Her father gets distracted, due to a fight between Jessica and Phillip over a video game, causing their car to crash with a truck that is carrying a container of chemicals. The Jones family die in the crash. Eventually, the corpse of Jessica is retrieved by IGH, they do experiments on her resurrecting her, but giving her powers as a side effect. The horrific experience would affect Jessica's deeply as she decided to investigate the situation 17 years later.[13][14]
- Talent agent Dorothy Walker pays IGH for Jones' medical bills while she is comatose, hoping to adopt her as a publicity stunt to promote her daughter Patsy's television show.[13][14]

- Alisa Jones wakes in the Industrial Garments & Handling Facility, bewildered. She is greeted by a nurse named Luanne McClure, who tries to calm her down. However, when Jones sees her reflection and sees her face mangled and burned, she panics and becomes angry, breaking out of the room and attacking nurses in the corridor to escape. She finds a girl walking down the corridor and grabs hold of her, but a doctor at the facility, Karl Malus, gets to her and sedates her, informing her that the girl is her daughter, Jessica, so she should not want to hurt her.[15][16]

- After awakening from her coma, Jessica Jones overhears Trish "Patsy" Walker talking about the fact Jones' parents and brother are all dead. Right after, Jessica Jones is adopted by the Walker family.[13][17]

- Rite of Blood: The nine PRIDE parents meet in the Wilder Mansion basement, wearing red gowns and performing the Rite of Blood for the first time. Leslie Dean leads 17-year-old[25] runaway Brooks Watten into a Dematerialization Box, and he is sacrificed, his energy transferred to Jonah to revitalize him. Most of the PRIDE members are shocked at the death, but Dean tells them they all signed up to do this when they agreed to accept Jonah's gifts over the years. Geoffrey Wilder notices a camera that has filmed the event, and Tina Minoru explains that the recording has uploaded to the Wizard server, saying she knew about and willingly went along with the event to protect their children. The group realize what they are now trapped into doing.[64][65]
- Tina Minoru returns home to her baby daughter, Nico. She goes to her toddler daughter Amy, only to find Jonah sitting with Amy, having got rid of the babysitter. Jonah thanks her for keeping the recording of the Rite of Blood on her server and standing up to the rest of PRIDE, but Tina says she only did it because of Jonah's threats, not out of loyalty. Tina picks up Amy, scared of her being around Jonah, and Jonah goes to leave, commenting that daughters can become rebellious when they hit their teenage years.[64][71]

- Infiltration into the Burkov Mining Facility:
- Phil Coulson, a Level 4 agent, is sent to this facility on a S.H.I.E.L.D. mission with Melinda May, Level 3.[172][173]
- Coulson and May's orders are to retrieve the 0-8-4 in Russia. They are discovered by Ivanov's SVR soldiers while cracking a safe. Coulson tries to negotiate with the Russian soldiers, claiming that he has been sent to investigate a biohazard leak, although Ivanov's commander remains highly skeptical of him.[172][173]
- May escapes with the 0–8–4, abandoning Coulson, causing him to be captured by the SVR Soldiers. May soon returns, attacking Ivanov and his unit and freeing Coulson. They escape with the 0–8–4.[172][173]
- As a result of this, Ivanov's unit are tortured and executed for their failure, although Ivanov manages to escape the same punishment. Ivanov goes on to directly blame Coulson and all of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the incident which killed his unit.[172][173]

