khan starts looking for the safety deposit box
Murdock gives the key to Khan, who cannot to find a number other than 4 on it, so he begins checking the boxes in the "4" column one-by-one for the right box.[20]
Kim finishes the joke, in which a leprechaun confuses a penguin for a leprechaun nun.[20]
Devlin lets out a hearty, genuine laugh before telling Kim she has ten minutes before he murders the first hostage, which Murdock hears.[20]
Khan questions if Murdock is truly an orphan, and they talk about Murdock's past. Khan continues fumbling with the key, so Murdock assures him that he will live to see Kamala again. The key finally fits into a box, and once Khan opens it, he finds a diamond inside. Murdock recalls one of the robbers mentioning a boss during the robbery, who he suspects to be the one the robbers want the diamond for.[20]
Murdock uses his superhuman hearing to listen to Rodriguez giving orders to breach the bank. Kim tries arguing against the breach, but Rodriguez remains steadfast on the plan. Murdock and Khan leave the vault to head back to the lobby.[20]
In the lobby, Devlin attempts to contact Blue about the vault, but does not receive a response. Suddenly, Murdock appears in the lobby with Khan in tow and demands that the hostages be released since they are running out of time. Devlin threatens to shoot a hostage, and Murdock shows off the jewelry bag. Meanwhile, Rodriguez gives the countdown to have his forces breach the bank. Murdock offers to trade the diamond for the lives of the hostages, but Devlin threatens to shoot Murdock and take the diamond.[20]
Right as Murdock tosses the bag to Devlin, the NYPD breach the bank and toss smoke grenades to spur confusion. As the hostages scramble, Devlin retreats to an office while Purple is apprehended and Yellow attempts to fend off the police, but is knocked unconscious by Murdock.[20]
Devlin exits the office disguised as a police officer and hands the jewel to Selene, telling her to take it to Luca. As Devlin makes his escape, Murdock convinces an officer he needs to see a paramedic outside the bank, and goes to follow Devlin.[20]
Devlin passes under scaffolding where he is cornered by Murdock, wearing Red's mask, and the two begin to fight. Devlin pushes Murdock to the ground, but is quickly beaten by Murdock's punches, so he tries tackling him. After pushing him down, Murdock jumps on Devlin's leg and breaks it in half before stomping on his face, knocking Devlin out.[20]
Selene pulls out the jewel given by Devlin and discovers it to be a candy that Murdock had swapped out instead.[20]
Matt Murdock returns to New York Mutual Bank and sits with Yusuf Khan to discuss the robbery. Khan affirms that the robbers must have had a boss they report to and someone inside the bank working for them. Khan expresses worry for Murdock returning to the bank for the loan, but Murdock assures him that he wanted to check on Khan. Khan suggests brainstorming ideas to help make Murdock & McDuffie more profitable over a dinner with his, which Murdock happily accepts. Murdock takes candy from Khan's desk. Once Murdock is gone, Khan discovers the diamond in the candy bowl.[20]

Luca warns Fisk to stay out of the criminal world, further upsetting Fisk.[21][22]

Fisk claims that he puts New York City before himself, but Artemis declares that the socialites still have control.[21][22]
Fisk then speaks with Jack Duquesne, who doubts Fisk's plans on taking down vigilantism in the city and says the Red Hook Port project does not align with their interests. In the East Room, Wilson tells Torres and Bradley about the offer while Hunter Barcroft's phone flashes a light at him similar to Bradley's. Ross starts the presentation, explaining that his treaty intends to end the fights which occurred over the appearance of adamantium, a new element even more indestructible and available than vibranium which was found on Celestial Island. Ross explains that Wilson recovered Japan's stolen adamantium from SERPENT that day. Ross offers that the adamantium can be fairly and equitably distributed.[9]
Music starts playing in the room, which suddenly triggers Bradley to stand up disarm a United States Secret Service agent. He fires in Ross' direction, but misses. Wilson fights Bradley, but gets thrown to the side. More people attack Ross, and Taylor takes him out of the room. Ruth Bat-Seraph helps fight as people flee and Wilson and Torres take out the remaining attackers.[9]
Bradley runs away and Bat-Seraph prepares to shoot him, but Wilson stops her and chases after Bradley. Bradley jumps out a window and onto the street, and Wilson runs down the stairs after him. Bradley ends up in Pershing Park surrounded by the Metropolitan Police Department. Bradley regains consciousness and asks what is happening. Wilson convinces Bradley to go to prison with the intention of investigating. The police are rough with Bradley and his suit, upsetting Wilson.[9]
