The Avengers: Infinity War movie is formatted for you to sympathize with Thanos, at least partially. So, yeah, I don't think that's a bad reaction. When I watched Avengers: Endgame, the part when they were still oblivious of the possibility of time travel, I became very attached to the world that was left growing up and moving on in the aftermath of the snap. Really, I was genuinely okay with the moments where half of the world vanished, because people have moved on and accepted their own mistakes, instead of living with the guilt forever. I also was, for a moment, rooting a bit for Thanos, its actually a storytelling marvel (no pun intended) what the last two Avengers films directors and writers did to pull off a story where you could relate so much with the villain and its causes.