- Heading out, Karen Page finds out that Paxton is buying a new $5000 grill. She tries to stop him, worried about how they can afford it, but Paxton insists on buying, saying they will figure something out.[190][145]
- Karen Page serves Cohen his breakfast, but he points out blood in the eggs, as she realizes her nose is dripping. Kevin lets Karen know he has worked out she is not sober, but she avoids talking about it.[190][145]
- As Karen Page takes out the bins, Kevin goes to speak to her. She admits to her drug use, but he says that is not what he wants to talk about. Kevin hands her a letter from Georgetown College telling her they have accepted her place, and Kevin explains that while she had deferred before, he reapplied for her in the hope she can get away from home for her own sake.[190][145]
- Todd Neiman and Karen Page discuss the college placement, and agree that she will not go. Neiman suggests letting the diner just go under, but she says that it is important to her father to keep it, as it is all they have left of their mother. Neiman tells Page she could come and work for him full-time if necessary, and that they could visit places together if they wanted. She sees this, however, as an unrealistic dream. Karen gets a call from her father, telling her to come back immediately.[190][145]
- On returning to Penny's Place, Paxton Page reveals he wanted her to be present for dinner. Paxton says that she seems bored at work and that he knows she spends time with Neiman, expressing his disapproval. Karen becomes angry and says that she should not leave for college, that the diner will go under without her, and when Paxton disagrees, she angrily tells him that her mother did not even like the diner, or the area, and only stuck around for him. Page grabs the scratch card they have been keeping since she died from cancer, never scratched and kept as a sign of hope, and decides to scratch it off and end the false hope she feels Paxton clings to. Finding that the card was another losing one, she sadly says that they all lose.[190][145]
- Todd Neiman arrives to pick up Karen Page in his car. Kevin comes out of the diner and says Karen cannot just leave with him. Neiman tells Kevin he should have asked before sending the college letter, but Kevin retaliates by threatening to tell Chief Bernie Cohen about his drug-dealing. Karen explains that if he did, she too would be imprisoned, and gets in the car, with Neiman driving them away.[190][145]
- Todd Neiman and Karen Page snort cocaine and drink together in Neiman's car. Neiman becomes concerned at how much she is consuming at once.[190][145]
- Attack on Kevin Page: Driving to their trailer, they find the place on fire, and Kevin Page standing beside it, having been the one to set it ablaze, hoping it will help keep Karen away from the drugs. Neiman grabs a crowbar and starts beating Kevin, hitting Karen when she tries to stop him. Karen grabs a gun from Neiman's car and threatens Neiman with it, telling him to get away from Kevin. When he goes to hit Kevin again, she shoots him in the arm to stop him and grabs Kevin, getting him into Neiman's car and driving off.[190][145]
- As Karen Page drives her injured and bloodied brother, she asks why he would do what he did, insisting she would have fixed their situation. He says that he already lost their mother, doing it because he could not lose her too. Not paying attention to the road due to being high, Page crashes into a roadside rail, overturning the car.[190][145]
- Karen Page wakes, having been knocked unconscious, still strapped to her car seat. Looking over, however, she sees to her horror that Kevin has been killed by her recklessness.[190][145]

She goes to set off a detonation, but he freezes before he can bring himself to put her down, and she blows herself up in a suicide bombing. The child Hoyle is helping is killed, and Hoyle loses a leg. Castle drags Hoyle out, and Hoyle thanks him, but Castle feels guilty.[193][194]

Walker parties with friends and asks Jones whether she likes the video, but Jones bluntly says that she finds the song annoying. Walker heads with friends to the bathroom and Jones attempts to stop her, telling her that she knows she is off to take drugs and that she needs to stop. Walker ignores her.[230][16]
- Jones goes to the bar and finds Dorothy Walker, Trish's mother. She asks what she is doing at the venue since Trish does not like her mother due to the uncaring way she brought her up, and tells Dorothy that Trish is taking drugs. The bartender, Stirling Adams, is friendly to Jones, but his boss reprimands him, saying he is overpouring drinks. - Walker tries to convince Jones to party with her, but Jones insists that she needs to study. They begin to argue, with Walker saying Jones is ungrateful to her considering she is the source of her tuition funding, but Jones says she only uses Walker's money because she had insisted, and states that she would be fine on her own, opening a cash machine up with her strength to demonstrate her point. Walker tells her not to come to her for help when she gets herself arrested, and Jones retorts the same for when Walker inevitably overdoses. Walker is driven away, and Adams finds Jones again, cheering her up as he jokes that he will buy her a drink.[230][16]