Sam Wilson forcibly enters President Thaddeus Ross' bunker, but Ross tells everyone to leave him and Wilson alone. Ross asks after Wilson, who tries to defend Bradley as security advisor Ruth Bat-Seraph enters the room. Wilson and Bat-Seraph argue about Bradley, and Bat-Seraph says it was a coordinated terrorist attack. Wilson claims that Bradley was not in control and wants to investigate, believing Ross' inner circle to be compromised.[9]
Bat-Seraph says that Wilson cannot offer something better than the United States government, and Ross notes it is not good optics for Captain America to investigate a friend. Bat-Seraph speaks to motive, and Ross says that his offer to work together expired. He says that Wilson is not Steve Rogers and should not be in this situation, giving Bat-Seraph his full authority to handle the situation. Ross tells Wilson not to get involved, angering him.[9]
As he leaves, Wilson expresses his frustration to Leila Taylor, who scolds him about needing Ross on his side. Wilson says that Ross is always on his own side, and Taylor tells him not to be the person who does everything the hard way. However, Wilson simply leaves.[9]
Bat-Seraph leaves Ross alone, and Ross takes a pill.[9]
The news reports on the government indicating a death penalty case will be pursued against Bradley.[9]
Frank Payumo tells Wilson that he only has five minutes with Bradley. Wilson enters the visiting room, and Bradley sits on the other side. Wilson asks Bradley to tell him he was not involved, and Bradley says he does not know what happened. He says he does not remember anything after entering the East Room. Bradley says he does not want Wilson to get involved, realizing that he will not be able to escape. Wilson assures Bradley that he will get him out, but Bradley tells Wilson not to return and leaves.[9]
Bat-Seraph watches with Payumo and asks for a copy of the conversation. She compliments him on his efforts with Wilson and asks to know if Wilson visits again.[9]
While driving, Wilson talks to Joaquín Torres on the phone as Torres gets into the White House's security system, noting that Bradley reminded him of Bucky Barnes being controlled. Torres sees Bradley's phone flashing at him and notes that it also happened to Hunter Barcroft.[9]
Reviewing security footage of the attack, Bat-Seraph sees the light flashing in Bradley's face.[9]
Ross calls Cooper for confirmation that they have eyes on their prisoner. Cooper, believing himself to be looking at the prisoner, says that he is. In reality, he continues staring at the wall as he and Ross hang up.[9]
Wilson wonders about why SERPENT was hired, leading him to suspect the buyer wanted Wilson to show up and then go to the White House. Torres wonders how the buyer could predict their actions, so Wilson suggests he is watching them and asks Torres to look into Bat-Seraph.[9]
Wilson hangs up on Torres and turns a corner, only to start getting shot at by Sidewinder. Wilson crashes into a car and escapes as Sidewinder throws a grenade at it, blowing it up. Sidewinder says that the target was eliminated. A Metropolitan Police Department car shows up, which Sidewinder starts shooting at.[9]
Wilson, having survived the explosion, attacks Sidewinder, and the two begin to fight. Sidewinder stabs Wilson several times, but Wilson still kicks him to the ground. Wilson deduces that Sidewinder is there for the buyer and asks to talk to him and resolve their conflict. Sidewinder reveals that the buyer predicted Wilson trying to talk to him and shoots at him, leading Wilson to take cover behind a car.[9]
Wilson momentarily deflects Sidewinder's gun and runs into Aaron's Salvage Yard. Sidewinder follows him, saying that the buyer agreed to pay double to kill Wilson. Wilson pours Roxxon Bleach onto a battery, creating a fog that allows Sidewinder to stab and kick him, knocking him out. The buyer calls Sidewinder, which Wilson answers. The buyer compliments Wilson and says he will not like what is coming next, hanging up without saying who he is.[9]
Ross meets with Kapur and a French diplomat, assuring them that the attackers are in custody and asks for patience. The French diplomat and Kapur agree to continue their conversation another time, but Ross says that the treaty is too important to let it fall apart. Kapur and the French diplomat says that they need Japan and doubt Ozaki's willingness, but Ross expresses confidence with him. Kapur says that they will only sign if Japan does and then call ends. Ross leaves the bunker against Taylor's advice.[9]
At their main base of operations, Wilson tells Torres about the attack and asks him to trace the buyer's call. While the trace runs, Torres reveals that Bat-Seraph was raised in the Red Room, which Wilson says means she is dangerous. They speculate about why Bradley would miss when shooting at Ross despite being so close to him. The trace finds the buyer at Camp Echo One, which Wilson realizes is a military base.[9]
