The Defenders are much more then just simply vigilantes of NYC, this is like saying that Steve Rogers or Natasha Romanoff are "vigilantes of NYC" because they lived there and Should be on this team as well. Plus let's be honest if there was any team that Kate and Spidey are joining it won't be a Defenders, It would be the Avengers lol.