She breaks free of the cuffs restraining her in case of anger and moves to attack, losing control again, but Malus manages to sedate her.[246][16]
- Jessica Jones and Stirling Adams kiss on the street, having become close and moved in together after Jones dropped out of college, and Adams tries to guess her middle name. She refuses to tell him, but he pickpockets her to check her ID, finding out her middle name is "Campbell", which Jones explains was her mother's maiden name. Adams says he would like to get her something special, eyeing up a leather jacket in a shop window. Jones smiles and breaks into the shop to take it. Jones takes him aside and asks if that was the only reason he was interested in seeing Walker, but he says he was only taking an opportunity. She says that they do not need to, since they can get whatever they want, whenever.[246][16]
- Escape from the Industrial Garments & Handling Facility: Inez Green and Luanne McClure tend to Alisa Jones, believing she is sedated. Green begins to unlocks Jones' cuffs. McClure realizes, however, that Jones has not taken the necessary dosage of pills, and tries to warn Green but is too late - Jones jumps from her bed and throws Green across the room. Green crashes into a glass cabinet and gets shards of glass embedded in her back. Jones threatens McClure, demanding to know where Jessica is, and she tells her she is with Patsy Walker's family. Jones lets her go, but when McClure then rushes to trigger an alarm, Jones grabs her again and snaps her neck, before leaving.[246][16]

- Attack on Wyatt's Crew: Soon after midnight, Jessica Jones and Stirling Adams return to their apartment. Their chatting is interrupted by a group of young men breaking into the apartment, led by a man named Wyatt. Wyatt demands money from Adams, having invested in his "Alias" club startup and got nothing in return yet. Adams and Jones attempt to tell Wyatt that the business is simply taking time, but Wyatt starts a fight. Jones defends Adams, attacking Wyatt and easily overpowering him with her super strength, forcing him and his group to leave.[246][16]

- Murder of Stirling Adams:
- Alisa Jones follows Adams outside and watches as Wyatt confronts Adams, demanding to know what other special talents Jessica has considering she managed to beat them all up so easily. Adams reluctantly agrees to let his girlfriend work for them, saying that he can convince her since she loves him and will do whatever he says. While Adams is only trying to talk his way out of the conversation, Alisa Jones misinterprets the conversation and believes that Adams is using Jessica.
- Inside the bar, Jessica Jones asks the bartender where Adams is, but he does not know. She heads outside to find him. Alisa Jones confronts Adams, furious at him for seemingly exploiting her daughter. He tries to explain that he was trying to just get them off his back, but she loses her temper and her dissociative anger disorder kicks in. He asks who she is, and she snarls that she is Jessica's mother before grabbing his head and angrily beating it against the wall repeatedly, killing him. Jessica Jones turns the corner and is horrified to see Adams' body. She breaks down and cries as Alisa watches from a fire escape above, regretting her actions and realizing that she cannot now reintroduce herself to her daughter.[246][16]

Shang-Chi watches in horror, getting out of the way as a man is thrown in his direction.[291][32]
- Wenwu steps on the man, demanding to know where his boss is. The man insists that he does not know, and Wenwu kills him. Shang-Chi watches, terrified. - That night, William Lopez sits in bed with his daughter and makes shadow puppets. Maya asks William says what sound the sky makes, so William says that it is quiet, like her. Maya asks what sound dragons make, so William growls and signs "growling," making Maya laugh. Maya asks if dragons are real, so William says that they live in a different world. Maya asks what would happen if they came to the human world, and William says it would make them stronger.[26][297]
- Maya asks her father why she is not attending a deaf school, and William apologizes to her, insisting it will be better for her. Maya asks if she will have to stop signing, so William explains that she will have to learn to jump between both the hearing and deaf worlds by watching.[26][297]

The Hernandezes hear the lab door close behind them, which confuses them, and when Gene goes to check, he finds the door locked. The couple are unable to get out, as Molly meanwhile continues to play with the rock. Gene and Alice realize an explosive has been placed in the room as it lights up to detonate, and they rush to protect Molly as it goes off.[314][71]