Wilson takes a new uniform and remembers Ross telling him not to get involved, but decides to do so anyway. Torres agrees to accompany Wilson, who tells him to pack as much gear as possible. Torres hurriedly gathers his things and rushes after Wilson. Both men leave their cell phones behind to avoid getting tracked.[9]
Assassination of President Ross' Attackers: Bat-Seraph goes to Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling and is told which cell each of Ross' attackers are in. As she reaches the cells, Payumo opens the doors and takes out his gun, shooting Barcroft, James Davidson, and Max Ventura. Bat-Seraph draws her own gun and demands that Payumo drops his, but Payumo kills himself. Bat-Seraph hears a song playing through Payumo's radio.[9]
Ross struggles to exercise while on Air Force One when Taylor walks in and reports their impending arrival in Tokyo. Taylor says that it is dangerous to be in public while the orchestrator of the attack is still out there, but Ross says that after struggling with Congress, he cannot afford to lose his international partners. Taylor hesitantly agrees and reports that Wilson and Torres went off-grid, so Ross orders that they get put in holding.[9]
Torres plays a game on his burner phone and reports that they are about an hour away from Camp Echo One. Torres receives word about the deaths in the prison, but Wilson decides to keep going forward.[9]
Cooper calls Ross and claims to have moved the prisoner as a precautionary measures, but the buyer shoots him and takes the phone. The buyer reveals himself to Ross as responsible for the attack, and Ross asks what he wants. The buyer says he wanted his life back and scolds Ross for leaving him in the prison. He says he is making his own choices and that everyone would know who Ross is.[9]
Bradley is taken out of his holding cell, and Bat-Seraph says that he is going to solitary confinement, but Bradley refuses. Bat-Seraph insists it is for his protection, but Bradley considers to refuse even though Bat-Seraph cannot guarantee his safety. Bat-Seraph expresses doubt in Bradley's involvement, but gets a call to go to Camp Echo One.[9]
Wilson and Torres reach the camp and retrieve Wilson's shield from the front trunk of the car. Wilson scans the building and has Redwing cut the fence and put the security footage on a loop. This allows Wilson and Torres to run to the main compound and manually force the door open, allowing them in before the guards return to the area.[9]
Wilson and Torres look through the facility and do not find any prisoners. They open a door and find a laboratory as the door closes behind them. Wilson finds profiles on several people alongside Samuel Sterns' diploma from Grayburn College.[9]
Torres looks through a computer while Wilson notes one of the profiles is for Bradley. Wilson looks through the files in the prison, finding one containing Ross' medical information and instructions for pills.[9]
In Tokyo, Ross assures Ozaki that he intends to share the adamantium and suggests the world needs the treaty. Ozaki accuses Ross of being responsible for their adamantium getting stolen, noting that they had verified the information. Ross calls Ozaki naive and asks why he would steal something then order its return. Ozaki says that he does not want to be involved in the treaty.[9]
Torres finds optogenetic data on Ross' attackers and realizes that the buyer is using mind control. Wilson pulls up footage of Sterns teaching a lecture as Sterns appears in the laboratory. He comments on being surprised by Wilson's presence and reveals he was the buyer. He explains that he can see every probable outcome and explains that he does not want to kill Ross, revealing what Gamma Radiation did to his brain.[9]
Sterns reveals that Ross used his intelligence to solve his problems and win the presidency. Wilson demands that Sterns stop, but Sterns reveals that Ross is aware that Bradley is not responsible but letting him stay in jail. Wilson tries to attack Sterns, who uses a sonic weapon against him.[9]
Several mind controlled guards show up, and Sterns leave as Wilson and Torres work to neutralize the guards. Torres is strangled while Wilson gets beaten down, but Wilson overpowers his gurds and kicks his shield into one of Torres' attackers. Torres gets the upper hand while Wilson is nearly killed, but Torres uses one of the guards' weapons on Wilson's attacker, ending the fight.[9]
Wilson and Torres rush after Sterns, but are confronted by more guards. They ready to fight, but Bat-Seraph appears behind them, ordering them to stand down. The guards continue moving, leading Bat-Seraph to attack the guards, easily fighting them. Wilson tries to help with his shield, but misses as Bat-Seraph takes down all the guards on their own. Wilson and Bat-Seraph demand to know what the other is doing there. Bat-Seraph asks after Sterns.[9]
