I wonder if this decision is related to Giancarlo Esposito being brought on as Sidewinder. One Serpent Society leader swapped out for another. What’s even stranger is how prominently Esposito is featured in promotional material, considering he wasn’t even in the film until the reshoots.
@Antimonitor10 Hard disagree, comics Ronan (a fierce yet noble legalist who often allied with the Earth heroes in key storylines) is vastly superior to MCU Ronan (a one-dimensional angry radical killed off in his first appearance).
I think MCU Killmonger is an improvement over the comics incarnation that existed prior to 2018, for the simple fact that comics Killmonger’s story, visual design, and political motivations were completely overhauled after 2018 to more closely match the MCU incarnation. Current comics Killmonger would not exist if Black Panther was never released.
@WizardWarrior1 Hans Zimmer's score is a huge W, especially "Gap." It gave the film a more ominous mood than other X-Men films. Performances are generally great, including Jean and Magneto and especially Xavier and Beast. Characterization of Professor X was spot on. The action sequences are amazing; I consider the train fight quite memorable. For those reasons, I actually enjoyed the film.
Weakest part of the film is the story, of course. The entire thing felt very rushed, since (1) we hardly spent meaningful time with Sophie Turner's Jean, much less with Phoenix Force-infected Jean, and (2) the film was rewritten and reworked into oblivion. And the D'Bari villains were a huge miss.
I would have loved to see the original two-film idea featuring the Hellfire Club and Shi'ar Empire as the respective antagonist of each part.
Also Krypto in Superman is amazing, what are you talking about haha
@IronWidowMaikuB to add, the Deadline article that broke this says that the initial plan was for Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell to star together in a standalone film.
I bet that was the Nomad project rumored to be in development for years, with Steve acting as a hero in the alternate timeline with Peggy at his side. I bet they scrapped that project and folded it into Doomsday.
@GarrettPlayzRBLX It’s revealed that every universe has a Molecule Man, and each one was created by the Beyonders as a bomb to destroy that universe. The Beyonders wanted to blow up every Molecule Man at once to end the entire multiverse.
Doctor Doom and Molecule Man from Earth-616 joined forces to kill the alternate Molecule Men to stop the death of the multiverse, but they later decided to confront the Beyonders directly. Molecule Man absorbs the power of the Beyonders and gives it to Doom to create Battleworld. At the climax of the event, he gives the Beyonders’ powers to Mister Fantastic to recreate the multiverse.
And yes, he resurrects Rio Morales and Aaron Davis out of gratitude to Miles.
RE: original question. It’s likely, but the Fantastic Four have so many fun villains to use that it’s hard to know which ones will be chosen. It would be funny to use Molecule Man after Secret Wars, since his most notable roles in the comics were in the 1984 and 2015 Secret Wars events.
It’s a shame the Doctor Doom of Secret Wars won’t be the Doom of Earth-199999. Creating and ruling Battleworld is the single most significant thing Doctor Doom has ever done, but it seems that achievement in the MCU will belong to a variant from another universe.
Even if the post-Secret Wars MCU introduces a main-universe version of Doom, that character will probably exist in the shadow of RDJ’s iteration, and his schemes will look petty in comparison.
@IronWidowMaikuB You didn't understand my comment. I didn't say Marvel should only do what the general audiences want; I said Marvel needs to figure out how to get them onboard. And that will be more difficult than it was for GotG because there is already negative feedback surrounding the young characters. It was a blank slate for GotG.
I trust what Marvel is doing, but we can't act like everyone is excited for the Young Avengers. Some people are, but some people are not. And that's the reality we have to address.
@LIGHTBRINGER10 And I agree with you there. But we do have to reckon with the fact that there is a substantial part of the audience that has little interest. Marvel is going to have to figure out how to get them excited for a project like this, not outright ignore them.
I’d prefer a series. I think Marvel’s film schedule is getting too crowded to add another big film, unless they push back Doomsday+Secret Wars. Plus I think a D+ series would give room to explore more interesting character interactions.
To OP, I think there is some truth to the claim that “no one asked.” That’s true for general audiences. For comic readers or very invested fans, it was clear from the beginning (i.e. 2021 with WandaVision) that a young team was part of Marvel’s plan, but general audiences aren’t thinking like that. They just want to see a primary iconic Avengers lineup again.
Daredevil: Born Again, easily.
I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since Daredevil Season 3 — and thus since the Netflix shows were all cancelled. I’m very happy to see so much of the original team/cast/crew returning. And I’m thrilled that it seems they will be honoring the continuity of the original series.
Feels like Marvel's White House Down. Looks very promising -- I'm optimistic.
Appreciate the brief nod to the recast and to the late William Hurt's time as Ross.
There's a good number of Gus Frin-sorry, Giancarlo Esposito shots in this trailer, especially for someone who joined so late. Wonder if it's a marketing ploy to make use of his name, if his role really is large, or if it's like how Crossbones was prominently featured in CA:CW trailers despite his brief role.
The shot with the cherry blossom trees is spectacular. As is Sam taking down a fighter jet.
@Greater good was that Tim Blake Nelson's voice saying "Global power is shifting. You're just a pawn." at around the 1:04 mark?
@MarvelSharky congratulations on your new role! It's well-deserved!
Ultron has Chitauri technology in his upgraded bodies because Ultron built his bodies in the Sokovian facility where HYDRA had been studying and experimenting upon Chitauri technology.
After the Battle of New York, the government (S.H.I.E.L.D. and DODC) confiscated Chitauri tech, such as the Scepter and armors. They likely did not allow private companies like Stark Industries to study it.
@RudeKaizerPrime there's a difference between being hired for a job and selling it to a buyer. Crossbones wasn't hired; the heist's real objective was to lure out the Avengers for a fight. If the Avengers didn't show up, then he would have gone through the trouble of finding someone to sell to -- but that was Plan B.
If this is legit, I don't even care who he's playing. I just can't wait for the Gus Fring meme edits to come in.
The timeline first branched when the 2023 Avengers arrived, and it branched again when Loki escaped with the Tesseract. The 2023 Avengers experienced both branches before returning home, so the film just follows that specific branch of the timeline.
The "Sacred Timeline" is apparently just the set of timelines which allow for He Who Remains to exist. That allows for the possibility of people like Gamora traveling into it; it is meant to happen so that HWR exists in the future.
And as far as we know, the timeline Endgame Thanos came from was not erased; there is now just an alternate timeline where Thanos and his armies vanished.
I was initially disappointed (since it seemed Marvel TV was really taking off at the time), but I've long made peace with it.
Although I really want to know who Oded Fehr's antagonistic character was meant to be.
I know people have been apprehensive about introducing him so quickly, so I want to mention: Galactus is not a saga-level big bad like Thanos or Kang. He's a constant force of nature, not a complex villain. His most well-known comics storyline, the Galactus Trilogy, was simple: he showed up, tried to eat Earth, and left after the F4 convinced him.
I think introducing him as a villain early is good because it allows the MCU to quickly give Galactus more complex, morally grey roles down the road. Perhaps Secret Wars (Galactus played a significant role in the 2015 Secret Wars).
I know this post was meant for fun, so I don't mean this as a jab against OP in any way, But it feels like this very topic is brought up every few months and it's unfortunately getting old.
