Fury was wearing gloves to hold the stone. But as said it was a very brief physical contact. Red Skull was holding the Tesseract for many many seconds, and prolongued exposure activated the Tesseract and opened a portal. As for why Loki and Thanos aren't banished by the Tesseract is simply because they are powerful enough to control it and not be affected by it. A human just can't do that, and so basically it just opens a random portal without no control to where they are going... and also it burns their hand a lot,

@Miguel Evaristo Actually, the Tesseract was activated when Cap's shield hit the machine which held it, not when the Red Skull took it.

@Neutron Lightning Exactly, and it’s not like Tony’s suit was built from Uru (which is the Metal the Infinity Glove was made from) it was nano tech right? 

I just wiki’d the Nano-tech gauntlet and yes, the Nano-tech gauntlet allowed the user to wield all 6 Infinity Stones but didn’t offer the same (or any) protection from the power of the Infinity Stones; unlike Uru metal, which is why the Infinity Gauntlet is made from it.

So again (and this isn’t to you lightning) the point still stands that Tony, who was a regular Human should’ve been incinerated/destroyed/annihilated by the power of all 6 stones the second he put them on.
