I thought the 2091 timeline was rewritten. Every timeline always resulted in the destroyed Earth, which also resulted in the team being sent to the future and coming back, but the Earth is destroyed......... But, then in the season 5 finale, they break the loop of the MAIN timeline, and create a NEW timeline which therefore is the MAIN timeline, and the OLD timeline, which was the MAIN timeline, is now an ABORTED timeline? It could be possible that something like this is what is happening with the past being changed.

^It wasn't rewritten. The MCU just branched off the Destroyed Earth reality. Even Deke says that it cannot have been rewritten as he is still alive, which proved his Multiverse theory that the universe where the Earth got saved is just another one. In the MCU, there is no rewriting, it is all just branches like in the comics.

So they are still sort of the mcu or will join into them

It goes by this:

- Season 1 - Season 4 Episode 22: MCU timeline, reality

- Season 5 episode 1-4; 6-10: They are taken to the future of what is likely going to happen as other parallel universes have suffered the same fate. (In the MCU you can indeed travel to the past and future). They go to the past

- Season 5 episode 11-22: MCU timeline. The team arrives, the loop is broken and due to the divergence, the MCU branches off from the Destroyed Earth reality. Imagine a twig being split in two. NO REWRITING.

- Season 6 episode 1-13: MCU Timeline. Deke says the 2091 is still intact but for the MCU is just an aborted timeline as the new 2091 will be nothing like the one they visited before.

- Season 6 episode 13, now while this is yet to be seen, Simmons, Fitz and Enoch indeed time traveled to rescue the team from the Temple of the Forgotten. Just think about it, they always talk about the amoun of time that has passed. So it is likely they spent years and years developing the JumpDriver, therefore we have 2 routes:

**ROUTE A: there is another timeloop in 2019, the team was ALWAYS meant to be saved by Simmons and Fitz so they could go back in time and ensure the events of 1931 and 1955 which are part of the MCU past (predestination paradox)

**ROUTE B: there was a branch in time in 2019 created by the arrival of Simmons and Enoch to the Temple of the Forgotten, so we have an alternate universe where the Chronicoms killed S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2019 and Simmons and Fitz saw that, and just built the time machine to save their friends and then fight off the Chronicoms to avoid their colonization of Earth. But as this is also a reality which is exactly the same as the one explained in Route A so the team should have always been saved in 2019 to go to the past and ensure the events of 1931 and 1955 (main MCU timeline). Therefore, it has to be route A.

-Season 7 episodes 1-4, it is the MCU timeline as well, however, there is a branch in time in 1955 when Luke stays behind to ensure Malick's survival, this is a wave, which causes a branch in time. And now the MCU is split into two, the MCU reality and the Malick's Project Insight reality, where the agents are currently there.

Current timeline: Malick's Project Insight reality. Will they manage to return to the MCU timeline and stay there? Time will tell.

The number of ARs grows... 3 in AoS, 2 in Runaways, 4-5 in Endgame, 1 in Team Thor, One in Age of Ultron Episode 0, one for cosmic quest part two, a bunch of realitys for the games and a bunch of realitys for the non canon comics...

^Yes. But I wouldn't consider the video games and comics non canon version as alternate realities of the MCU, I would rather give that designation to the official canon material.

@Marvelus So does “branched realities” mean the present timeline is left unchanged because the timeline that were made with like the Malicks, etc. have branched off to new timelines? If so, then are the agents actions in vain? I know they are understanding that they are saving SHIELD and therefore Earth from the Chronicoms, but if nothing happens to the main MCU timeline, then it seem like they are risking death for nothing?

Maybe more will be said later and explained by the finale, but a branched reality doesn’t seem to threatening to their present lives.

^That is what I have been thinking about, and has me wondering, if they will create just branches in time, then what is it at stake? It cannot be rewritten because Deke didn't disappear, and if they could just rewrite history, then they could just go in the past and kill the agents when they were babies, but that wouldn't impact the future either, so in some form of thing, the Chronicoms know they cannot change time just like in the movies.

But Simmons and Fitz come from a future where Earth was colonized. Just remember, they were gone for an undefined amount of time to figure out how time travel works, and they didn't even find out. I HAVE to take Route A now, they saw the aftermath of the Chronicoms actions, time traveling or not, they KILLED their friends, Quake was killed, the world was conquered by the Chronicoms, and they just had to save them by time traveling in 2019, so they had to take them out of time and fight off the Chronicoms from doing whatever they wanted. So it is tricky but it will all get solved soon, but no. They are not rewriting timeline, they just cannot.

As for the episode itself, it was a filler episode, but it did have some important moments. It was also one of the more bloodier episode, even though I think they were going to for the old 80s horror effect. It was interesting that Sybil needed those robots at all. Coulson LMD’s action really did mess up her plans some or I’m sure she could have had a Chronicom so that for her. I’m guessing the rest of their hunters are already at a different time and place, not able to move back to where Deke and Mack are at. I wonder if that confirms Luke and Abel are dead/out of commission.

Some parts of the episode were slow. I’m glad it was just one episode like this and they were reunited at the end with some of the team. This was the episode that I thought would be Fitz centric and show us what he has been up to this whole time, but instead it was about Mack and Deke and what they had been up since they got left behind.

Im excited about what will happen next. It seems like Chroncioms are partnering with Hydra or at least Nathaniel and since he has Quake powers...I wonder if there will be an interest in bring more Inhumans or at least empower Hydra agents with such Inhuman powers, like Nathaniel was able to do for himself.
