I'm really glad that theyve gotten creative and found a way to include coulson in season 7 but do any of you wish that the real coulson could have survived? What do you thi k should have happened?

@Ericboy405 Like what Benny was saying, the writers thought that was going to be the last season when Coulson did die or was at least dying. There was no guarantee of another season.
Sometimes main characters do die in a season finale of a long time running series. Sometimes it at the request of the actor and sometimes it’s more the writers decision. Most shows do try to keep their core group of actors throughout the show.
Yea I know all that, it's just that the MCU as a whole still goes on and I would've loved Coulson to show up somewhere else.
And he still could. Coulson even said recently that he's not 100% sure he's finished.
However, no main characters ever dying is tricky for me. Since, while it would be sad, I don't necessarily think that's a good idea. It was dumb when Elektra was resurrected, it was dumb when Matt was resurrected (you know have no idea how mad I was the first time I saw that), and (RUNAWAYS SEASON 3 SPOILERS) it was dumb when Gert was resurrected.
Character deaths are important part of the narrative, as sad as they can be. While I maybe understand bringing back Elektra for the plot, Matt and Gert died for the sole purpose of being brought, and that didn't work, because then you know the characters are immune to anything and there's no tension.
In all honestly I wish he stayed dead in the first avengers rather than bringing him back
It'll be LMD Coulson though, right?
I have to heavily disagree with all three of your examples. Especially Matt, that "death" was integral to his arc in season 3 and Daredevil had a lot more story left to tell.
I edited my original comment to say there are exceptions because some deaths are well-done in my opinion and should be left permanent. I just happen to think Coulson should've stayed alive (even though both his death scenes were incredibly done).
I don't mind him still being alive for SHIELD 1, I thought it was cool the way they had it as a mystery and led to a wonderfully touching moment when Fury called Coulson an Avenger.
Regarding Ericboy405, it would be LMD Coulson if it takes place after SHIELD 7. But if the Captain Marvel 2 takes place after the first one (which I personally believe it should), then it would be actually Coulson (as an example).
@Brett3801 I don’t understand your complaints about Elektra’s resurrection and Matt (presuming talking about Daredevil) was never dead, so not a resurrection. It did fit his arc in the third season. Elektra was more similar to comic books, so it’s more fitting for her character. Gert’s is understanding and see why people did not like it. It didn’t bother me, but glad they got a happier ending. I would have been okay with her staying dead too if they went that route.
For AOS, since they know this will be it, then I hope all of the main characters get a fitting finale, since there is a good chance this will be the last we see them.
Elektra coming back I felt undid the sacrifice she made that made her such a complex character. The woman destined for evil, made to lead the Hand, coming around and sacrificing her to bring down a faction of them. It gave her such an interesting story arc. But then by resurrecting her and erasing her memories, they literally undid all of the progress she made throughout Daredevil, and it was frustrating. Watching her be evil and killing Alexandria painful given that we know she had already gone through the arc of becoming a good guy, so where else could they go with her for that? They just repeat the arc and she and Matt (yes, that does mean Daredevil) fight at the end, but then it just feels like a less interesting repeat of the first time she died.
Matt was frustrating for different reasons. When we thought he was dead, it was shocking. The shock value alone was one thing, but then seeing it affect the character made for a very interesting story. I understand saying that his near-death experience bringing him back to the church can factor into the story arc, but if that's the case, then why make everything think he was dead at all? It just makes him out to be a terrible person when he doesn't reach out to the people he cares about. And I give Daredevil 3 so much credit for doing what they could with Matt somehow surviving having a building dropped on him, they gave probably the best explanation at could. But they could have done the same story without people thinking he was dead, especially with how little it ends up mattering to the story anyway. Karen and Foggy would still be mad at him, Matt could be living at the church for other reasons if they had to have him there, it was unnecessarily and ridiculous. Killing Matt would have been a good move (in a show that had very little in my opinion, I didn't like Defenders), keeping him alive would have been a good move. But what they did was just halfway between and didn't make a ton of sense to me as a choice.
I may be wrong, but I felt like we knew Daredevil was getting a third season around the time Defenders came out. Any ways, I never felt like Matt was dead and certainly didn’t have the same feels like I did with Tony in Endgame. So him returning, never was a surprise to me.
I see what you mean with Elektra, but I feel like resurrection is part of her story. Like Uncle Ben dying. It is expected from fans.
About Matt, the reveal that he was still alive came at the end of Defenders, not the beginning of Daredevil 3, so of course we all knew about it. It doesn't make it any less frustrating. It didn't need to happen for story purposes and was definitely not a part of his arc, and was just frustrating for me.
Elektra's death might have been expected, but it made no sense from a story perspective, so shouldn't have been confusing. It just backtracked her character progress and undid the character that Daredevil 2 worked so hard on.
What do you think?
