I went to see the movie last night and it was awesome. Except going in I thought the Illuminati was going to be more prominent.

The illuminati didn’t need to be there. It just made for soulless cameos. If you take out the Illuminati only one thing changes, they don't find the book of vishanti. And when they found it, it got destroyed immediately. So that whole plot point of the book didn’t need to happen and the whole sequence with the Illuminati didn’t need to happen

Only one question: does the Black Bolt cameo does anything with Anson Mount as Black Bolt of the tv show as being in the main MCU? (I suppose it's not the same but a variant played by the same actor)

The tv Black Bolt is in the main mcu. This one is a variant of that black bolt

@LR2159 I agree, they turned some of the most badass characters in the comics, such as Professor X, Black Bolt, and Mister Fantastic into weak irrelevant characters, in favor of the Scarlet Witch, and I believe that Professor X could've literally killed Wanda's real body, as shown in the comics, but since Feige wanted to make Wanda the badass of the story, they weakened Professor X, and Mister Fantastic is plain stupid in this movie, how smart is it to tell your opponent your teammates attack.

The point was to show that her chaos magic + the Darkhold's influence = too powerful even for some of the greatest heroes ever. The fact that they were variants made total sense given that the mainline heroes still need to... you know.. continue existing.

I really liked the movie. While the amount of cameos was slightly disappointing, I understand that its supposed to be a Doctor Strange film, not a big crossover event. I was relaly excited to see Mister Fantastic and Professor X, especially that he was played by John.

They absolutely, in no way, made Mister Fantastic a "wuss" 🤣

The Illuminati are arrogant and arguably a little ignorant, but they aren't afraid. They face Wanda down after she destroys a legion of Ultron bots. They know she's incredibly dangerous, but they believe they can reason with her, and if not that they can stop her. It doesn't occur to them that she can take them, because they always win.

Even when she takes out Blackbolt, Mister Fantastic attempts to attack her, but a rubber band versus corrupted chaos magic? That's an obvious OBVIOUS outcome to anyone who isn't the Illuminati.

You can call them wasted, or hollow cameos, of whatever you like, but the Illuminati were brave as hell to continue fighting as she tore their teammates to shreds.

@TheD00dlebug Maybe wuss isn't the right word, but they made Mister Fantastic an idiot. He literally gave away Black Bolts' attack, if Mister Fantastic didn't have -1 IQ, Black Bolt would've decimated Wanda.
