I liked how he wasn't just the funny, comic-relief kind of friend of the hero, but he always did his own work, took his part of the events. I mean, remember when he went to talk to the motorgang Dogs of Hell (or whatever their name is) after one of them died by Castle? A bunch of big, bald, scary-ass strong dudes, all of them would easily kill you in a moment, and Foggy still managed to have a relative straight talk to one of them.
Or when he managed to calm down two psycho-raging criminals in Metro General?
Elden have to come back as Foggy too.
