<p>So, this is how the 2019 time travel is a loop while 1931 is not, it is clearly the split. Key things: Quantum Realm.
</p><p>The Quantum Realm can be used to time travel and dimensional travel. If it is used to time travel within the same timeline, you will create a split: Barton, 2012, 2013, 2014, 1970 and 1949. So if you move from 2023 of your timeline to other ages of your timeline, you will create an instant split.
</p><p>But if you move between timelines, you won't create a split. Fitz moved through the Quantum Realm from 2019 of the MCU timeline to 1983 of the new timeline. His arrival to 1983 did not create a split because he moved between universes.
</p><p>As the 1931 thing is a split, shouldn't be the travel from c.2025 to 2019 be one too? Yes. But Fitz-Simmons were able to create a loop to prevent that mixing time travel and dimensional travel.
</p><p>If Cap B from universe B travels from 2023-B to 1949-A, then he will not be creating a split, but he will have always be part of the story of the past of universe A since 1949-A.
</p><p>The agents did that by moving from 1983 of Alternate reality to 2019 of the MCU reality, therefore as it was dimensional travel, there were always going to be agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returning to 2019, and the fact that they were able to return to 2019 and have always been part of it, is due to the time travel Fitz-Simmons made from c.2025 to 2019. They created their own time loop to avoid creating a split in 2019.

- 2019: Fitz-Simmons go to hide and by c.2025 they have finally finished what they needed to do according to the time stream.
- c. 2025: Fitz-Simmons time travel to 2019, it should create a split, but they played with dimensional travel (which does not create a split) to ensure their time-travel from 2025 to 2019 does not create a new timeline.
- 2019.
- Fitz-Simmons arrive from 2025 (time travel it should create a split)
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from 1983 new timeline arrive to 2019 of the MCU by dimensional travel, therefore they always were meant to be part of the 2019 storyline becuase they used dimensional travel
- So the team could return by dimensional travel and have always been part of 2019, Fitz-Simmons should have ALWAYS time-traveled from 2025 to 2019 without creating a split.

Yeah I kind of got that but again I guess it shows the difference of the world and how people can adapt to situations. Pretty timely when you get down to it.

<p>I'm sure this has already been clarified, but I can't find it. If we can only travel through the Quantum Realm to other timelines. Is the timeline in which Gert Yorkes dies MCU or the one she survives.

Also, the Runaways did not rewrite the timeline. I explore a little more of that on my blog. Just check the runaways s3 version, but it is clean splits as well. </p>
- If the MCU confirms Rogers created an alternate timeline (right now what the Russos said) then Rogers returned briefly to 2023 and then time-traveled to 1949, then he created an alternate timeline.
- If the MCU confirms Rogers has always been Carter's husband all along, then Rogers did the next thing: so they could have always been part of the MCU timeline then he should have traveled dimensionally from one of the alternate realities to 1949 of the MCU reality. Just like the agents did, so the agents were always part of the MCU 2019 timeline.
Also, the Runaways did not rewrite the timeline. I explore a little more of that on my blog. Just check the runaways s3 version, but it is clean splits as well. </p>

<p>I'll be honest, I didn't see anything in the episodes that suggested when exactly the agents branched off into the new timeline, in fact, it doesn't make sense to me why Fitz would say they BRANCHED OFF into the new timeline if they were always in that timeline since the beginning.
</p><p>"You went back in time, and then you branched off" meaning "you went back to the past of Earth-199999 and then branched off into a new timeline". The split could still be in 1931, but not at the exact moment they arrived.
</p><p>But that's just how i saw it, I hope someone involved with the show says something. I won't argue with anyone :)
