How did the stones get returned as they were in different form? Does any know or have theory’s.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter, because Steve returning the stones is supposed to erase those timelines, completing the Infinity Stone set so time can repair itself. So just making sure he puts the stones back into their times so the set is complete, the branches should be "clipped", as they say. They should collapse, dissipate, be erased. It doesn't matter about everything looking correct and being in the right place.

Steve (with the help of Ancient One) using the time stone can probably change the stones to their earlier apperences, that's only logical solution to me if they don't want the alter the timelines. I saw this from this fan movie and it really makes sense; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rwdxU1cRig
