Oh boy, "That is an undeniable fact" I think is very strong considering the very thought-through and sound arguments from what the show presents that there is only one Destroyed Earth timeline.

Each of these characters has been seen on-screen: Undeniable fact.

Their biographies make impossible for any of them to be mistaken for another one: Undeniable fact.

Each of these characters hails from/was born in a different universe, as there was no universe presented with more than one native Leo Fitz: Undeniable fact.

The list goes on a little bit, but I think the point is represented enough.

You know that I strongly disagree with the last point and why, and I know that nothing's going to change so it's okay, I'm not trying to reopen this discussion.

I know they do, and I strongly consider that incorrect too. And it is what it is, I'm not going to argue.

@BEJT not meaning to get involved but I’m actually interested in your take. How do you explain the biography of extra Fitz if the timeline doesn’t exist. Also yo-yo in the future claims they have been in a loop which would suggest they had least been through one time through fully. If they just go to the future and then back then where does Deke’s grandfather come from. I’m not saying you are wrong but I’m just interested to hear your take. If the third timeline doesn’t exist

I am happy to explain, but if I do I want to be clear that I am not reopening the discussion personally about what's right and what's wrong. I will not be criticising Shabook's view, I hope Shabook will not criticise what I say as that conversation has had before - I will not be engaging in further discussion about it after. I would be merely presenting my view for your interest. If that's all okay, I will send it in an hour or so.

In terms of the timelines:

• May 2017 - The agents defeat Aida.

• May 2017 - The agents, minus 29-year-old Fitz, are sent to 2091-A (see 2091-A to follow their story).

• May-November 2017 - 29-to-30-year-old Fitz in prison.

• November 2017 - With Hunter's help, 30-year-old Fitz freezes himself with the plan to wake in 74 years.

• December 2017 - The agents return from 2091-A with 104-year-old Fitz-A (see 2091-A to see where their story has just come from). Meanwhile, out in space, 30-year-old Fitz is still frozen.

• May 2018 - Talbot goes crazy wanting to stop Thanos. Meanwhile, out in space, 30-year-old Fitz is still frozen.

• SPLIT POINT.

• May 2018-A - Earth is destroyed. From here we add an A to everyone's names to clarify we're talking about this version of the characters from timeline A. In terms of Fitz, 30-year-old Fitz out in space we now call 30-year-old Fitz-A. That Fitz will eventually go on to, when he's 104 years old, go back from 2091-A to 2017 and so 104-year-old Fitz-A is now passing through the split point for the second time, so we will call him 104-year-old Fitz-AA.

• 2018-2022-A - Past Life flashbacks with the survivors of the destruction of Earth: 104-to-108-year-old Fitz-AA, Simmons-A, May-A, and Yo-Yo-A. Meanwhile, out in space, 30-to-34-year-old Fitz-A is still frozen.

• 2091-A - Fitz-A, now 104 years old, wakes and prepares for the 2017 agents' arrival.

• 2091-A - The 2017 agents arrive (see May 2017 for where their story has just come from).

• 2091-A - The agents, now reunited with 104-year-old Fitz-A, go back in time to December 2017 (see December 2017 to follow their story).

• But, in May 2018-B - The agents save Earth. From here we add a B to everyone's names to clarify we're talking about this version of the characters from timeline B. In terms of Fitz, 30-year-old Fitz out in space we now call 30-year-old Fitz-B. 104-year-old Fitz-A is now 104-year-old Fitz-AB.

• May 2018-B - 104-year-old Fitz-AB dies.

• May 2018-B - The team realise that 30-year-old Fitz-B is out there in space with a free destiny, no longer destined to wake in 2091.

• 2019-B - Season 6.

Three Fitzes: Fitz-A = Fitz-AA who lives to the future, goes back, fails, and lives into the destroyed timeline again, stuck in the loop; Fitz-AB who lives to the future, goes back, succeeds and dies; Fitz-B who lives into the new timeline (out in space at the time of success) and is found in Season 6.

Or, imagine this:

Imagine a piece of string representing Fitz's life. It continuously passes through 2017 to 2091, then goes through a portal at 2091 back to 2017, before it continues. The string doubles up - Fitz is double-existing from late 2017, the younger version out of space and the older version who has been through that and gone back in time.

Now imagine taking scissors to 2018 and snipping (the timeline splitting). You've got two loose ends, the 30-year-old and the 104-year-old. The 104-year-old dies. The 30-year-old, with no destiny, is out in space and Simmons goes to find him.