Bat-Seraph tries to convince the FBI to let him go, when Sterns' mind control music suddenly starts playing through the FBI radios. Bat-Seraph takes Wilson's handcuffs off, allowing Wilson to get his shield while Torres and Bat-Seraph run. Wilson takes down several agents and gets in the car as Bat-Seraph drives away.[9]
Ross' advisor tells him that it appears as though the United States did in fact order the attack, and Ross asks for time alone, but there is not time as Ozaki intends to take the adamantium for himself. The advisors argue over what to do, leading Ross to get overwhelmed and hit the table, cracking it.[9]
Ross stands up and asks for a strike group to be deployed. An advisor suggests against it, but Ross says that if only one country will control adamantium, it will be them. Ross tells Leila Taylor that he wants to be in the Indian Ocean within the hour. Taylor warns that it is dangerous, but Ross simply says that he was a wartime general and will become a wartime president. Taylor hesitantly agrees.[9]
Wilson, Bat-Seraph, and Torres arrive at the United States Navy SEALs Norfolk Training Facility, where they are greeted by Dennis Dunphy. Torres uses a computer to block out Sterns' mind control and starts playing the music to test it, finding it clear. Wilson gives Dunphy pills he found at Camp Echo One to be analyzed.[9]
Wilson approaches Sidewinder, who compliments Wilson for being alive. Sidewinder asks for full immunity, but agrees to a reduced sentence. Sidewinder says that his old unit found Sterns in Harlem and that his mind was capable of impossible calculations. Sidewinder reveals that Ross increased Sterns' gamma exposure and used Sterns to create technology and weapons in exchange for a pardon. Wilson realizes that Sterns wants to blame Ross for the war and leaves, and the two exchange threats about Sidewinder's potential escape.[9]
Wilson returns to Bat-Seraph, who denies knowledge of what Ross was doing. Dunphy tells Wilson that Ross is on the USS Milius in the Indian Ocean with Japan's warships also in proximity. Wilson tells Torres and Bat-Seraph that they need to go.[9]
Sterns arrives at a military admiral's house. The admiral opens the door, and Sterns kills him and his wife.[9]
Wilson and Torres reach Celestial Island and touch down on the Milius, admiring the island. Bat-Seraph joins them, and Taylor takes the three to Ross. Bat-Seraph tries to explain, but Ross yells at her for failing. Wilson claims that they both know that Bradley is innocent, threatening to continue the conversation in public.[9]
Flying over the island, Jackal comments about Japan being allied with the United States. However, Whiskey's radio cuts off as Jackal starts hearing Sterns' mind control music.[9]
In a private room, Wilson explains that Sterns has been behind everything since SERPENT stole the adamantium, planning a war using mind control technology. He suggests that Ross is being controlled and reveals the medical information Sterns has. Ross denies knowledge of what is happening, but Wilson pushes him to admit that his heart was failing.[9]
Ross tells Wilson that Sterns was the only one able to figure what was happening to Ross and that Sterns gave him the pills in exchange for hope at his life back. Ross says that Sterns was collateral damage in the Bruce Banner Manhunt and that after his entire life of serving the country, his Betty Ross never forgave him.[9]
Thaddeus says he wanted Betty to know there was more to him. Wilson sympathizes with feeling a need to prove something. He says that hard moments are when its time to prove there is more to him, when an advisor comes in and says American soldiers fired on the Japanese fleet.[9]
The army says that Jackal and Whiskey are not responding, so Ross deploys Wilson and Torres. Torres and Wilson try telling the pilots to return and that there was a mistake, but Whiskey appears and starts firing at the planes. Jackal fires on the fleet, and Wilson tells Ross not to send more fighters up so that Japan can see they are trying to deescalate. Meanwhile, the Japanese soldiers are granted permission to return fire.[9]
Japan launches six missiles, and the United States fires intercept missiles. However, two missiles get through, so Wilson and Torres get them out of the way while dealing with interfering fire. Wilson asks Ross to convince Japan to ground their planes.[9]
Ozaki criticizes Ross' violence, but Ross tries to explain that Jackal and Whiskey went rogue and asks Ozaki to call off his pilots. Ozaki claims that Ross is the one doing the manipulating, so Ross explains that Wilson is trying to bring Jackal and Whiskey down. Ozaki asks who the pilots are getting orders from, but Ross does not answer, so Ozaki hangs up.[9]
