I think it is going to be left a bit open ended, my prediction is that by the end of Love and Thunder Thor won't die but officially retire from active duty in order for Jane Foster to be the main Thor throughout this saga similar to how Clint Barton retired so that Kate Bishop could take on the mantle of Hawkeye
