I agree, she's probably not playing Mary Jane. Yes, she could be playing Mayday, and there are also rumors that she's playing Jean Grey (Famke Janssen has not been confirmed to star in Avengers: Doomsday).

^ It makes sense for her to return since most of the OG X-Men cast has been confirmed for Doomsday. The only characters that aren't confirmed yet are Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Iceman, X-23, and Deadpool.

The Issue with Famke's Jean is that for whatever reason she can't come back alive unlike most versions of Jean Grey (The Fox X-braintrust for whatever reason decide in their infinite wisdom to remove Jean Grey Phoenix reviving abilities from her)

Now Granted Marvel could just said "Screw it, that rule is the dumbest thing ever created and we're not following it," and bring her back anyways.

That not's the same Jean from the original timeline. Again, the Fox Timeline is a straight up messed of a thing. When Logan went back in time in Days of Future Past, Last Stand didn't happen.