Ross starts to get overwhelmed, leading Sterns to start talking to him through his headphones about his rage. Sterns tells Ross to let the rage out, so Ross steps out.[9]
Wilson sees Whiskey going toward Torres while he cuts through the wing of Whiskey's plane. Torres helps Whiskey to eject and gets rescue sent. Japanese fighters continue to attack, leading Wilson to realize that Ross is still refusing to admit to Sterns' involvement.[9]
Sterns taunts Ross about his hatred still being within him.[9]
Wilson avoids fire from Japanese fighters by grabbing onto Celestial Island and sees Jackal flying toward several ships, choosing to go after him while Torres keeps the others busy.[9]
Ross asks what Sterns did to him, so Sterns claims he did what they agreed on and a little bit more. Ross struggles to take a pill and realizes that Sterns poisoned him, so Sterns tells him to stop taking the medication, saying that he will not. Sterns tells Ross to stop fighting his anger.[9]
Jackal fires several missiles, but Wilson destroys them all with his suit and shield. Meanwhile, Torres avoids fire from Japanese fighters. Torres sees Jackal fire his last two missiles and destroys one from afar. Against Wilson's orders, Torres goes after the last missile, but gets caught in the explosion. His wing breaks and he falls into the ocean. Wilson wants to go after Torres, but is told to focus on Jackal, so he decides to end it.[9]
Sterns encourages Ross to give into his rage as his legacy falls.[9]
Jackal prepares another attack, but Wilson grabs onto his plane.[9]
Sterns tells Ross to let out the monster inside of him.[9]
Wilson uses his shield to force Jackal to eject, causing his plane to spiral. Wilson pulls it up.[9]
Ross crushes the metal he is holding while Sterns continues to taunt him.[9]
Redwing helps Wilson to stabilize Jackal's plane.[9]
Ross' body starts to transform as Sterns says nothing can stop him.[9]
Wilson pulls up just in time, causing the plane to crash into the ocean. Wilson flies out of the water.[9]
Taylor checks on Ross and tells him what happened. Ross' transformation is undone as he calms down, wanting to fix things with Ozaki. Sterns hears the development and screams while the Japanese soldiers retreat.[9]
Bat-Seraph tells Wilson that medical evacuation got to Torres.[9]
Sam Wilson watches Torres' surgery and is approached by Bucky Barnes, hesitantly glad for Barnes' presence. Barnes assures Wilson that it is not his fault. Wilson thinks about Steve Rogers and confesses his own feelings of inability to live up to Rogers' legacy and restart the Avengers. Barnes assures Wilson that Rogers was right to give Wilson his legacy and that Wilson is doing his best at being something to aspire to.[9]
Barnes assures Wilson that it will be alright and leaves to go to a fundraiser. Ruth Bat-Seraph arrives and comments on Barnes' presence. They see the news talk about Isaiah Bradley, and Wilson steps outside.[9]
Assassination of Dennis Dunphy: While training, Dennis Dunphy receives a phone call from his analyst, who reveals that the pills he sent were filled with Gamma Radiation. Dunphy prepares to call Wilson, but is attacked by Samuel Sterns with a sonic weapon. Dunphy asks who Sterns is, so Sterns claims to be the hero before using the weapon to disrupt Dunphy's heartbeat, killing him and walking away to prevent Wilson from learning about the pills.[9]
Thaddeus Ross stands in the White House and is approached by Leila Taylor, who reports that the Rose Garden is safe. Taylor leaves and Ross calls Betty Ross, who answers the phone, surprising Thaddeus. Betty apologizes for not calling after Thaddeus was attacked, and Thaddeus is happy to hear Betty's voice. Thaddeus says he is trying to change and asks to go for a walk to see cherry blossoms like they used to, and Betty agrees. Thaddeus says he loves Betty, who wishes him goodbye before hanging up.[9]
Thaddeus Ross approaches the reporters for a press conference. He recounts his promise to create a lasting peace and says that they are beginning to realize the promise.[9]
Sterns approaches Wilson outside the hospital and sarcastically asks for counseling. Wilson comments on the Metropolitan Police Department coming soon, but Sterns says he turned himself in so he could succeed. Sterns says that they both want to Ross to be seen as he is.[9]
Ross says that their treaty will be signed and asks for questions. A reporter asks about the apparent breakdown in relations with Japan after his attack, but Ross says that it was the result of fabrications.[9]
Wilson notes that Sterns kept Ross alive and seemingly did not care about starting a war, but rather destroying Ross' legacy. Wilson says that someone is analyzing the pills, but Sterns reveals that he killed Dunphy.[9]
