I mean not really. They had training as professional firefighters as well in terms of at least one of them. Somewhat this is true in terms of the general public coming around there to them assisting, but that wasn't the main factor.

If threats became more extreme and supernatural in nature any society would begin to care a lot less about everyday men and women in emergency roles. When costumed vigilantes seem to be far more equipped at handling danger that's where people lie their faith.
