Not only when the team had their new recruit such as Cosmo the space dog, but when the Collector sold Knowhere to them as their new headquarters as well as a new but bigger ship called the Bowie. So both the aether and orb were on knowhere in 2014, so why didnt the avengers go later than when quill went to the planet the orb was on and skip the asgard trip altogether?

I just watched a video of "All the Facts" of Guardians of the Galaxy uploaded by Disney Plus on the YouTube channel where they say that in a part of the Collector's museum is the Reality Stone (last seen in Thor: The Dark World), and I think no one had noticed it before, here is the exact moment in which they say it (4:53):
