Just going to continue praying it's either not related to the MCU, or done in such a way that it's not technically linked to the previous canon.
I mean it likely will be, sure, but that's not known for certain, given no one else could make it other than Marvel Studios, and it was always going to get made given the franchise's success.
It is probably for the MCU, whether it will be linked in any ways to the previous films is another story that we will have to wait and see. I’m still guessing not. Marvel Studios doesn’t seem interested in concluding anything from Fox. They aired New Mutants because it was completed. They like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, which is a no brainer, so they want to keep working with him in this role.
I do see potential for other R-rated MCU films, especially if this does well. Maybe Blade will be R-rated or if they do a new Ghostrider. Most of their films will still be PG-13.
The ideal situation for me is that they keep it away from the MCU. But I accept some fans want to see him in the MCU and that it being entirely separate is seeming increasingly unlikely.
So the ideal situation given that, for me, would be that it's called Deadpool: Subtitle to avoid calling it Deadpool 3 (which would tie it to the continuity of the first two films), and the character shows up and they basically pick up where they left off, but it's technically a new continuity, just everything's almost identical to the previous continuity so there's an audience shorthand. Like a J, K. Simmons situation.
I just really, really don't want them connecting with the Fox X-Men franchise (or any other Marvel franchise).
Technically MCU Deadpool 1, not Deadpool 3 - but effectively Deadpool 3.
Wait, Bob's Burgers?!
I actually root for the opposite. I hope it is not MCU, and it concludes the story estabilished by the original Deadpool duology (and essentially the Fox X-Men franchise). It may be a lot to ask, on Marvel Studios behalf, but after all, this would be a Deadpool movie, and the last one in fact, the end of a trilogy. So Marvel Studios could just finance a final Deadpool movie, finish the story of the Fox's character, and then be free to abandon Fox's continuity and make their own as time goes on.
However, I wouldn't be surprised the Fox Deadpool mentions various stuff from the MCU, via 4th wall breaking (as we have seen in Deadpool 2)... or even vice-versa.
Well, I heard that the opening will be where all the cast gets dusted? But Wade, himself. This might not be true.
@Miguel Evaristo Well, he does have Cable’s Time travel device, which can do a lot of things. Such as travel through different timelines and maybe Universes.
Different timelines are different universes in Marvel canonically. In fact, he creates an alternative Earth-10005 (original timeline) timeline by killing Weapon XI.
I'm betting they'll use this to put him in the MCU, while bring a sequel, while not having the other films being canon to Earth-199999.
What do you think?