Arrest of Samuel Sterns: Sterns claims that Ross turned him into a monster and that it is fair for him to do the same. The military arrives, and Wilson temporarily holds them off to ask if Sterns considered that he could be wrong about Ross. Wilson walks away as the military arrests him and Sterns shouts that if he is right, Wilson will die.[9]
A reporter sees the news about Sterns turning him in and asks about Sterns' claim that he worked on secret government projects, which Ross claims is a lie. However, the sound system starts playing an audio recording of their phone call. Ross fights the United States Secret Service as they try to get him to leave.[9]
Bat-Seraph watches the conference on television and jumps into action.[9]
Ross' body fully transforms, turning him into a large monster, Red Hulk. Taylor draws her firearm on Red Hulk and hesitates on giving the order to fire. Red Hulk hits his podium, causing it to go flying toward the reports, so Secret Service start firing on Red Hulk. Red Hulk breaks one of the support columns and turns his attention toward Secret Service, but is interfered with by Wilson.[9]
Wilson starts fighting Red Hulk, who sees how strong he is when he causes Wilson's wings to vibrate. Wilson has Taylor set a perimeter around the White House and attacks Red Hulk, leading him to damage the area more and send both of them crashing through the building onto the roof. Several police officers fire at Ross, and Wilson protects them from Ross' retaliation. Bat-Seraph sends drones to fire on Red Hulk, causing more damage, and Red Hulk destroys the drones.[9]
Wilson asks Bat-Seraph to clear Hains Point and starts running, leading Red Hulk toward there. Wilson passes the Washington Monument, which Red Hulk uses to slow his fall, causing parts of it to fall. Wilson takes Red Hulk to Hains Point among the trees, and they reach a road as Wilson asks Ross to fight it. Wilson tries to get Ross to remember his daughter, but Red Hulk only gets angrier.[9]
Wilson prepares his shield, Redwing, and EXO-7 Falcon, challenging Red Hulk. ed Hulk charges him and Red Wing shoots lasers at him, allowing Wilson to cut Red Hulk's back. Red Hulk punches Wilson away and throws a flaming car at him, but Wilson cuts through it. Red Hulk repeatedly punches Wilson's wings as Redwing shoots him, and Red Hulk ultimately rips off Wilson's wing.[9]
Red Hulk tries to crush Wilson's skull, but Wilson kicks a blade into Red Hulk's chest, causing him to drop Wilson. Red Hulk jumps at Wilson, who stabs Red Hulk with his remaining wing. This lets out a burst of energy that clears the area and sends both sliding back.[9]
Wilson recovers as Taylor and Bat-Seraph pull him out of the rubble. However, Red Hulk also gets up, and Wilsons swears. Wilson tells Bat-Seraph to have backup wait and approaches Red Hulk with another appeal to Ross. Wilson says that he believes Ross is trying to change and tells him to prove it to both the world and his daughter. Red Hulk sees a leaf from the cherry blossom trees and reverts back to Ross.[9]
Ross is put in a stretcher and taken away by SWAT. Bat-Seraph tells Wilson that Sterns is being transferred to a secure facility. Bat-Seraph wants to take Wilson to the hospital, but Wilson says they have to go elsewhere first.[9]
At Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling, Bradley is released from his handcuffs and walks out of the holding facility. Wilson tags him on the back, and Bradley jokes how long it took before they hug. Bat-Seraph returns Bradley's suit so that he can leave.[9]
20th[]
Thaddeus Ross publicly takes full responsibility for his actions and steps down as president of the United States. He is sentenced to prison in the Raft, which he willing accepts in order to allow the country to move on.[9]
Japan and the United States decide to uphold Ross' proposed treaty regarding shared and equitable ownership of adamantium, naming it the Ozaki-Ross Accords.[9]
Josh Robin reports on conversations surrounding the arms race for adamantium and the restoration of the White House.[25][9]
Sam Wilson goes to the Raft, where he visits Thaddeus Ross. They comment on the food in the Raft, and Ross is happy to hear that Isaiah Bradley was released from prison. Wilson says that the Gamma Radiation in his pills led to his transformation, but admires Ross for taking responsibility and giving up his office. Wilson says that the United States and Japan signed Ross' treaty, which was named the Ozaki-Ross Accords.[25][9]
Ross notes that the entire conflict saw himself and Wilson on different sides, asking why he is there. Wilson insists on the need to see the good in each other. Wilson steps to the side as Betty Ross appears and greets Thaddeus. Betty agrees to sit and talk with Thaddeus, and Wilson leaves.[25][9]
Torres wakes up in his hospital bed to see Wilson standing over him, calling him Falcon for the first time. Wilson sits down, and Torres apologizes for messing up, claiming that Wilson never did. Wilson says that he feels like he lets people down if he is not consistently on it, and that the pressure weighs on him and makes him wonder if he will ever be enough.[25][9]
