Yeah it would matter if Peter's was still in High School but he's not anymore, Again there are both adults now, it's no different then Natasha/Bruce is.

Kate and Peter could work but I don’t think he would want a love interest so soon. They seem like they would have chemistry but I doubt that they would actually work as a couple

He finally got a chance to start over with a clean slate. I guess it'll be fine if he focuses more on Spidey stuff than Peter stuff in the next movie.