- An hour and twelve minutes later, Rhodes and Stark walk into a club, agreeing that Potts can easily outmaneuver them. Stark sees two women and asks which one is hotter, with Rhodes responding that the brunette is. He reminds Stark of his promise to talk about Stark's upcoming trip to Afghanistan.[327][326]

He then walks away with Eloise to go back to his house. Celeste asks if Rhodes is going, finding him cute, so Rhodes agrees to go.[327][326]
- As they walk out, Stark accidentally walks into a man who recognizes him as the man who left with his partner the week prior. The man punches Stark, but Rhodes punches the guy in retaliation. The two men begin fighting.[327][326]

Celeste says she does not have five hundred dollars, so Stark gives her the money so he could win it back. - Happy Hogan escorts Rhodes and Stark outside, where Stark is approached by Vanity Fair reporter Christine Everhart, who questions him on the morals of war profiteering. - Kidnapping of Tony Stark:
- Stark is driven back to base by a military convoy and jokes with the soldiers. Jimmy Ryan asks to take a picture, which Stark accepts. Adam Pratt readies the camera when the Humvee in front of them explodes due to an attack by the Ten Rings.[328][329][164]
- Pratt, Jimmy and Ramirez rush to engage in the firefight, ordering Stark to stay inside. Stark watches as the three soldiers are killed. before running for cover behind a rock and tries to call for help, but is horrified to see that Stark Industries Fragmentation Shells were being used when one lands next to him. The missile explodes, sending shrapnel into Stark's chest as he passes out from shock.[328][329][164]
- The Ten Rings take Stark captive, keeping him in a cave. While Stark is unconscious, fellow inmate, Ho Yinsen works to save Stark's life by implanting a small electromagnet into his chest, keeping the shrapnel from his heart. Yinsen attaches the magnet to a car battery to power it. Stark screams in pain as Yinsen finishes the surgery.[328][329][164]
- Sometime later, Stark wakes up to the Ten Rings holding him captive and recording a video, telling someone that they do not intend to kill the great Tony Stark. The speaker threatens Stane for his deception.[328][329][164]
- Stark wakes up in the cave, and attempts to move, but Yinsen advises against it. Stark realizes that he is connected to an car battery powering a magnet in his chest.[328][329][164]
- Yinsen makes dinner as he explains the magnet to Stark, telling him that the shrapnel would kill Stark in a matter of days were it not for the magnet. Stark realizes that they are on camera, and Yinsen mentions when he and Stark had met, but Stark does not remember. The conversation is interrupted by Abu Bakaar welcoming Stark and instructing him to build a Jericho missile in exchange for his life. Stark refuses, but is dunked underwater until he complies.[328][329][164]
- Bakaar and his men carry Stark outside the cave, to show Stark their supply of Stark Industries weapons, explaining that once the Jericho is finished, Stark will be set free. Bakaar shakes Stark's hand as Stark and Yinsen agree that Bakaar is lying about releasing him.[328][329][164]

- Back in the cave, Ho Yinsen and Tony Stark sit by the fire. Yinsen laments to Stark, asking him if creating weapons used by murderers is what Stark wants his legacy to be. The hopeless Stark says that this will not be his legacy.[328][329][164]

The man gets irritated at her for not being able to talk and starts mocking Lopez. Wilson Fisk watches from his car and gets angry. Lopez goes into the car and Fisk helps her unpack. He then tells her to wait there as he does something.[304][297]
- Fisk walks over to the vendor and grabs him from behind, throwing him into an alley wall. Fisk grabs the vendor, throwing him head first into a dumpster. As the man puts his hands up in defense, Fisk repeatedly punches him, staining his suit and hands with blood.[304][297]
- Fisk calms down and calls an employee, telling them to bring him a fresh set of clothes as he does not want Lopez seeing the blood. However, he hangs up when he sees that Lopez is looking at him from the street, having seen the beating. Fisk holds up his hand, telling her not to be afraid. To his surprise, Lopez runs over to the ice cream vendor and kicks him. Fisk then takes her hand and they walk away together.[304][297]

