I don’t know the exact order, but the flashbacks to ancient times in Eternals are set before the rest of that film and all of the other projects so far.

@LadyBidule That 2018 wasn't official. It was a timeline in a licensed book, Marvel Studios have made clear that The Story of Marvel Studios is the first proper directly official Marvel Studios book.

I also have reason to believe that that book's timeline was based off an old version of the wiki timeline pre-Summer 2017 (and that they then took bad guesses at the timeline of the films released after Summer 2017).

Did you or anyone read that new Story of Marvel Studios book yet BTW? It's quite expensive and I'm always wary of such official books like that, because they will usually just tell the story the way they want it told, putting themselves in a good light and omitting any embarrassing detail. What I'd love is a similar book, but by an independent journalist/researcher. That said, if it's really informative, I may consider buying that one some day.

@LadyBidule I have the book. It's pretty informative. In terms of content, it is divided into individual years and presents new developments from Marvel Studios. (Marvel Studios only, no Marvel Television).

For example:

- It covers all films and one-shots (Also how the idea of the One-Shots came about)

- Agents of SHIELD exists because Bob Iger liked "Item 47" and said the concept could be turned into a series

- Marvel Studios has Agent Carter as a canonical story developed for ABC

- films and one-shots that were once planned. (E.g. Gunn originally wanted to make a Hit-Monkey film, for example.)

- Also shows that the first four Disney + series were already being planned long before Disney + was even planned.

And much, much more information.

May I ask what you mean by "Marvel Studios has Agent Carter as a canonical story developed for ABC"? As far as we know and regardless of the current ambiguous situation, Marvel Television shows were entirely considered canon by Marvel Studios back then, weren't they?

I also remember reading at the time that Item 47 somewhat inspired AoS, but do they explain why the show went in a completely different direction? It was a little odd to not ever see Bennie and Claire again after the short. God knows what became of them ever since Shield fell.

We have no way of knowing if nor when Loki will reappear in the timeline, we only know when it begins, and we have no way of knowing when the Watcher's final adventure takes place in What If...?, except it's after Endgame (since none of his stories go further than that).

Thus, and until more information is revealed, I'd say it seems reasonable to place both right after Endgame (first Loki, then WI...?) in a watching order timeline, because, well... where else?

If Loki reemerges in the main timeline at a later date, and since S02 is likely to pick-up exactly where S01 ended, then it'll be reasonable to move the whole show there.

Loki should be the first followed by What If
