!!!SPOILERS TO AGENTS OF SHIELD SEASONS 5-7!!!
I have a question about Agents of SHIELD timeline after their travel to the future and back. As we can see in seasons 5-7, the timeline of the show no longer coincides with the main timeline of the MCU, which is pointed at by some evidences:
In 2018 there is Thanos, but there is no snap. Not one member of the team or other people gets dusted, and there are no mentions of such a thing happening
In 2020 SHIELD continues to function under control of Mac, there are even the Academy and the Triskelion reopened. However, in the original timeline SHIELD no longer exists and its functions are now performed by SWORD and DODC
Let’s call the original “616” timeline “Timeline A”. As I see it, in some point of time there was a Nexus event, that created a new branch. Maybe even two Nexus events and two branches. Such as:
Timeline A. No time travels and thus no Nexus events. The team gets arrested in the diner in May 2017. Further fate of the team in this timeline is unknown. Earth is not destroyed because the team’s actions didn’t lead to that destruction. Thanos snaps (presumably)
Timeline B. The branch created by the team’s disappearance in May 2017. Fitz gets frozen in the pod. Further fate unknown. Earth is not destroyed. Thanos snaps (presumably)
Timeline C. The branch to which the team traveled in December 2017 using the monolith. Their actions caused by their knowledge of the alternative future and attempts to prevent it could actually lead to Earth’s destruction. However, they managed to prevent it after all. Thanos doesn’t snap (for some reason). Further fate shown in seasons 6-7
Bonus: Timeline D. The alternative branch where Earth actually gets destroyed. Visions of this timeline were seen by Robin Hinton
As I see it, the original MCU timeline matches with Timeline A (and maybe with Timeline B too), but the events of the show starting from season 5 episode 11 (if not earlier, if you take the moment of their travel to the future as the point of no return) definitely happen in another timeline.
What my question is: is this theory correct? If so, why the events of the latest seasons are still included in the main Timeline on this Wiki? If not, please explain to me my mistake. Thank you in advance
I've been putting together a complete MCU timeline for my own personal use, on an Excel spreadsheet. This timeline is based almost entirely on the Wiki's timeline pages, differing only at three points:
- 2016, April 27th: Talbot's raid of the Hydra Preparatory Academy happens on the same day as Talbot's global takedown of Hydra.
- 2016, between June 25th and June 29th: Civil War's post-credits with Steve and Bucky in Wakanda, and Bucky going into Cryo, happens before, not after, the main body of Black Panther.
- 2018, June 1st: The attack on Fitz and Enoch's ship happens after, not before, the timeline divergence.
In all three cases, I assume that details we are given in-universe (even when spoken by a being as "perfect" as a Chronicom) must be in error if they contradict the apparent intention of the writers, and that such errors in writing are superceded by that apparent intention and can therefore be disregarded.
I've reached this point in the timeline, and I am a bit baffled, and the accompanying note hurts my brain.
The math based on the information available points to the attack on Fitz and Enoch's ship happening weeks before the timeline split at the end of Agents season 5. This raises a bunch of problems that require a bunch of assumptions not otherwise hinted at by the show.
Isn't it much simpler to simply assume that the numbers we were given pointing to the date of the attack are wrong? That sometimes happens, after all (such as Homecoming's "8 years" and Runaways' reference to 2019).
Either way, that's the assumption I'm making in my own version of the timeline, where I'm placing the attack very shortly after the timeline split (my *only* deviation from the Wiki's timeline).
I have an idea we should try to play.
.
By the end of LCs2, Luke becames the head of the crime in Harlem, takes the Harlem's Paradise. Misty is worried, and telling Colleen (who is the only Iron Fist in town now) that maybe she will ask her to help against Luke Cage. Some time later Luke shows up at Jessica Jones' office, and telling her that sometimes you can choose only the less worse. he also tells Jess that he hopes if he cross that specific line, Jess will be there to take the necessary actions.
.
Then the Snap happens!
.
Here is the question: what happened since then to Luke Cage? Did he snapped away (too simple), or there is a story can be told?
Let's try to create that story.
.
I have some ideas that could've, or could've not happened with LC:
Harlem's Paradise broke because both the legal and illegal incomes decreased drastically cause by half the clients snapped.
Some heroes and side-characters also snapped. Daredevil maybe? or Colleen, the strongest of the ladies? Or none of them, so a new Defenders-lineup could've happened?
I read once that maybe a "Shadowland"-based thing was planned with Luke Cage (instead of Matt). If so, this could connect the gang with anyone who is in the NW Sanctum?
Luke's skin is unbreakable, but maybe Colleen's chi-powered katana can harm him, and that's could lead to his bracelets (made by vibranium or even adamantium)?
A story about Luke Cage lured into the dark side could lead not only to Heroes for Hire but into Daughters of Dragon as well, having Misty, Colleen and Jessica teaming up.
What are your ideas? Did LC turned to the dark side, or did he managed to use Harlem's underground to do good?
Of course it can't be taken as a fact. We could never say these factually happened in the MCU.
It's only for fun.
So let's play that what could've happened?
.
(And if it works and you like it, we could do that about other characters)
According to this wiki's timeline, the Snap seems to have happened in May 31, 2018. That makes it just two days after Tony Stark's birthday in May 29. This would mean that when the Black Order invaded New York (which is a day before), was in May 30, just a day after he had a happy birthday. Also... it seems the dream Tony had about a son named Morgan, seems to have happened in the night of his birthday. It seems like fate, that all of these things happen so close to an important date of the year for him.
So the Season 3 of the Runaways has been aired yesterday. Don't know how soon it is to start thinking on it, but are there any guesses. I haven't seen the series so I don't know. Is it set just after Season 2, or months after it. Given that Season 1 and Season 2 happen between December 2017 and February 2018, we only have just an interval of little over than three months before the snap from Avengers: Infinity War (May 2018), so it shouldn't be set too far in the timeline, right? Wanna know what you think.
