Is Surtur Dead? My Theory.

Here's my reasons for why I think Surtur is not dead:

Reason 1 (might not make that much since): Surtur says he can not die until he carries out Ragnarok. Now the goal of Ragnarok is to destroy Asgard. From what Odin tells us Ragnarok is the people and there were no remaining people on Asgard (besides Hela). If this is true overall then Surtur can't die yet.

Reason 2: Surtur was merged with the Eternal Flame which means he can't die (this already proves my point). We know that individuals resurrected by the flame can still be killed again (in the case of Fenris and the Berserkers) but its merged with him which means that his immortal. We know Surtur is merged with the flame so he is basically stuck in his bigger more powerful state. This could mean trouble.

Reason 3: He swatted the Hulk like a fly, killed Hela, and survived an encounter with Odin as hinted by Thor, what more can I say.

Answer to reason 1: That is a technicality, Surtur's goal was to destroy the location known as Asgard, which he did and after the destruction, none of his remains could be seen.

Answer to reason 2: Nope, in no place in the MCU it has been said the Eternal Flame makes you immortal. You can be resurrected sure, but if you were that doen't mean you can't be killed later. Yes, Surtur was merged with it, but it is not said you will acquire its capabilities. so, he is pretty much dead.

Answer to reason 3: The strenght of someone does not measure if you can be killed or not. Look at Thanos.

@Marvelus makes great points. Ragnorok occurred and Asgard as they know it is gone. Sure they made a new Asgard on Earth, but that’s more of a rebirth.

I just don’t see Feige and their various writers/directors being interested in bringing him back. MCU is in a different format than a comic book, so characters aren’t resurrected as often because fewer stories are being told. Not sure what will all be in the next Thor film, but doubt Surtur will make an appearance. His story appears to be done.