Torres tells Wilson that he only ever got to see heroes online and on television growing up in Miami and that he wanted to be like Wilson, admiring that Wilson never gives up. He says that he wants the same pressure and responsibility as Wilson. Wilson leans over and tells Torres the secret to his aerial kick, making Torres laugh. Wilson offers Torres the chance to join his new Avengers team. Torres asks for a Wakandan suit, making Wilson laugh.[25][9]
Sam Wilson goes to the Raft and visits Samuel Sterns in his cell to boast. Sterns tells Wilson that a large threat is coming for their world, noting that there is a larger multiverse out there and that Wilson will have to protect his universe from others.[25][9]

However, With Interest places itself firmly on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17, and continues plot threads established in earlier episodes, so should be closer to events from the previous episode, Sic Semper Systema, so events needs to be stretched as much as possible. On the first day of events following New Year's Eve, Matt Murdock says that had he not taken on Hector Ayala as a client, Ayala “probably wouldn't have made it past the weekend,” suggesting that it is Friday or at least toward the end of the week. This would place these events on either January 1, 2027, or January 8, 2027 as a starting point for these events. Since Ayala is still in prison and Fisk appears to be within the very beginning of his mayorship, January 1 can be used. The next time the passage of time is indicated is in the events surrounding Ayala's trial. On the day the trial starts, Buck Cashman describes the murders at the start of The Hollow of His Hand as “two nights ago,” indicating a tight passage of time for the start of the trial. That same day, Connor Powell testifies. Promotional material produced for IHEARTCOMIX with Marvel notes in a newspaper that, “The high profile murder trial of Hector Ayala enters its second week today amid mounting tensions and controversial testimony that has captivated Hell's Kitchen residents,” later adding that, “The prosecution spent much of last week establishing a timeline connecting Ayala to the scene through testimony of the other officer who claims to have interacted with Ayala directly and witnessed the action.” On the day Murdock sits in the courtroom alone, cars are shown parked next to a sign which reads “Truck Loading Only” and “Except Sunday.” Ayala is declared not guilty in the following scene, which cannot be on a Sunday since court is in session. Therefore, it can be taken that Ayala's trial overall spans three weeks, with Ayala declared not guilty on Monday of the third week. To put the end of Sic Semper Systema as close to With Interest as possible, the scenes in between Fisk's first Friday as mayor and the start of the trial can be stretched as much as possible, placing the start of the trial on Friday, January 22, 2027, and its end on Saturday, February 6, 2027. In Excessive Force, Angela Del Toro says, “My uncle, two days before he got shot, you know what he told me? He told me, 'Don't rely on anyone to do what you can do for yourself.' In the interest of stretching, it can be taken that this conversation happened the day Ayala was released, and that he was then killed two days later, on February 8, 2027. Depending on the timing of the death, autopsies can take between 2-5 days to be completed, so to stretch it out to get closer to Saint Patrick's Day, it can be taken that Murdock learned the results of the autopsy the day after it happened, so the sixth day after Ayala's death, February 14, 2027. This is followed by a scene of Muse with a victim, then by a series of scenes which are all set on the same day throughout Sic Semper Systema. In that episode, Murdock tells Leroy Bradford, “I got you ten days, on which you do seven, minus today, you get the weekend bounce back and you are out on Friday.” Bradford's sentence apparently ending on a weekend day implies that it is either Sunday or Monday. During that day, Fisk visits a school where students perform for him, meaning that it is a school day, making the events of the episode a Monday. It can therefore be taken that the Muse scene occurred the same day Murdock visited the morgue, with the following events of Sic Semper Systema the next day, Monday, February 15, 2027. Muse's scene at the end of the episode has the same victim that is found at the start of Excessive Force, which is set shortly after With Interest, and the victim's body has not yet begun to decompose or show any signs of being left for a substantial time. Therefore, this victim's death can be understood to have happpened immediately before With Interest, on March 16, 2027.
