MCU Fans, Maybe I Missing Something, can y’all help me with this?

Okay so in the comics, Jessica Jones & Luke Cage 1 of the strongest married power couples & it is healthy along with being an interracial couple (which in the comics I can’t think of any straight interracial couple that is still together, so this is big). As a matter of fact, Luke after hearing he got Jessica pregnant wanted to become a family & she eventually said yes……….so why did they turn into some fling in the MCU? Be raised basically by a Black Panther (the irl group) I assume the worst but I really hope I’m missing something.

Was there like something behind the scenes that had this change happen?

I mean it could have eventually, but as previously mentioned the shows were cancelled. Not to mention while Netflix had housed the episodes and allowed them their far more mature content, these were ABC productions where a biracial relationship like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were typically frowned upon on the network.

Though them being on two separate shows and their complicated past certainly made things hard.

Yeah, you are correct that it is partly due to racism, but it's also not the only reason. Both BTS and in-universe.

This is my idea for how they could bring both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage back by announcing a new Disney+ show. After the end of Luke Cage season 2 Luke's arch-nemesis Black Mariah is dead and he is now the head of organised crime in Harlem showing him at his lowest point. On the other hand at the end of Jessica Jones season 3 we see Jess finally conquer the memory of her arch-nemesis Kilgrave showing her at her highest point. This show would focus on a war between Harlem and Hell's Kitchen as the Kingpin tries to take Luke's territory by force and Jess is trying to pull Luke away from this life.

Yup, after all they hav casted Mahershala Ali as 2 different people in the same universe (Cotton Mouth & Blade) so honestly there's no reason as to why they couldn't do it.

Luke was in love with Claire Temple

Jessica didn't seem she wanted a love interest. I don't believe her and Erik would have ended up together.

But if both shows continued it could have happened