- Eva Belyakov, a member of the Inhuman community in Afterlife, goes rogue after Jiaying refuses to allow Belyakov's unstable daughter, Katya, to go through Terrigenesis. She takes with her an assortment of stolen Terrigen Crystals, which she uses to transform Katya without the proper mental conditioning. Katya develops sensory manipulating powers and a hunger for pain. The mother-daughter duo travel to Bahrain, where they create chaos by using Katya's powers to sap the emotional energies from local civilians.[335][336]

- Rescue in Bahrain:
- S.H.I.E.L.D. takes notice of Eva Belyakov's activities and tracks her down to Manama, Bahrain. A team led by Phil Coulson and Melinda May is dispatched to analyze Belyakov for the Index; they are unaware of Katya's involvement or powers.[335][336]
- Eva and Katya Belyakov assume control of a group of gangsters and hold the entire S.H.I.E.L.D., minus Coulson and May, hostage within a warehouse. May ventures into the warehouse alone and crosses off the controlled gangsters and Eva. Katya reveals herself to May and nearly uses her powers to kill the subjugated S.H.I.E.L.D. team, forcing May to shoot her dead. - Abu Bakaar interrupts Stark as he welds. Al-Wazar enters and recounts Gengis Khan's rule over Asia, comparing it to his own potential empire. Al-Wazar asks Stark and Yinsen why they failed to build the missile, and Yinsen replies that they are working. Al-Wazar does not believe him and orders his men to bring Yinsen to his knees.[337][329][164]
- The Ten Rings force Yinsen onto the ground as al-Wazar readies a hot rock to put in his mouth. Al-Wazar demands the truth, but Yinsen insists they are building the Jericho. Stark attempts to intervene, telling al-Wazar that he needs Yinsen to be his assistant. Al-Wazar gives them until the next day to finish the missile.[337][329][164]
- Stark repeatedly hammers a piece of heated metal, forming it into a helmet. Stark places it into water to cool it before showing it to Yinsen.[337][329][164]

