Well I understand what you are getting at and agree that there will be some differences, like this Thunderbolts team is very human and they don’t appear to be convicts. The general audience tries to simplify things. Marvel and DC have this long history in the comics of having characters that are very similar to each other. Now that these teams and characters are both coming to the movies, those characters are becoming more well known to the general audience. So you are going to hear people call this “Marvel’s Suicide Squad”, even though they aren’t exactly the same. It is how people like to simplify things.

I don’t think many mean it as an insult cause again this film feels like a relief due to the lack of bombastic computer effects

It’s not an exact copy since both Suicide Squad movies are rather funny, while the Thunderbolts* is more serious

However I will say the idea of Thunderbolts and Suicide Squad are rather similar in terms of being a team formed by the government

And so far the members of Thunderbolts don’t have an explosive device in their heads

If anything it’s Suicide Squad done right
