Why is that their official status when every reference to the Avengers shows that they still exist?
I think Phase 4 is the most exciting phase since Phase 2. I’m really excited to see how things develop and everything feels very solid.
Can you point me to the discussion which decided that the Avengers disbanded?
Do you have any other examples or a link to the discussion that influenced the decision to label them disbanded?
Also you’re saying that because they haven’t teamed up that implies they’re disbanded despite there being no indication that the Avengers ever teamed up between the Battle of New York and the Fall of S.H.I.E.L.D..
Shang-Chi suggests that they’re active, Eternals and She-Hulk (who is the cousin of an Avenger who was in the Shang-Chi scene in question) suggest that they’re active. Jen (who knows whether Steve Rogers is a virgin because she speaks with her cousin) doesn’t refute the idea that the Avengers exists when asked. Her only objection to her friend’s comment is that she might not get healthcare or maternity leave.
One random high school kid’s question does not mean anything.
“Fans who read and understand the source material” is a weird thing to allude to. Marvel Comics’ main continuity has been going on for 60 years and is completely separate from being able to comprehend or appreciate the MCU which is inching towards fifteen years of history.
The Avengers page on here says unequivocally that they’ve disbanded when this is not known or even implied to be the case. I move that it be changed to say their status is unknown until further confirmation.
Jason Ionello is a high school kid asking a question without any knowledge one way or the other. All that line suggests is that the Avengers have not had a major team-up since Endgame, but have clearly been operating to some degree in private because of the events of Shang-Chi. Captain Marvel is off-world in Far From Home, but that very evidently did not stop her from convening with Wong, Hulk and Shang-Chi with the same tech used in Endgame.
One of Jen’s friends suggests that She-Hulk join the Avengers, which one would not ask if the team didn’t exist.
The Eternals ask explicitly who’s going to lead the team now? At this point, Steve is referred to as “Captain Rogers” and not Captain America, suggesting a post-Falcon and the Winter Soldier timeline where the Avengers are not known to have disbanded.
