Not really. They literally threw together the same rules from Back to the Future, and haven’t stuck to any of them. It’s the first and only installment with time travel, and it’s wonky as heck.

^What? The rules are the exact opposite of the ones in Back to the Future. They even mention it in the movie.

And, again, what are the inconsistencies?

It's mostly true that Endgame in fact doesn't have as many time travel plot holes as people think.

It's also mostly true that a lot of perceived plot holes are people misunderstanding the time travel.

But it's not true that the time travel is consistent or clear, nor definitively as presented here, nor that anyone who raises questions just doesn't understand.

As someone who has written endlessly dissecting everything imaginable a million times over about the time travel rules, I can tell you with confidence:

• There is more than enough evidence to make a strong argument that Steve's time travel at the Endgame did not create a branch and that this is not only consistent with, but in fact part of, Endgame's rules.

• There are many contradictions and sloppy pieces of writing causing an absolute disastrous mess.

• The mere thought of discussing this any further after the last 3 years is making my brain want to explode from utter exhaustion and abject misery, so I'm not going to argue or get into it any further.

^It's okay, man, I get it. The only thing I'm curious about is what are reasons to believe that Cap didn't create a new timeline? It always made sense to me that he did.

He could but he didn't have to. In Agents of Shield FitzSimmons went back in time and didn't create a new timeline. As long as a time traveller doesn't do something, we know that didn't happen, no new timeline has to be created. But to not create a new timeline he would have to tell Peggy to not tell anyone about him and basically live life in incognito mode, so my headcanon is that he created a new timeline.

I think Steve did create a new timeline, and the TVA let him live it out since he would reset it and head back to his own time

Ok but then my theory would still be plausible to a degree? Since it wasn’t a branched timeline and it wasn’t erased, the other Steve would still be there.
