It could still not be part of the movie, but a film taking place between the 5 year Endgame time skip, would be interesting.

I would honestly not be that surprised. We know the timeline of pretty much every other Phase Four and Five movie. We know that all the sequels (Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther II, Captain Marvel 2, Ant-Man 3 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) must take place after Endgame, so any time after 2023. We know Spider-Man 3 must take place after Far From Home, so around 2024 (or maybe even 2025) though I personally want Marvel to try to stay in that time period (2023/24) until we in real life get there. We know The Falcon and the Winter Soldier takes place in about Fall 2023, Loki after the alternate 2012 timeline, and that all of the other Disney+ shows (minus What If...?) take place after Endgame. And now for the new films. Black Widow takes place in about 2017 (after Civil War, before Infinity War). The Eternals was said to take place after Endgame. But we have still heard nothing from Shang Chi! This 2020 placement would honestly be fun, and make sense- it is a crippled and defenseless world, with nobody left to protect people anymore. It is the perfect time period for the Ten Rings to wreck havoc onto the world and the perfect time for Shang-Chi to emerge. I mean, we don't really know anything about this time period in between 2018 and 2023 besides what happens at the end of Runaways S3 and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6. Even those don't give us much because they don't even deal with the snap. They still leave us with three years of stuff we have no idea happens. For all we know, COVID-19 could have actually happened (poor people, losing half the universe and then this). To close this off, I guess we should just wait and see.

That would be awesome. I hated that Endgame did a 5-year time jump. I mean, you're trying to develop a universe and you skip 5 years after the biggest thing to happen in that universe's history? What the heck?

Spending time in that five-year gap would be really cool.

Actually, The Russo Brothers decided the time jump because they wanted to find a time where everyone moved on from the blip.

1. The 2020 graffity likely means nothing. It might not even mean the year 2020, also if someone graffites the number 2020 in a wall during the year 2020, that wall will have that number graffited for the years that follow. At best this means this is set in or after 2020.

2. However, I don't see no direct indication to suggest Shang-Chi HAS to be placed after Endgame (other than it will be released after Avengers: Endgame, obviously). If it is set in 2020, that would actually be great. I think that Shang-Chi would be like this humble guy that eventually looses the people he loves during the snap, and that drives him to those paths that eventually create his heroic character. Eventually a sequel would be set after Endgame and could be focusing on him trying to find the person he cared about that was returned from the dead. Whose person is this? Maybe his girlfriend, or fiancée, maybe his adoptive father or mother, or even real mother, assuming his father will be The Mandarin. I think this could be important to define Shang-Chi as an interesting character, dislocated from a world he wasn't able to adapt to, and as the sequels progressed, he will increasingly adapt to the changes, value the people he loves and become an important person in its greater world (i.e., interact with other major MCU characters). I think this could be an important character development for this character, one that would also benefit from the five year gap setting.

Also, someone mentioned earlier than The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be set in the fall of 2023. I personally don't think it will be that soon. Given that Endgame's events already happen two or three months before the beginning of the year 2024, and because I'm expecting a "year later" treatment, so that people will more easily adapt themselves after the traumatic events that followed, I believe The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be set in fall of 2024, instead. Could be in the fall of 2023 too, as we see in the trailer Falcon training with Cap's shield, as if he didn't mastered it yet, also pointing that maybe not too much time happened since Endgame. Still, I think that making all that plot happen just a month or a month and a half after Endgame seems a bit too soon. So I lean to a late 2024 date, if the series is indeed set in the fall.

The fact that Russos wanted everybody to move on (hard to believe though given Joe Russo's scene) doesn't change the fact that it hurts the development of this universe. Now we have no idea how everyone initially reacted. I'd love a 2020 release for that reason.
