Loki escaped the Avengers in the 2012 timeline. In the movie, we see him being in chains brought to Asgard. I'm sorry, TVA Loki is not the same Loki and the wiki recognises this.

2014 timeline Thanos literally dies before Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Endgame. Why don't you explain that, huh?

@ProBot1227 I’m not sure what that sentence means. “Sacred timeline” Thanos (the one who managed to snap) was killed by Thor. After they travelled back in time to 2014 and Thanos realised what was happening he travelled forward in time to 2023. 2014 Thanos is the version that they fought in Endgame so how can 2014 Thanos “be dead before Endgame”?

@ProBot1227 That’s because he’s a variant of our “main” Loki. Loki wasn’t supposed to escape in 2012, and him escaping was a Nexus event which is why the TVA went after him.

They created alternate timelines by travelling back in time. Those alternate timelines go in a different direction due to their presence in that reality. It "diverges" from the MCU timeline so the same events played out.

So, by going to 1970, they created an alternative MCU timeline.

So, by going to 2012, they created an alternative MCU timeline.

So, by going to 2013, they created an alternative MCU timeline.

So, by going to 2014, they created an alternative MCU timeline.

So, by going to 2018, they created an alternative MCU timeline.

And yes, by going to 1931, S.H.I.E.L.D. created an alternative MCU timeline. The TVA allows those timelines to exist for a period of time so as to allow the Sacred Timeline to play out as they are supposed to.

This is the official word and what the films and shows tell us.

Secondly, all the IS’s that the Avengers collect during Endgame are quite clearly from the same Universe, just at an earlier point otherwise the Infinity Gauntlet would not work at all. Therefore, they travelled to an earlier point in their Universe to collect the stones, not an alternate one.

An alternate timeline is a reality where things played out differently. The Endgame timelines played out the same as the MCU up until the time travel created a divergence.

After that divergence, they have different events play out. In the MCU history, Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all life. In the 2014 history, he couldn't do that because he died.

Hence, because different events played out, it's an alternate timeline.

In Marvel, alternate timelines and alternate universes are considered the same thing. Alternate timelines are given their own Earth numbers in the multiverse. All alternate timelines are alternate universes, but not all alternate universes are alternate timelines.

There are 2 alternate timelines now, one being Loki's and the other being 2014 Thanos's.

The MCU Infinity Stones are either fundamentally different, or alternate universes that are created through time travel happen to have different logic. Either way, Marvel considers those to be alternate timelines because otherwise events should have played out the exact same and those future Avengers should have always been there in those older films.

The TVA exists in the Null-Time Zone. Magic doesn't even work in the TVA apparently, so why would the Infinity Stones?

Additionally, the MCU is Earth-199999 and those alternate timelines are currently undesignated.

It's an earlier point in time, but those timelines played out completely differently than what happened in the MCU after the point of divergence.
