2021[]
February[]
- Karolina Dean holds a 21st birthday party. Her girlfriend from college, Julie, and Alex Wilder are among the attendees, and Julie and Wilder meet at the party.[1][2]
May[]

- Karolina Dean lives with her girlfriend Julie at the University of California, Los Angeles, her plans for 2022 already on her fridge as she continues her psychology major. She tells Julie that nothing is wrong, but Julie asks if Dean is melancholy because it is the 3-year anniversary of Gert Yorkes' death, and Dean says that she and her friends pledged to move on and try to lead normal lives. She then leaves for college.[2][3]
- At Atlas Academy, Molly Hernandez, at the very end of her senior year with days left before graduation, leads the school dance squad. Following the training, Brianna approaches Hernandez and tells her that they are going to miss her when she graduates. Hernandez says that she loves being part of the prep and that it is a dream come true.[2][3]
- At the Hostel, Old Lace sleeps in her den until she hears Hernandez come in. She runs to Hernandez, who pets the dinosaur and asks if she has seen Chase Stein.[2][3]
- Hernandez goes to Stein's workshop and suggests that they mark the anniversary of Yorkes' death, but Stein refuses, saying that his mind is on quantum entanglement. Hernandez says that she would really appreciate it if Stein was around as her friend, but he says that he cannot, apologizes to her, and closes the door.[2][3]
- Alex Wilder gives an interview to Buzzcom about his company, Wilder Innovators, talking about free Internet access for low-income neighborhoods and building a public school with a computer lab that even NASA would covet. The reporter asks Alex if he is prepared for the investigations into his father's criminal past, his mother's death, and his past being a teenage fugitive, but Wilder tells the reporter that his life is an open book.[2][3]
- Stein calls Wilder and says that he needs some specs again. Wilder goes to his office, opens the Abstract, sending the specs to Stein.[2][3]
- Nico Minoru meditates, hovering magically above the ground, before going to her phone. She texts the Runaways, asking to meet to commemorate the anniversary of Yorkes' death.[3][4][2]
- The Runaways come together at the Hostel to mark Yorkes' death together.[4][2]

The season then spans two more days until November 20, 2017 when the team is taken to the Dark Dimension at the end of Rite of Thunder. In The Great Escape, while explaining to "Tina Minoru" the slow progress on Wizard's 5G program, Mita Nansari says, "The third quarter issue with wave device battery drainage was also [...] unexpected," implying the third quarter of the year, July-September, was fairly recently, fitting with this now being November, during the fourth quarter of the year. At the beginning of Lord of Lies, a flashback to Amy Minoru's memorial service, which is implied to be soon after her death, is shown to be "two years ago." With Minoru's death occurring in October 2015 (see 2015 references), this maintains that the present day is still in late 2017, having not yet crossed over into 2018.
In Enter The Dreamland and Merry Meet Again, upon the group's return to the real world, it is said that they were in the Dark Dimension for "six months," making this now May 2018. In Merry Meet Again, Dale Yorkes says that it is now "Day 189 of living off the grid," making it either 188 or 189 days since the end of Season 2 (depending on whether or not Dale is counting inclusively), so either May 22, 2018 or May 23, 2018. As he says this, a calendar can be seen in the background, and, although the days of the week do not match May 2018, it can be seen that Yorkes has crossed off 22 days, making this the 23rd of the month, fitting perfectly with May 23, 2018. From here, the present day events continue until May 26, 2018.
In Merry Meet Again, Karolina Dean states, "We did miss a lot the last six months. Graduation, prom, summer jobs, making any plans for the future." Although this works nicely with them having missed prom and graduation, both of which would have happened in or around May, the mention of them missing "summer jobs" implies this is at the very end of the summer, so around August, rather than earlier. However, in The Broken Circle, Chase Stein tells Gert Yorkes that she hasn't missed the "late registration deadline" for entering into Smith College, presumably for the fall semester. The late registration deadline for most colleges is generally around late August, which, if this scene were to occur at the very end of summer, would only be days away. Yorkes expresses earlier in Merry Meet Again that she seeks to get a part-time job and a GED before entering college, which she would have significantly more time to accomplish if this were the beginning of summer rather than the end. In Cheat The Gallows, on what is stated to be the three-year anniversary of Gert Yorkes' death, Molly Hernandez is shown to be in her senior year during school time and is implied to be graduating soon, with one of her classmates telling her, "We're really gonna miss you when you graduate, Molly." This implies that this is around May 2021, with her senior graduation just around the corner, thus making Gert Yorkes' death May 2018, with graduation having just happened. Additionally, Dean has a schedule up for her "Summer 2022" semester of college. Although the year is incorrect, this reiterates that this is during the summer semester, which would have started in May, as opposed to the start of the fall semester, which would have started in August. Later, Julie implies that Dean's birthday in "February" was not that long ago, which fits better with May as opposed to August. Finally, and most importantly, the present day events of the season ending in May 2018 places the show just barely before Avengers: Infinity War, which would not only be very problematic for the setting of the season if it were to partially occur after the Snap, with the event never being addressed by any of the characters, but Jeph Loeb confirmed that the seasons released in the wake of Infinity War would mostly occur before the Snap (1, 2), which would almost certainly apply to this season. Thus, it can be assumed that Dean is referring to the Runaways having the missed the opportunity to apply for and get summer jobs, which occurs during the spring for most high schoolers.
In Devil's Torture Chamber, a letter is momentarily shown with a "July 25, 2019" date. Similar to Karolina Dean's "Summer 2022" timetable, which also operates off of the belief that the latter half of the season takes place in mid-2019, this may easily be discarded as an error, as this places the events of the entire show after the Snap, which is highly unlikely. - ↑ 4.0 4.1 In Cheat The Gallows, Alex Wilder and Chase Stein travel back from 2028 to 2021 and cause a diverging reality, just before Nico Minoru's meditation. It is referenced that in the reality they came from, after that, Minoru texted the Runaways and then they all met up to commemorate the anniversary of Yorkes' death.
