I dont know why she's doing it. But I 100% Agree with her taking action against Disney. They are the second Studio to try and get away with breaking contracts with their talent. Studios have to understand they cant just make up the rules as they go along and expect talent to accept it. What Disney should have done was renegotiate with Scarlett when they decided to send BW to premier access. But I guess the new Disney execs arent smart enough to realize that. Tbh Disney is starting to concerningly operate itself like WB, which is not a good thing

@1Marvel Fan The way I see it is like this: I don’t agree with what Disney did. But I don’t agree with what Scarlett is doing now.

She’s still young, pretty early in her career still, so to burn bridges with Disney (and so publicly too) will only be damaging going forward. I personally feel it is out of greed, and not just because “they breached contract”. I honestly feel she just wants more money. I just finished watching BeyondTheTrailers video on this (I saw the title of the video beforehand and wrote my original comments, but have been watching the video whilst switching between that and writing comments on here) and she made a point that I thought was brilliant and she basically said “outside of Marvel, Scarlett hasn’t had a huge hit” which is what Disney’s lawyers could argue in court, in fact the only movie of hers that done particularly good was Lucy and that had pretty much the same box office as Black Widow. I think it would’ve been far more valuable to keep Disney on my friendly side, since Disney is so powerful and far reaching. This could ultimately end her career, or at least slow it down enough that it is basically over. That’s my two cents.

I dont think this will burn any bridges. It'll most likely end in Disney settling and that being the end of it. The character of Natasha probably isnt going to be around for awhile anyway, so theres plenty of time to mend any problems between Scarlett and Disney if their were any.

It just doesn’t make sense, in the words of BeyondTheTrailer “what would be more valuable to you? This supposed Black Widow money she’s not getting? Or the money she could make with Disney down the line”.

She’s not reporting on a film or TV show or giving potential rumours/gossip. I know her record is spotty in that area. She’s literally just relaying the information about the situation and giving her thoughts and opinions. There’s nothing she said in the video that really requires you to “put much stock in what she says” because it isn’t that type of video.

I love the argument that she’s being greedy to sue for money she was contractually entitled to, on the basis that she’s already rich.

I’m sure the Disney executives are living hand to mouth.

It’s a rich person suing richer people who *drumroll* broke the terms of the contract between them.

Disney if anything are trying to set some precedent in their favour to cheat other actors out of money they had agreed to pay them.

Marvel still broke their contract with Scarlet anyways. She was supposed to make more money depending on how well it did at the theaters, not Disney Plus, so putting it on Disney Plus the same day as the theaters broke the contract and also stopped Scarlett from making the money she was supposed to. Them breaking their deal to Scarlett and depriving her of making more money does not in anyway make Scarlett “greedy”. Disney is the one being greedy, they broke their contract making it so that Scarlett made less money so that their streaming service could do better. Scarlett worked hard for the money that she wasn’t able to get because Disney was being greedy. I think Scarlett is right here and Disney is simply just being selfish and greedy

Because if she, with the money to back it up, doesn't sue, then how many other poorer actors can Disney use this as precedent to screw over in the future?

Sure, Johansson doesn't need this money, but the idea that a company can just go back on a written deal with their talent like this is dangerous for every person that works with the company in the future, especially during a time when technology and film releasing is changing so radically and rapidly from the currently established channels.

This is more than just "Disney cost me money" and more "Disney is potentially setting themselves up to screw over anyone they like going forwards" and I am totally behind Johansson here.

If Disney broke the contract, they broke the contract. If they owe Scarlett money, then they owe her money.

If you agree on something, then you need to follow through and not bend the rules depending on if they suit you better.

I think Natasha (played by Scarlett) is finished in the MCU. She might have a recap/ flashback scene in the Hawkeye stuff. Or maybe Yelena will get episodes? But I think that Natasha as a main/ side character is finished for now.

It’s perfectly reasonable to want money that has already been agreed you’re going to get.
