If so, when?
If so, when?
Oh boy… Where do I even begin with this? I know S.H.I.E.L.D. might no longer be working on Earth and with Nick Fury being off planet but there was no need for a replacement. And don’t get me wrong, I did like Damage Control in Homecoming and with Anne Marie Hoag having a live action appearance.
But later on in Phase 4, Their portrayal in No Way Home (in my personal opinion) was absolutely horrible. And don’t even get me started on that clever but gaslighting manchild that is Agent Cleary (even if he does have some redeeming qualities and Arian Moayed being the guy) or the xenophobic former agent Sadie Deever. And the way how this organization now works as is just insulting as how they act like a carbon S.H.I.E.L.D. replacement and try to hunt down enhanced individuals that they claim to be “dangerous” unlike the aforementioned organization. It probably seems to me that Damage Control in the MCU is a great idea on paper but the execution of the organization later on in Phase 4 is horrendous just to make them be a threat to some heroes (Peter Parker and Kamala Khan, respectively.) We later see them in Secret Invasion but I don’t know how they will be portrayed (either redeemed or just atrocious like they were in NWH and Ms. Marvel).
Anyways, what do you think of their portrayal in the MCU? Let me know in the comments below.
Agent Cleary stole the show for me in Spiderman: No Way Home. I blame it on Arian Moyead, who is just a brilliant actor. Something about the way he plays this character is so smooth and perfect. I am almost as excited to see more of him in the future, as I am to see Matt Murdock. He has so much potential. And it definitely helps that his comic counterpart, Albert Cleary, is freaking awesome.👌🏻
There are so many high-powered super heroes now, and their powers keep getting more and more cosmic. And I love that, but sometimes I enjoy taking it down a notch, going more old school. Cleary has no powers, but you can tell, even with his very small amount of screen time, that he's whip-smart. He is an expert at manipulation. He uses his resources and he knows exactly what he's doing. I get the feeling he could talk his way out of (or into) a lot of things. He may not be super-powered, he's only human (well, I think— this is pre-Secret Invasion, haha!), but I can't help respecting him all the more.
However, I really don't think I would care about this random character so much if he wasn't brilliantly portrayed by Arian Moyead. What an actor! I can just tell there's much depth there. I hope, so much, that he gets more screen time in the future. Agent Cleary has so much potential in my opinion.
If there's a chance to update on the logo, I have stretched out the words to make it more stand out.
I still have a question about Spider-Man: No Way Home:
How did Agent Albert Cleary of Damage Control know that Nick Fury was alive? Since Nick Fury is supposed to have "died" during the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and few know that Hydra didn't actually kill him.
