Milana Vayntrub would've been perfect for the role.
Personally I think she'd be a fantastic Squirrel Girl
For those of you who have read the Squirrel Girl comics, who do you think would play her if she were added to the MCU?
(I mean, they added Ms. Marvel, and they're, like, best friends in the comics...)
I know that the X-Men were teased in She-Hulk but will the X-Men be in a tv series or movie, the Young Avengers will they appear together on screen in the MCU one day, what about characters like White Tiger, or even Squirrel Girl can she appear in other media like a movie since her show was canceled?
Because the New Warriors Series was cancelled, but she is awesome in the Comics.
So I was having a "Marvel Television is gone" existential crisis the other day, and I remembered that the New Warriors show was cancelled before it even aired, because they couldn't find a place for it to air. Do you guys think that we'll ever see those characters in the MCU or is it pretty much impossible?
For me it would probably be Squirrel Girl (Doreen Green) for humour and her being surprisingly overpowered (she was actually supposed to be introduced in a cancelled Secret Warriors series) or Hellcat (Patsy Walker), who would fit quite well with the introduction of She-Hulk and re-introduction of Netflix series characters (e.g Jessica Jones), who she's both commonly associated with.
What do you guys think?
The characters in the MCU are very diverse, with many different origins and powers. Blade, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and the Helstroms are examples of more abstract origins opposed to experiment/super suit/alien/inhuman/mutant origins. As the MCU expands, there are many ways Marvel can incorporate superheroes with more strange and quirky origins, like Mister Immortal and Squirrel Girl, both who were slated to appear in Freeform's cancelled New warriors show. Bringing in characters with weirder powers and origins can help deepen the MCU's lore, as well as lead to more storylines.
Which characters with stranger powers/origins do you think would fit well in the MCU?
All the way back in 2017, along with the announcement of a New Warriors series on Freeform was the casting of Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl. For many people this was great news, even if they weren't familiar with the New Warriors, because this particular fan favourite character was going to be introduced in the MCU. And Vayntrub was viewed as a perfect pick for the role by most fans.
However, later on, and ultimately finalised in 2019, New Warriors was cancelled and the chance to see those character brought into the MCU was destroyed. Fortunately, Vayntrub has been given the chance to still portray Squirrel Girl, albeit only the voice and in non-MCU products.
The likelihood of New Warriors being picked up is incredibly slim, which is a shame, but that doesn't mean it could be the end of Vayntrub's Squirrel Girl. The situation with bringing TV characters into the movies has always been a complex one, but considering how this character never actually made her debut, that leaves wide possibilities for ways to introduce her that other TV characters don't have.
If Kevin Feige ever decided to incorporate Squirrel Girl into the MCU, whether it be appearing in someone's movie or series, or possibly even having her own solo project, would that be something you are interested in? How would you want to see it happen? What could be don't with the character being in the MCU? What are your thoughts on Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl?
