There is no way in real world we killed off a character out of respect while in fiction people singing and dancing to honor someone's death so joyfully. It made me wonder if they are really Wakanda people for Bast's sake.
Well at least the queen and the princess are in the right mood. But how could their people act so differently regardless their feelings. It looks more like the royal family is getting banished here. Besides, there's a short moment of T'Challa's funeral in What If episode. Briefly but no one was dancing in that scene.
So I theorized maybe it's not a funeral at all, but a wedding ceremony.
Theory 1
It's Shuri's wedding. After Wakanda lost their king, a political marriage is brought up to ensure diplomatic security. The groom may be Namor, or a neighbor country/tribe leader (of those happy people). However it goes south hence the conflict between Wakanda and Namor.
Theory 2
It was supposed to be Nakia's wedding. Based on Theory 1, we may guess what BP 2 would be originally. Assuming Namor and most of the plot are the same and it's determined before Boseman's departure. The only major change is replacing Shuri in T'Challa's role. Then the wedding could be planned for Nakia. She's the one doing the political marriage. But T'Challa would heroically interrupt it out of love and trigger the conflict. She's of River Tribe which could function as aquatic border relates to Namor/ocean. The river is likely the only way to flood an inland country.
Theory 3
Given that it's a Disney production, there could be an alternative of Theory 2. Namora saved T'Challa during the Killmonger takeover and fell into love with him. But T'Challa was completely out of consciousness and had no idea. The wedding is meant for T'Challa and Nakia. It would break Namora's heart and enrage Namor, hence the conflict.
No matter which theory would work, it won't matter after next month. So have fun!