Or, view it from the perspective of Fitz's biography. Every character's biography splits when the timeline splits, right? Same backstory up to a point, then a split. So, for example, Yo-Yo:

• May 2018 - Yo-Yo argues they have to let Coulson die.

• --SPLIT POINT

• --May 2018-A - Earth is destroyed and Yo-Yo goes to the Lighthouse.

• --But the other version after the split: May 2018-B - Earth is saved and Yo-Yo attends the drinks saying goodbye to Coulson.

So, in terms of Fitz (the formatting here isn't helpful but I hope you understand)

• November 2017 - Fitz is frozen.

• May 2018 - Fitz is still frozen out in space.

• --SPLIT POINT (1ST TIME)

• --May 2018-A - Fitz is still frozen.

• --2018-2091-A - Fitz is still frozen.

• --2019-A - Fitz wakes. He travels back to 2017.

• --December 2017 - Fitz arrives back from 2091-A. His younger self is out in space.

• --May 2018 - Fitz is with the team as they deliberate what to do with Coulson. His younger self is out in space.

• ----SPLIT POINT (2ND TIME)

• ----May 2018-A - Earth is destroyed. Fitz goes to the Lighthouse.

• ----2018-2022-A - Past Life flashbacks.

• ----After 2022-A - Fitz eventually dies.

• ----But the other version after the 2nd split: May 2018-B - Earth is saved. Fitz dies in the rubble.

• --But the other version after the 1st split: May-2018-B - Fitz is still frozen.

• --2019-B - Fitz reunites with Simmons.

I wish I could draw you a diagram, the formatting on wiki discussions is not easy to explain it. But to me, it's clear there's a simple split in the timeline which provides three versions of Fitz: lived through Destroyed Earth timeline twice Fitz, lived through Destroyed Earth timeline once then into Saved Earth and died there Fitz, and lived just straight into Saved Earth Fitz.

@BEJT let me see if I’m understanding this correctly. 

Fitz A - Sleeps until 2091, wakes up, returns to 2017, survives the battle of Chicago, Is the grandfather of Deke and then dies.

Fitz B - Wakes up in 2091 after Fitz A has died, returns to 2017, doesn’t survive the battle of Chicago.

Fitz C - Still asleep in the timeline, is woken up in timeline B after Fitz B dies in Chicago. This is the Fitz from season 6 and 7.

So here are the dilemmas I can’t figure out and I never have been able to. 

• The show seems to present it like the agents jump forward into the prime timeline where the earth is destroyed, making it that the earth is destroyed in the original timeline. In that case wouldn’t Infinity War no longer be happening in the prime timeline but rather a branch? 

• If the agents are rather jumping forward into a branch timeline then how does Fitz get into 2091 if at that point on the prime timeline he is woken up by Enoch. Enoch doesn’t seem to have the knowledge that the agents were successful and it doesn’t seem like they were going to be able to put him back to sleep. This would imply that in the timelines where Fitz wakes up in 2091, the prior attack never happened or Enoch managed to get Fitz back in stasis. The attackers are alien and it wouldn’t make sense for the fact that the earth was destroyed to stop them from attacking. 

• If Simmons had been the one to wake up Fitz this wouldn’t have been a problem for me but the fact that it is an alien attack bothers me. 

So is the way that the wiki is sticking to that each time the agents return to 2017 it is a new timeline? I see what you mean now. At first glance it seems that because there are three Fitz’ then there must be three timelines but in your interpretation they co-exist? It’s taken me a while to understand this but I don’t even know now if I still do. I think without Infinity War, season 5 of Shield would be much easier to understands 

Sorry, I forgot to reply. Yes, you are correct, that that is my understanding.

• Your first question depends on how you define it. You have understood correctly that they travelled to one future and branched off in another direction for the timeline where things were okay - as we see, from their perspective, they "changed" things. In my eyes, it's purely a branch of equal outcomes - two equally valid branch universes. One can be labelled "alternate" and one is labelled "prime", but to me those are just labels.

• Your other two questions, that's just the way they chose to tell it. Simmons believes the new timeline just means new things happen. One could argue that the butterfly effect of an entire planet being destroyed in the Destroyed Earth timeline had a knock-on effect that for whatever reason meant those aliens didn't find Fitz, or Fitz was able to get back to sleep, or something.

I wouldn't worry about Infinity War, it just slots in.
