One of the biggest plot holes in No Way Home is Pepper's glaring absence. She knows how important Peter was to Tony - she watched him grieve Peter for 5 years and keep his picture framed in their kitchen, and most likely knows Tony left EDITH to Peter. So naturally she knows that if Tony were around, he would do everything he could to help Peter if disaster were to strike, like he always did.
So then after Tony's gone, Peter's life is quite literally blown up ... his reputation damaged, privacy gone, friends and family in peril thanks to the actions of a former employee of Pepper's ... and Pepper ... does nothing???
There was so much she could've done. As head of Stark Industries, she had to have files of Quentin Beck's history as an employee that she could've shown as proof that he was mentally unstable (which was the reason he was fired), and thus exposed Mysterio as a fraud who was not from another universe. She most likely had access to EDITH's database and could've published proof within EDITH's memories that Peter turned over control of EDITH to Beck, and that Beck was the one who ordered the drone attack on London. Both of these would've immediately exonerated Peter and eradicated most, if not all, existing public support for Mysterio. Also, with her endless resources, she could've offered Peter and May a safe, private place to live; considering Peter's closeness to Tony, it wouldn't be out of character for her to offer them to live with her and Morgan. As a single mom and businesswoman, she could've used May's help in looking after Morgan, anyway, and again considering her wealth and power, she likely has major security around her and Morgan's home that would've blocked the press from knowing the Parkers were there.
I just feel like some of the trouble Peter was in - not all of it, obviously, but some - wouldn't have existed if Pepper had done something, and it doesn't make any sense that she didn't lift a finger to help. Even if Gwyneth Paltrow was unavailable to appear onscreen, there could've been some lines like "Pepper's testifying in your favor" or "Pepper just made an announcement exposing Mysterio's true identity" or SOMETHING.
Does anybody else find this bizarre??