- Tony Stark puts wraps on his hands as Ho Yinsen readies the battle suit. Stark quickly puts on a leather bodysuit and rubber gloves.[337][329][164]
- Yinsen lowers the chest plate onto Stark. Yinsen assembles the rest of the armor onto Stark as they go over Stark's escape plan.[337][329][164]
- Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar looks to the security cameras, not seeing Stark. He sends his men to find Stark.[337][329][164]
- The men arrive at Stark and Yinsen's cell, yelling for Yinsen to stop in Hungarian. Yinsen tries to answer them despite not speaking Hungarian. Getting tired of waiting, the men open the door, which was rigged to explode by Stark. Al-Wazar sees the video feed cut out and orders his men to attack. Yinsen works to program the suit as Stark gives him specific instructions.[337][329][164]
- Yinsen screws the suit shut as the men approach. He realizes that the suit will not be done in time and decides to buy Stark time by shooting at the Ten Rings' soldiers. Stark yells for him to come back but he has already left.[337][329][164]
- Yinsen shoots at the men, only to be cornered and fatally wounded.[337][329][164]
- The suit reaches full power, causing the lights to flicker. Ten Rings members rush into the cell, finding it empty. Stark attacks one of the men, taking them out. The remaining men open fire, but Stark attacks them in the suit. Stark heads down the hallway, killing Ten Rings members as he passes.[337][329][164]
- Some of the men hide behind a door. Stark destroys the door and punches a wall, causing his arm to get stuck. The fleeing men attempt to shoot him, but are taken out by the ricocheting bullets. Stark frees his arm and continues forward.[337][329][164]
- al-Wazar goes to see the commotion with a grenade launcher with him as Stark finds Yinsen in critical condition. Yinsen tries to warn Stark but al-Wazar fires at Stark, who fires his own missile at al-Wazar, burying him in rubble. Stark rushes over to Yinsen, planning to rescue him, but Yinsen tells him that dying was always his plan, and that he will be reunited with his family in death. In his final breaths, Yinsen warns Stark to not waste his life.[337][329][164]
- Ten Rings members aim for the cave exit as Stark's footsteps echo. Stark reaches the cave exit as the men open fire. Stark activates his flamethrower, wiping them all out. Stark makes his way through the Ten Rings Base, destroying all of his weapons. As the base goes up in flames, Stark attempts to fly away, but instead crashes into the desert sands.[164][329][337]
- Stark's first flight ends up on the radar of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Jasper Sitwell notifies Nick Fury that there is contact west of the Kunar Mountain Range, believing it to be an aircraft, but that it is too small. Sitwell explains that the energy signature is unlike anything he has ever seen. Sitwell then loses the contact. Fury concludes that it could be the first solid lead that they've gotten on Stark and tells Sitwell to notify the United States Department of Defense.[337][329][340]
- After crashing into the sand, Stark takes off the armor, finding it to be destroyed.[337][329][164]
- Stark wanders through the desert overnight.[337][329][340]
- Stark continues his trek through the desert until he is found by the United States Air Force. Stark yells in excitement and waves his hand as the helicopter lands. James Rhodes runs out of it, relieved to find Stark alive, and hugs his friend.[337][329][164]
3rd[]
- The United States Air Force escort Tony Stark back to Edwards Air Force Base in California. Pepper Potts tearfully greets Stark as he exits the plane. Stark and Potts get into Happy Hogan's car, where Stark refuses to go to the hospital and asks for an American cheeseburger and to hold a press conference.[337][329][164]
- Hogan and Stark arrive at the Stark Industries Headquarters, where Stark is hugged by Obadiah Stane as people applaud Stark's safe return. Stark grabs his Burger King order before heading inside.[337][329][164]
- Inside, Potts is greeted by Phil Coulson from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Potts remarks at the length of the agency's name, and Coulson asks to debrief Stark about his escape. Stark begins the conference by asking everyone to sit down, wishing for the event to be less formal. Stark talks about how he wonders if his father had doubts about his company making weapons, revealing that he witnessed young American soldiers get killed by his weapons.[337][329][164]
- A reporter asks what had happened in Afghanistan, and Stark reveals that he had realized that he can do more for the world than simply making weapons, adding that he will be shutting down weapon production at Stark Industries, causing the crowd to erupt into questions as Stane pulls Stark away. Stane tells the reporters to glad that Stark has returned healthily.[337][329][164]
- Stark meets with Stane, who voices his concerns with Stark's decision. Stark tells him that he wants his legacy to be more than weapons, and Stane replies that it is their job. Stark suggests looking further into Arc Reactor technology, which Stane dismisses before Stark reveals the miniaturized Arc Reactor embedded in his chest. Stane reminds Stark that they are a team and that Stark should not make big decisions by himself.[337][329][164]
- Stark returns home and is greeted by J.A.R.V.I.S., who says that he had calculated a 0.25% that Stark would make it home safe. Stark finds a new watch on the table, with a note from Obadiah Stane saying "Thank god it wasn't you time." Stark admires the watch before putting it on. J.A.R.V.I.S. reveals that Stark has 1,713 missed voicemails. Stark scrolls through a few of them before deleting them all. J.A.R.V.I.S. detects electromagnetic energy, and Stark tells him to start their scanner.[337][329][331]
4th[]
- Pepper Potts grimaces as she watches Mad Money host Jim Cramer rant about Stark Industries' stock prices plummeting. Tony Stark calls for Potts, asking her for help in his garage.[337][329][164]
- Potts goes downstairs, where Stark asks her help in replacing his electromagnet with a newer Arc Reactor. Potts squeamishly helps him with the operation, nearly causing him a cardiac arrest from a mistake she makes, but ultimately succeeding in the procedure. Stark then tells her to simply destroy of the old reactor, but she decides against it.[337][329][164]
- Tony Stark starts a new log, dating this test as "Day One". He notes how his Iron Man Armor: Mark I originally was meant to escape as well as to stop the shrapnel from reaching his heart. However, now he wants to make a Mark II which he can use take down others who have his weapons.[341][329][342]
5th[]
- Only a few days after his return, and with his injuries healed, Tony Stark visits James Rhodes at Edwards Air Force Base as he talks to air force recruits in a hangar. He explains to Rhodes that he is considering starting a new project, asking Rhodes to be a part of it. Stark explains that the project is not for the military, prompting Rhodes to say Stark needs more time to get his mind right before walking away.[343][329][164]
- In his garage, Stark instructs J.A.R.V.I.S. to open a file for his secret new design project, dubbing it "Mark II." Stark renders a projection of the Mark I's blueprints, and strips away unnecessary parts, attempting to perfect the design.[343][329][164]
- In Afghanistan, members of the Ten Rings search the desert sands, where they find the scattered remnants of the suit of armor Tony Stark had used to escape.[343][329][164]
- In his garage, Tony Stark works on his new armor, putting together the boots of the suit, with help from Dum-E. Stark and Dum-E struggle with each other, and Stark makes fun of the robot.[164][343]
- Stark begins his log of tests for the new Mark II armor, beginning testing. Stark has Dum-E stand by for fire safety, while U records Stark's test. Stark first begins by testing the flight capabilities. However, he underestimates the power of the thrusters, and flies up and backwards into the wall behind him, before falling to the ground. Dum-E sprays Stark with a fire extinguisher despite the lack of anything on fire.[164][343]

