I see this talked about a lot as either a criticism of the films or an example of Tony being a flawed hero, specifically with the beginning of their relationship in Civil War. It's no secret that Tony is no moral paradigm in that movie, but a few things are overlooked in first viewings with the excitement of Spider-Man's introduction to the franchise. Basically, the argument is that:
A: Peter, as a kid, is unfit to decide if he's ok with leaving the country to fight a bunch of fellow super-people
B: His guardian, Aunt May, the person who OKs it for him, only does so the under the false pretense of it being for a Stark Scholarship
C: Even if Peter is mature enough to join, he's reluctant at best to do so, and it could be argued that he only agrees after Tony blackmails him with the threat of revealing his secret to May
This would all contrast to Tony being the one on the side of the law in that movie. What do you all think?
