The bad: The Iron Man movies were horrible and Robert Downey Jr is uncharismatic and self centered, and that isn't charming or helpful in the least bit. Also, Civil War was laughably bad and had such a simple plot. All of the superheroes' points of view and motivations were shallow, and could have been interchangeable in any direction because the conflict was so thin. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was such a letdown compared to the original. Gotg2 wasn't funny, and I felt myself sighing throughout it.

Good: Guardians of the Galaxy was very charming, and spent the time and effort to develop the characters and make me care about them. Definitely my favorite MCU film. Spiderman Homecoming was my favorite Spiderman by far. Peter and Ned's relationship was believable and MJ in that and Far From Home was complicated. Michael Keaton was one of the best villains in these movies because he did horrible things, but you felt for him on a level. Also Infinity War was much more emotional that I would have expected; there was a fair amount of crying in the theater during the 4 times I saw it.

@BEJT Do the Skrulls have a lot of support? I know Ben Mendelsohn’s performance was (rightfully) praised, but I thought making them good guys alienated a large number of fans who (for some reason) wanted a Secret Invasion adaption.

Marvel Television taking a backseat is a relatively new phenomenon, so I understand that critique.

I don’t think people know what to make of Endgame’s time travel rules (I mostly included it since I have a working knowledge of its logistics) so I threw that in, but admittedly it was a self-indulgent inclusion.

Interesting, I haven't heard much against the Skrull reveal, but much of the genuine criticism of Captain Marvel got lost in the noise around that film.

I personally really liked it as well, and am hoping they don't do straight-up Secret Invasion, as it is essentially a cheap "shock reveal" tactic that undermines character development.

The venom movie was good, i loved it.

Devil to Pay: Regardless of what anyone says, the MCU is still set up for a possible future Secret Invasion. The comics presented the Skrulls as getting beat back and decimated by the Kree (which pretty much happened in Capt Marvel) but then a generation later, their general anxiety over their almost-annihilation leads to them grasping at straws to find a spiritual solution. So they find some old texts from a forgotten era that say they need to find and claim a new homeworld. The Skrull government becomes less thoughtful and more reactionary and leads a slow invasion of Earth. The shapeshifting Skrulls slowly kill people in power and replace their forms. Like superheroes, actors, world leaders, religious leaders, lobbyists and business leaders. Then the Skrulls swiftly make a large scale announcement and any organization or leader that could do something to stop would have already been led by a Skrull, so society is basically spinning its wheels while being invaded. It's a great story, and I can see this being done. The conditions for it to happen had to be set up with the Kree, which in Captain Marvel took place.

Groot is overrated.