- Late into the night, Tony Stark works in his garage, looking at renders of the Mark II, designing handheld thrusters.[343][329][164]
- Stark manipulates a holographic render of the handheld thrusters, before sliding his arm into it.[343][329][164]
12th[]
- In his garage, Tony Stark tries on the newly fabricated arm thruster, as Pepper Potts comes downstairs with a gift-wrapped box that she gives to Stark before informing that Obadiah Stane is visiting. Potts then questions Stark's making of weapons, but Stark clarifies that they are merely flight stabilizers, before activating it, blasting him backwards.[343][329][164]
- Stark goes upstairs and finds Stane, who had just returned from a trip to New York. Stane laments that the trip would have gone smoother had Stark been there, but Stark replies that he is lying low as Stane had asked him to. Stane explains that the Board wishes to lock Stark out, believing Stark's new direction to not be in the company's best interest. Stark admits that he is now being responsible, and Stane tries to ask for the specs for the Arc Reactor, but Stark refuses.[343][329][164]
15th[]
- On Day 11 of tests, Tony Stark tries again with the flight capabilities. Stark warns Dum-E not to spray him this time as U records. Stark begins the test, activating 1% thrust capacity. Stark is lifted into the air, managing to control the thrusters. He activates 2.5% thruster capacity and manages to fly around his garage, controlling the flight. Stark lands on the ground, excited that he can now fly.[343][329][164]
- Obadiah Stane ships weapons to the Ten Rings, which uses them to attack the small town of Gulmira. Pictures are taken of the attack and the weapons. As the attackers fire, Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar smokes and notes a camera filming him.[341][329][164]
- Stark dons the suit, before uploading J.A.R.V.I.S. into the suit's HUD. J.A.R.V.I.S. readies a flight simulation and data calculations, but Stark instead begins flying, ignoring J.A.R.V.I.S.'s warnings. Stark engages the thrusters and speeds through his mansion before reaching the sky. Amazed, Stark speeds higher and higher, cheering that he had truly achieved flight.[341][329][164]
- Stark flies over Malibu, further testing his HUD on people he passes.[341][329][164]
- Stark, now at mach 0.30, decides to test the suit's altitude capabilities and flies straight up, attempting to reach the world record of 85,000 feet. As Stark ascends, ice begins to build up on the suit, causing him to plummet from the sky. Stark free falls, but manages to break the ice, re-enabling his suit's flight before hitting the ground. As Stark speeds away from Malibu, he cheers at his success.[341][329][164]
- Stark returns to his mansion, and tries to land on the roof. However, he falls through the roof, landing inside his garage onto one of his cars, where Dum-E sprays the fire extinguisher once again.[341][329][164]
- Following the Mark II's crash landing, Stark holds an ice pack to his head and notices the box left behind by Pepper Potts. Upon opening it, he discovers his old Arc Reactor on the inside. Stark decides to put the Arc Reactor in a case and marks it with the text, "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart."[164][329][341]
- At their base, members of the Ten Rings work to assemble the many pieces of the Mark I as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar oversees their progress whilst holding a cigarette.[341][329][164]