↑ 3.03.1Heaven's Half Hour begins with a sequence leading to Foggy Nelson's death which is followed by a jump to “ONE YEAR LATER,” at which point Wilson Fisk begins campaigning for mayor of New York City following his decision to do so in the post-credits scene of Maya. A reporter describes the election as a recall election, meaning it is not bound by typical New York City mayoral election cycles. Optics then begins with Fisk addressing the people of New York City on New Year's Eve, in which he is described as “MAYOR ELECT” by a news ticker, with Hector Ayala getting arrested the same night as confirmed by Benjamin Hochberg in The Hollow of His Hand. To keep the events close to Maya while giving Fisk time to gather the signatures needed and align with Disney+'s “MCU Complete Timeline” section placing the series after the events of Agatha All Along, which is firmly set in November 2026, it can be taken that this is the 2026-2027 New Year's Eve, which would place Nelson's death in 2025, the remainder of Heaven's Half Hour in late 2026, and the rest of the series in early 2027. In New York City, when a vacancy is opened for mayor within less than eighty days of a general election, the new mayor is elected on the next general election day. Since Fisk is sworn in after December 31, 2026, this was likely the case for the election which he won, which places the scene in which Fisk wins the election on November 3, 2026. Prior to that scene, as Matt Murdock prepares for Benjamin Poindexter's sentencing, a news report says that it is twenty-seven degrees outside, suggesting that it is winter, the latter half of October the earliest. In a later scene as Murdock and Fisk reunite, Fisk describes the election as “soon,” meaning there is still some time before November. Overall, it can be taken that the opening scenes are as early as possible, October 16-17, 2026, and the scenes between then and the election can be taken to be at around the midpoint of October 17 and the election, balancing the implications of being soon before the election and having been enough time since Fisk announced his candidacy for Sheila Rivera and Daniel Blake to have reports on Fisk's popularity as a candidate, placing them from October 24-26, 2026. On the night of the mayoral debate, Fisk says, “It was almost a year ago now when those cops in that bar were murdered by a vigilante,” referring to the night of Nelson's death, meaning October 25, 2026 is soon before the one-year anniversary of Nelson's death. Ideally, this would be a minimum of three days before the anniversary. In set photos for the series, a calendar at Josie's Bar the day of Nelson's death places the scene in October. It can therefore be taken that Nelson died between October 28 and October 31, and the midpoint of October 30 can be used.
↑In Optics, Daniel Blake says he got BB Urich's phone number "the other night" on the reasoned date of January 5, 2027. This places their meeting on approximately January 2, 2027.
↑IHEARTCOMIX's promotional newspaper says, "The high profile murder trial of Hector Ayala enters its second week today," placing its publication on the Monday of the second week of the trial, January 25, 2027.
↑In Sic Semper Systema, Leroy Bradford says, "Look, I paid for that shit last week" on approximately February 15, 2027 (see other references). This can refer to an exact seven days prior, so February 9, 2027, or simply "within the week of February 8." A weighted calculation, placing more weight on the more specific, places the purchase on February 9, 2027.
↑ 16.016.1The Twitter account for New Jersey AvengerCon starts with a Tweet thanking people for going to AvengerCon, which would be posted the same night as the event itself, September 20, 2025 (see 2025 references). The following Tweets can be placed the same amount of time following the initial Tweet as passed between postings, until the picture of Kamala Khan in Karachi is posted. Following real time would place that picture before she arrives in Karachi, so that post can be taken to be soon after the event shown in the picture, and posts afterwards can be understood to be the amount of time since then.
↑In Isle of Joy, Josie says, "The mayor's office has offered loans, but I'll be damned if I take a penny from that man" on approximately April 8, 2027 (see other references). This implies the offer occurred during Fisk's administration, which started January 1, 2027 (see other references). The midpoint of these two dates can be approximated for when the offer was extended, placing it on February 18, 2027.
↑In Captain America: Brave New World, Thaddeus Ross explains that he tried to get Samuel Sterns transferred instead of granting him a Presidential pardon, implying that this attempt occurred after his inauguration as President of the United States. It can therefore be approximated that the attempt occurred at the midpoint of his inauguration and the beginning of the main events of Captain America: Brave New World, placing it on March 3, 2027.
↑In Straight to Hell, Phil Gallo sees Luke's tattoo and says, "It's fresh ink, huh?" This causes Gallo to realize Luke is with the AVTF, suggesting he only got the tattoo after being recruited. However, the tattoo appears healed on the surface, which at a minimum takes two weeks to happen, which would place the tattoo before the AVTF were recruited on March 28, 2027 (see other references). Therefore, it can be taken that Luke got the tattoo as soon as possible, the same day he was recruited to the task force.
↑ 25.025.125.225.325.425.525.625.7In Captain America: Brave New World, restoration on the White House is shown to have begun following its destruction in the climax of the movie, firmly placed on April 19, 2027, based on Isaiah Bradley's invitation to the White House reading “April 16, 2027.” This would take some time, although not too long as it is also Sam Wilson's first time visiting Thaddeus Ross. As he visits Ross in the Raft, Joaquín Torres in the hospital, and then Samuel Sterns in the Raft, Wilson is shown in different clothes in each scene, suggesting they are on different days. To best balance the implications of the scene, it can be taken that Wilson visited Ross in prison roughly one week after the climax, placing it on April 26, 2027, and then Torres the following day, April 27, 2027. When he visits Sterns, Wilson's arm is no longer in a sling. People are expected to keep their arm in a sling for four to six weeks, so the midpoint of this range can be used to place the credits scene of Captain America: Brave New World soon after the thirty-fifth day since the climax, approximately the day after, May 24, 2027.
