"When you do things for other people, you get strength from that. From them. And no matter how many times you go down, you get right back up. Over and over, as many times as you have to."

    Old Lace and Yorkes

Gert Yorkes and Molly Hernandez watch Dale create the serum. He gives it to Hernandez, but Gert realizes that it could weaken her connection to Old Lace. She reluctantly locks up Old Lace for safety, and then takes the serum.[1][2]

      The Runaways kneel

Le Fay tells the Runaways that she is too strong to kill, even using the Staff of One. She offers to spare the Runaways' lives in exchange for submission, but Minoru refuses. Le Fay tries to convince them that she can change the world for the better, and Wilder kneels, accepting defeat. All of the other Runaways kneel as Minoru watches.[1][2]
    • Dale Yorkes watches and tells Stacey, Geoffrey Wilder, and Leslie Dean that le Fay has won.[1][2]
    • Le Fay threatens Minoru, but Janet Stein finishes disrupting the phones. This weakens le Fay, and the Runaways stand up, telling her that their submission was merely an act. She attacks the Runaways, but Minoru magically protects them from le Fay's attack as they run for cover.[1][2]

    • Le Fay overwhelms Karolina Dean and starts to torture her. Hernandez and Yorkes approach her from behind, but she throws the two of them out of the way, with Yorkes landing on a chandelier, causing her to start to bleed. Distressed, Old Lace bangs at the locked door of the room she is being held in.[1][2]
    • Le Fay refers to the Runaways as "pathetic children", prompting a speech from Yorkes in which she mocks le Fay's outfit. She talks about le Fay's desperate quest for power, and walks in a circle around le Fay, dropping salt behind her as she goes.[1][2]
    • Yorkes smiles as she closes the circle, trapping le Fay, and Tina Minoru arrives and banishes le Fay back to the Dark Dimension for good, causing the storm outside to end.[1][2]
  • Gert Yorkes collapses as she bleeds out. Stein rushes to hold her, and she caresses his face one final time, but dies in his arms.[1][2]
  • Stein weeps, and the Runaways and PRIDE gather around Yorkes to mourn her. Old Lace breaks out of her room and roars with sadness.[1][2]

The season then spans two more days until November 20, 2017 when the team is taken to the Dark Dimension at the end of Rite of Thunder. In The Great Escape, while explaining to "Tina Minoru" the slow progress on Wizard's 5G program, Mita Nansari says, "The third quarter issue with wave device battery drainage was also [...] unexpected," implying the third quarter of the year, July-September, was fairly recently, fitting with this now being November, during the fourth quarter of the year. At the beginning of Lord of Lies, a flashback to Amy Minoru's memorial service, which is implied to be soon after her death, is shown to be "two years ago." With Minoru's death occurring in October 2015 (see 2015 references), this maintains that the present day is still in late 2017, having not yet crossed over into 2018.
In Enter The Dreamland and Merry Meet Again, upon the group's return to the real world, it is said that they were in the Dark Dimension for "six months," making this now May 2018. In Merry Meet Again, Dale Yorkes says that it is now "Day 189 of living off the grid," making it either 188 or 189 days since the end of Season 2 (depending on whether or not Dale is counting inclusively), so either May 22, 2018 or May 23, 2018. As he says this, a calendar can be seen in the background, and, although the days of the week do not match May 2018, it can be seen that Yorkes has crossed off 22 days, making this the 23rd of the month, fitting perfectly with May 23, 2018. From here, the present day events continue until May 26, 2018.
In Merry Meet Again, Karolina Dean states, "We did miss a lot the last six months. Graduation, prom, summer jobs, making any plans for the future." Although this works nicely with them having missed prom and graduation, both of which would have happened in or around May, the mention of them missing "summer jobs" implies this is at the very end of the summer, so around August, rather than earlier. However, in The Broken Circle, Chase Stein tells Gert Yorkes that she hasn't missed the "late registration deadline" for entering into Smith College, presumably for the fall semester. The late registration deadline for most colleges is generally around late August, which, if this scene were to occur at the very end of summer, would only be days away. Yorkes expresses earlier in Merry Meet Again that she seeks to get a part-time job and a GED before entering college, which she would have significantly more time to accomplish if this were the beginning of summer rather than the end. In Cheat The Gallows, on what is stated to be the three-year anniversary of Gert Yorkes' death, Molly Hernandez is shown to be in her senior year during school time and is implied to be graduating soon, with one of her classmates telling her, "We're really gonna miss you when you graduate, Molly." This implies that this is around May 2021, with her senior graduation just around the corner, thus making Gert Yorkes' death May 2018, with graduation having just happened. Additionally, Dean has a schedule up for her "Summer 2022" semester of college. Although the year is incorrect, this reiterates that this is during the summer semester, which would have started in May, as opposed to the start of the fall semester, which would have started in August. Later, Julie implies that Dean's birthday in "February" was not that long ago, which fits better with May as opposed to August. Finally, and most importantly, the present day events of the season ending in May 2018 places the show just barely before Avengers: Infinity War, which would not only be very problematic for the setting of the season if it were to partially occur after the Snap, with the event never being addressed by any of the characters, but Jeph Loeb confirmed that the seasons released in the wake of Infinity War would mostly occur before the Snap (1, 2), which would almost certainly apply to this season. Thus, it can be assumed that Dean is referring to the Runaways having the missed the opportunity to apply for and get summer jobs, which occurs during the spring for most high schoolers.
In Devil's Torture Chamber, a letter is momentarily shown with a "July 25, 2019" date. Similar to Karolina Dean's "Summer 2022" timetable, which also operates off of the belief that the latter half of the season takes place in mid-2019, this may easily be discarded as an error, as this places the events of the entire show after the Snap, which is highly unlikely.
  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 3.5 3.6 3.7 Runaways: 3.10: Cheat The Gallows
  4. 4.0 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 In Cheat The Gallows, 2018 events are shown simultaneous to the events of The Broken Circle. With the time-traveled Runaways making no impacts of significance in many parts of the Hostel until 2028 Stein stops 2018 Yorkes from taking the salt, most of the events of The Broken Circle up to that point can be taken to play out essentially identically in the main reality. Similarly, events such as the Yorkes parents talking about the blender and Karolina Dean and Nico Minoru talking, shown only in Cheat The Gallows, are unaffected by the time-traveled Runaways' actions, so can be taken to have also happened in the The Broken Circle reality.
  5. 5.0 5.1 In Cheat The Gallows, it is said that when Nico Minoru left the Runaways after Gert Yorkes' death, she was "gone for 3 years" before their reunion on Yorkes' 3-year anniversary. So, she must have left not long after Yorkes' death. When she talks to her younger self later in the episode, she says, "I know what's going through your mind. You think that you can't have it all [...] I think I made a mistake in this moment," implying she made up her mind that day, on May 26, 2018 (see other references). So, it can be taken that Minoru left around a few days later, so around May 29, 2018. This can also be assumed as when the Runaways made their pledge "to move on, to try to lead normal lives".
