Good episode, loved the direct reference to the Daredevil finale. Canon debate should be over now
The Sokovia Accords have been repealed. The UN must have done that to prevent another Thanos-level threat from happening.
Loved the bit of the Netflix theme
Wow, we have seen Charlie Cox star in Daredevil since 2015 and it takes the show's cancellation for him to start playing Daredevil. I know I just triggered a lot of people by saying that but Daredevil is not like Hollywood Batman where he is miserable 24/7. He has a lot more charm and cares much more about his civilian life which includes being much more openly passionate with his relationships. Netflix Matt refused to get close to anyone for the sake of keeping them safe. Comic Book Matt would have slept with Karen and Claire, probably at the same time
The thing with characters being written by dozens of authors for like 60 years is that every portrayal can be "comic accurate", it just depends on which comics you're referring to.
See, one thing I really like about Netflix characters' re-introduction in the MCU is that they feel more humane, I'd say. Yes, Matt Murdock is a broken man with a heavy burden of protecting the peace on the streets, while maintaining his life as a lawyer. But that doesn't mean that he can't crack a joke, being flirty and even hooking up with a woman he knew for one day but definitely had some chemistry with.
Same for Kingpin in Hawkeye. Yes, he's a ruthless and brutal crime lord but that doesn't mean he doesn't celebrate Christmas or can't dress up in a goofy Hawaiian shirt for a bit (which is both canon and was pitched by D'Onofrio himself).
Yeah, all in all even apart from the whole Daredevil thing, that was a decent episode.
Am I the only one who saw a different Netflix Daredevil show? Matt slept with women (he did that so many times that it didn't sound suspicious at all when he used it as a side-story after a night of Daredevil-ing), was funny, witty, and charming in his own show. He just didn't crack jokes when things got real serious, which is just the perfect kind of transition that really made that show good.
He was basically the same in She-Hulk. Taken straight from that show and put here. This episode had him fighting untrained nobodies, and he had a literal Hulk alongside, so obviously he was a little more relaxed than usual.
It's just as the writer explained. Every character comes from their movies or shows and gets to take a break here. But they still remain themselves. Hulk, Wong, and Daredevil are all just the same in this show as they were in their previous appearances, simply more relaxed and dealing with the little things. Only Blonsky was radically different, which makes sense since it's been nearly 20 years in universe for him to go from an insane and murdering Abomination to a pretty cool dude.
I like how Matt's attacks felt really solid and powerful. Every hit gave that feeling of really being punched and kicked and smacked. The sound effects were on point in this episode, especially during the end when Jennifer hulked out and destroyed everything.
I’m still lol’ing at Dardevil’s walk of shame.
Leap frog is the lamest costumed person ever.
“Perfect, down to the last minute detail”
I’ve been the fence about this series and while this episode isn’t absolutely perfect, it was still very enjoyable. The ending was quite brutal for Jen. Tatiana has done a great job as per usual and I’m interested in what other projects she’ll be attached to in the future.
The wait for Daredevil is finally over and I’m satisfied with what we got. The character generally works better in grim environments, but shouldn’t be restricted to one particular area. His chemistry with Jen was pretty fun. I’m growing on the classic ketchup and mustard suit, but still prefer the all red.
What do you think?