- Tony Stark analyzes data from his first flight with the Mark II. Wanting to resolve the icing problem, he instructs J.A.R.V.I.S. to rebuild his suit using a gold titanium alloy. J.A.R.V.I.S. renders the model as Stark overhears the TV showing a news report on the third annual benefit at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Stark holds a prototype faceplate mask over his face as he watches the reporter says that no one expects him to appear.[341][329][164]
- J.A.R.V.I.S. finishes the render, and Stark, inspired by the color scheme of his Ford Flathead Roadster, tells J.A.R.V.I.S. to add red paint to the next suit, code-named the "Mark III". J.A.R.V.I.S. begins automated fabrication, giving an estimated completion time of five hours.[341][329][164]
- Stark drives to the Walt Disney Concert Hall to attend the third annual benefit for the Fire-Fighters Family Fund.[341][329][164]
- Stark arrives at the Concert Hall. Obadiah Stane answers news reporter's questions, stating that weapons manufacturing is just a small part Stark Industries, but is drowned out as people cheer for Stark's arrival. A woman asks if Stark remembers her, which he does not. On his way inside, Stark compliments a man who he believes to be Hugh Hefner. The man turns around, confused.[341][329][164]
- Stark approaches Stane, who expresses surprise at Stark's arrival before asking him to take this slow, as the board is right where he wants them.[341][329][164]
- Inside, Stark goes to the bar and orders a scotch, but is met by Phil Coulson. Coulson introduces himself, using his agency;s full name, causing Stark to advise him on finding a shorter name. Coulson requests a meeting with Stark, suggesting 7:00 PM on the 24th at Stark Industries Headquarters, Stark, who is focused on Pepper Potts wearing a purple backless dress, agrees, not fully listening to what Coulson had said.[341][329][164]
- Stark approaches and compliments Potts, asking where she got the dress from, and she reminds him that it was a birthday present from him. Stark offers her a dance before pulling her into it. As the pair dance, Stark asks if he is making her uncomfortable, to which she comments that she is dancing with her boss in a revealing dress. Stark jokes that he could fire her, and Potts responds that he would not last a week without her. Stark asks if she would like to get some air, which Potts agrees to as Coulson watches.[341][329][164]
- Outside, Potts and Stark disagree on whether their dancing was weird. Potts explains that Stark cannot understand why she would worry it is weird, but Stark claims she is exaggerating. Potts and Stark both lean in to kiss each other, but Potts asks for a drink. Stark leaves to get it.[341][329][164]
- Stark returns to the bar and orders Potts' drink. Christine Everhart walks over and asks about Stark Industries' involvement in the attacks on Gulmira. Stark points out that he had not approved any weapons shipments. Everhart responds that his company did, so Stark points her, saying that he is not his company.[341][329][164]
- Stark confronts Stane, showing him the pictures of Gulmira. Stane tells Stark he is being naive, but Stark says that he now has a line that they cannot cross. Stane insists on posing for a picture, before revealing to Stark that he was the one who filed the injunction against Stark, claiming to be protecting him. Stark watches angrily as Stane leaves.[341][329][164]

- Members of the Ten Rings attack and kill refugees living in Gulmira, Afghanistan. Several news agencies report on it.[341][329][164]
- Tony Stark works on the Mark III's gauntlet as he watches the news, witnessing the horrors being committed by the Ten Rings, disgusted by the fact that his weapons are responsible for the attack on his friend's hometown.[341][329][164]
