I could love if they reimagined Mephisto as a demon that decided to overthrown Satan and he eventually killed him. Later on he could become the new overlord of hell, controlling the souls of the damned and of course making innocent people his slaves to do his biding.
He could also be Hellstrom and his siblings father in this incarnation
