Saw the movie yesterday. Honestly it was great. Not bad but still a great movie regardless.
The parts I enjoyed were Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and Xochitl Gomez. They were all brilliant in the movie and they made the theater experience quite enjoyable and quick. The movie is definitely the darkest MCU Movie yet. I also enjoyed Sinister Strange, even though his role was small, he still felt like a great character and not just some role-filler. I like Strange and Chavez's dynamic and also Strange and Christine were brilliant together. Strange and Maximoff both had interesting arcs and I would love it very much if they continued what they were doing with Strange. Chavez is one of the most well-written characters and I enjoy her.
Additionally I enjoyed the cameos. Surprisingly my theater was quiet but seeing the Inhumans series' Black Bolt, Captain Carter, Maria as Captain Marvel and John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic. That was a sight. So was seeing Charles Xavier again, played by Sir Patrick Stewart. This just made the experience more fun. I know a lot of people wanted EVERY. SINGLE. MARVEL. CHARACTER to show up but it's a Doctor Strange movie at the end of the day not a secret wars movie.
My complaints were at some points the runtime was alright but it felt rushed at certain parts. The final battle was not too great. It felt focused on America Chavez and Wanda Maximoff. Don't get me wrong, they were my most favourite characters in the movie alongside Strange, but they should have had Strange there. Not because it would make it more exciting, but it felt less like a Doctor Strange movie. Michael Waldron did something similar in Loki so I'm not sure if it is him or not. I'm also a bit confused on how 1 second Strange suffered while walking and then continued walking like normal when Clea approached him.
Arguably my favourite part of the movie is Bruce Campbell free of Strange's spell and saying it's over.
For me it was good but could have been better. By the way it is just my opinion. It gets an 8/10, definitely underrated.
