Hello, all. As I'm sure most of you all have heard, there are rumors of Big Hero 6 being incorporated into the MCU. Now, the response to this idea has been divided, to say the least. It seems that many people weren't actually aware the team (albeit a very different iteration of most of the characters) originated in Marvel comics in the late 90s. I, for one, am actually very excited at the prospect of this actually happening. Secretly, I'd kind of hoped that this would happen for a while now, but just assumed it was a pipe dream. Dreams do come true, I suppose. That being said, I felt like it was a good idea to take time away from doing my homework to write some convoluted pitch on how I personally would introduce the team to the MCU.
I would introduce the team in a Spider-Man film, which may sound odd at first, but just bear with me. In this hypothetical Spider-Man film, Peter is in college, and he is studying abroad at SFIT, a technology school in San Fransokyo, an independent island nation in the Pacific Ocean that combines American and Japanese cultures. While there, he befriends Hiro Hamada, another student at SFIT. While at this technology institution, Peter begins working with the robotics kids, who are secretly a vigilante team known as Big Hero 6, and are lead by Tadashi Hamada, Hiro's older brother. The team is very disorganized though, and Tadashi is trying to keep his vigilante life a secret from Hiro. Eventually, Peter and BH6 would discover a criminal organization (maybe HYDRA, maybe something else) has employed Felicia Hardy to steal Quantum Realm technology being developed at the tech institution. Peter would help organize the team, and they would successfully prevent Felicia Hardy from stealing the tech. This would benefit Peter's character by allowing him to help a disorganized team, and would teach him leadership lessons, allowing him to take a leadership role in the Young Avengers in a future film. At the end of the film, Hiro would learn about Tadashi's double life, and would set up Big Hero 6 Disney+ series.
In the Disney+ series, Hiro would continue to be enamored with Tadashi's lifestyle, and Tadashi would continue to try to keep Hiro from the vigilante life. Eventually, in the second or third episode of the series, Tadashi would die in an act of selflessness, and Hiro would have to cope with that loss, and trying to fill Tadashi's shoes on the team. The show could have crossovers with numerous properties, such as Shang-Chi, Agents of ATLAS (which is definitely going to happen), and a Wave or Aero show (which will definitely happen as well, just wait.). The characters would continue to develop from vigilantes to full-fledged heroes.
Welp. Thats my pitch. I hope you guys all enjoy it. It's kinda fanfic-like, which I dont enjoy, but hey. Whatever. I personally think BH6 would be a great addition to the MCU, and a pairing of Tom Holland and Ryan Potter as Peter and Hiro would be awesome, I think. That being said, I would hope they would take inspiration from the Disney iterations of the team, rather than the comics. Although, having Sunfire appear with the team, though not as a member, would be cool. And maybe Silver Samurai is a recurring character and ally, but not a main team member? Idk just a thought. But I definitely hope Baymax remains as the cute, marshmallow-like appearance, not the reptilian appearance from the comics. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the little essay I wrote for y'all while I'm currently ignoring my homework and failing all my college courses this semester!
