(If you need to take this down that’s fine idk how much you’d say it would relate to the MCU as a whole)
Scarlett Johansson (who if you forgot has been playing Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow for the past eleven years) sued Disney today over losing $50 million due to her film Black Widow losing tons of money due to a streaming debut on Disney+, citing this as a breach of her contract. Obviously, while Marvel seems to be done with her in their universe, that doesn’t mean Disney could have picked her up for other projects, but now that (and maybe any future cameo from her via multiverse or flashback) seems entirely off the table.
It is believed that the Black Widow film lost a lot of money from debuting on a streaming service; and Johansson alleges that on her contract that there was only to be an “exclusive theatrical release”; obviously ending up in a loss of money for her, Marvel, and Disney.
So what do you think? Was this the right move on her part? Should she win any sort of settlement, and will any of her fellow cast-mates follow suit? Personally I don’t think this is much of my place to say so I’ll be sticking out of the discussion section; but you can share any thoughts in the comments below!
