It’s an interesting idea, but they’re never ever going to do physical releases of the Disney+ shows.
Where I live Disney have actually ceased physical distribution full stop, so the only way to watch MCU movies is to either import copies or subscribe to Disney+.
I meant to bring that up too - the cliche of writing for the Justice League where they basically have to find a way to incapacitate or otherwise occupy Superman, so that other team members (read: Batman) can actually do something meaningful.
It was never on the cards, because Endgame was in large part a sendoff for the original cast (Hawkeye and Thor being exceptions, Hulk kind of).
Under that understanding, there is literally no way that Captain Marvel or any other character introduced in the years leading to her movie would wield the gauntlet at the climax.
And please don’t play off low grade misogyny and xenophobia as conservatism.
Reshoots are normal for every movie - there is no conceivable way that they reshot the entire ending of the movie, especially considering that the funeral had already been filmed.
The reason that people generally take issue with your opinions is this - you have weird biases that you base them around, then work backwards from there with huge leaps of logic to justify them.
Ve heard a lot of dumb takes about Endgame, but “they reworked the entire end of the movie after it had been filmed because Captain Marvel was divisive” is right up there.
You know that Endgame was filming before Captain Marvel released, right?
It was Tony because one of the big parts of Endgame was one last showing for him and Steve before they exited the MCU.
What people are taking issue with is when you express what are clearly personal opinions, but represent them as either fact or generally agreed upon opinions.
I feel like these rants are going to culminate in a post accusing Feige of stealing their brain and replacing it with plutonium.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year - I forget but was it confirmed to serve as an origin for him, or is it going to be a college freshman situation? If it’s an origin, then any reference to the snap/blip would be really weird.
That’s not what rigid means. If he was fine with that then why was he so opposed to Amit?
That was probably the thing that stuck out for me the most.
As ruthless as they seemed to be portraying Jake, that wasn’t out of character I guess.
Konshu however wasn’t nice, but very rigid morally - the idea of him being chill about his avatar needlessly killing innocents feels wrong.
What does a very British alien have to do with the Americas and the colonisation thereof?
And looking it up, Taweret had roles in the rejuvenation of the dead, and rebirth after death. So there you go - Marc was psychologically healed (to a degree), and ultimately returned from the dead. Narrative cohesion.
In all likelihood, the race swap was done because the idea of an archeological team headed by by a European has some pretty strong overtones of pillaging the Egyptian culture.
The final episode was very uneven for me, but these arguments against it aren’t great.
Layla was great and railing against her because of “diversity points” is a bit of a red flag.
(Also the complainant about her being able to take down mercenaries - oh if only, I don’t know, she had been empowered as an avatar of a god to the point where she displayed feats like ripping off a van door.)
The complaint about Tawaret ignores that almost every Egyptian deity acts as a psychopomp to one degree or another - the Egyptians were extremely focused on the subject of death and what came after, so it wasn’t the domain of one or two gods only.
The screen time time breakdown is a bit of extreme hyperbole, and kind of ignores the point of the pacing and introduction of plot elements to the audience.
Similar to that, it works better to tease Jake Lockley by showing the aftermath of him and Marc’s faintly horrified disorientation. They clearly didn’t have the time or intention to develop Jake in depth in this series (using him as a door for future Moon Knight appearances), so this is a non-issue.
Don’t have time to say much about it right now, but did I miss a Midnight Man cameo or did they opt to edit the character out?
Given what you said about the length, I’d assumed that was the case.
Oh hey, someone who like Justice League! *rimshot*
You’re allowed to have whatever opinions you like, but that doesn’t mean that anyone has to agree with you or that you’re insulated from criticism.
The first two costumes in that collage are literally the first costumes those characters appeared in.
That and they went in intending not to disrupt things. They failed at that almost as completely as they possibly could, but that’s what they intended.
