I get why Steve did what he did, everyone deserves a happy ending, but honestly I was shocked that happened at all, but as someone else said, he didn’t spend that much time with Peggy, and leaving the present world in its chaos to go back to her? I feel like (as much as i love cap) he should’ve been the one to snap, it would’ve been the noblest ending of all.

Also, can we talk about the fact that Steve totally stole the new shield from that new timeline he made with Peggy. Um, what exactly happened to the Steve who was native to that timeline? That was his shield, right? Unless the new shield was an extra made by Wakanda later on?

That decision is still hurting me 730 days later. And I wouldn’t have thought about doing what he did if I was him for one second. Even if I took Tony’s advice to settle down and find a simple life, I would recognize I could do that in the present while being there for Bucky until the end of the line instead of Dr. Raynor.

Yeah, what Steve did is pretty selfish if you think about it.

The opposite argument is that by the time Steve went back in time, everything had been restored, including the people missing from the blip. Even the Stones were restored to their original timeline thanks to Steve. Thanos had been defeated. The civil war was over.

Steve had no further obligations or duty. Furthermore he selected his successor, which was Sam. And Bucky was good with that choice.

Bucky or Sam could have argued with Steve to convince him he made a bad choice but they never did. Instead they respected his choice.

And let’s be honest. If it wasn’t for Steve’s decision we would not have had the character development and story which were got in TFATWS.

At least Iron Man had a chance to settle down with Pepper to start a family.

But somehow Steve does not deserve to settle down with the love of his life... after all he has been through and all the sacrifice he had done?

If we are gonna pretend Peggy is actually the love of his life, then of course he deserved to go back and make an alternate timeline that would erase her kids, but it’s still out of character for him to do it nonetheless. And if we go the route the writers say that Steve was always the husband and no one was erased, then he has to let Peggy have SHIELD be such a big part of her life without telling her anything about HYDRA growing in it. That would mentally tear apart the Steve I know.

^^^ he does deserve it, Flash changed the entire timeline to get back his parents didn’t he? But some stories are left broken, I would’ve liked that with Steve and Peggy. Call me crazy but Steve dying would’ve been so much more emotional.

I didn’t personally like the ending, but I can appreciate it as a growth moment for Steve, Bucky, and Sam. It was necessary closure, so I can’t really complain.

Whilst it was a selfish decision, most decisions people make are selfish- as in, you, the person making the decision, are at the center, whether you like it or not. I can respect Cap's decision. I mean, if there was somebody I loved, I reckon I would go back in time to have a life with them, as long as it wasn't hurting anybody or anything.
